From Chapter 1:3

"He put it in front of me, a book. But there was something odd about this book. It had a leather cover and a buckle. It smelled like dust and looked two hundred years old. It had no title. No author. I looked on the inside. The first page, in big letters said:4

Under that it said Author and a blank line. I looked closely and there were eraser marks and a faded name. I tried to make it out. Sergey Per- something.6

“You just draw stuff on the pages to design yourself a little world,” my dad said, “I hope you like it.”"7

That night, after my homework was done, I went to my room and looked at the book. I flipped through the pages of My Secret World. The second page said, Draw your planet, and had a little box under it. To my surprise, the box was drawn in. It had a small planet in it, very detailed and beautiful. I guess this book was used.9

On the line below the box, it said Kontora. Whatever, fine with me. The rest of the book was empty. But on one of the draw your own weather pages, there was a faded drawing. It was not erased very well at all. I could still see it clearly. It looked like a bunch of black storm clouds. They were labeled King’s Storm. On the next page, faded out, as well, was a picture of a long, black sword. It said Sword of the Storms.10

I flipped through more pages, and got to a page that said, create your capital city.11

Then I flipped through the pages again until I reached the back. On the back there was a word written in huge print.13

Then I flipped to a different page. It said draw your own device.17

So I did.18

I was in my room. I opened up the book, and flipped to another device page. 21

Putting down the book I accidentally flipped to a page that said: draw yourself an attachment.23

...I turned to another device page. I put my pencil to the paper and began to draw.26
