A woman needs to marry a man
And a man needs to have a good wife
to be a good man
But I ain't ever been married to no man
And I've known men that ain't been married to a woman
Because I love a woman like I SHOULD love a man
And HE loved his man like a man SHOULD love a woman
And I've been told I'm no good before1
But ain't I a human?
Ain't my blood as red as yours
and my hearbeat just as proud?
Look at me!
I'm a daughter and a lover and a fighter like you!
I breathe and live and love like you!
And I believe
Believe in a force so strong that I'm willing to fight
Believe in a force so good that I'm willing to stand up
I believe in the love that drives my heart
and guides my life
and gives me strength.2
That woman over there say
That I'm wrong, to love another woman
A woman like her, with soft feminine curves and powerful feminine strength.
She says that God don't love me for loving her.
But didn't the same God that made her
make me as well?!
Didn't He make my lover
and in His wisdom, how could He have made us wrong?
That woman over there
She's got her rights as one of God's creations
But ain't I a human too?!
Don't I deserve the same rights
to be with the one I was destined to love?
I vote, I learn
I help, I earn
I make and create and rejoice.
Ain't I a human too?3
That little man in black there say
That I can't have the same rights as him
He calls me gay
Calls me a sinner
Says I'm possessed by the Devil
And I don't know anything about Hell or the Devil
All I know is when I'm weak
and when I'm crumbling
and when my strength dissolves into tears
it ain't a man that's strong enough to hold my hand
Through my hardships and my sorrow
Through the pains no man can understand
It's my woman who gives me comfort
And holds in her determined grip
that time has questioned and challenged
My hand, and that's all I need
And wrong or right
Sinner or Saint,
I ain't ever letting go of hers.4
And together, we are strong
and we have faced so many hurdles
and together, palms locked and hearts steady we ask
Ain't we human too?
Author notes
This is modeled off of Sojourner Truth's "Ain't I a Woman" speech. I'm very passionate about the gay rights movement, I don't believe anyone has the right to come between the love of two people, regardless of gender or religion. Don't tell me marriage is a purely religious thing, if it were so, people would be protesting atheists who marry and enjoy the same 1200 or so federal grants and privileges, the same acknogledgement and affirmation of their bond. Don't tell me gay marriages ruin the sanctity of the word "marriage" when 50% of current marriages end in divorce! Yes, I have a girlfriend, yes I want to marry her one day, and yes, it hurts more than some of you may ever understand that there are people so bitter and hateful as to get in the way of that. Over a hundred years ago, Sojourner Truth delivered her speech on what it means to be a woman, a member of humanity degraded below her fellow humans. Today, I try to echo the same sentiment, and raise my voice for every homosexual and bisexual and transexual and every-sexual person out there.

I am think the logic of this is of fault. Sojourner Truth is not gay right activist. She object to this use, I am think. Also would biology. This is teenage. Rebelling from padres. Some day you grow up to understand they know thing. More than you. Infatuation is of short lasting.
Others fear tell you this. I am do not. Behind you, they agree. -

Great
Gotta say proclamations of love despite adversity is definitely something that is extremely sweet. It flowed very well and had a message in favor of love rather than social mores and conventions. Beautiful work, I didn't see one line that seemed out of place or that seemed like it could have been improved.
