I used to think that there are two kinds of people - those who are awake and those who are asleep. But after living a little while longer, I realized that there are actually three kinds - Those who are awake, those who are asleep, and those who wake, see, and choose to go back to sleep.2
What did you think? Please comment!

And so true it is. There were many time when younger when i wanted to go back to sleep and forget the world. Very well put indeed.

The truth in this makes me grit my teeth, Mark. Some don't even dream.

I think we all need to go to sleep now and then. Otherwise, this world will wear you down to nothing.
Thanks,
Mark

Again, I don't knwo how you can find the meaningful words that you do to create a story like that... 55 WORDS! ... Thats amazing, I wouldn't even attempt it, if I tried you would probably show me 50 typos that I made
... Anyways, I hope you win a trophy Uncle Mark, you certainly deserve one. Best Wishes upon this contest
... Love you

This is nice thought in here Mark, I never thought myself of that third kind..but I know it does excist in reality..some people who try to ignore situations..thinking by going back to sleep..the are running away but the thing is the sleep will be over one day..and they will wake up in even worse situations..
and in the other hand, Im thinking that this third kind can be good sometimes..in ovoiding some bad situations..so intead of fighting with someone..put a pillow on your head and go back to sleep lol..
this was reall thought provoking..good job

This is s great one, but whatever was written I took a little freedom of interpreting it my way. I feel the third kind are the ones that are the coward type, or the self-centered type, those who don't want to see or know what is going around them, they just want to avoid situations happening around them. Although others' perspectives would be different on this, I feel they are the ones who wake up to a "situation/happening" and then go back to sleep pretending or avoiding the scene.
Whatever, I just liked it. I learnt the existence of the third kind.

exactly 55 words.
this is clever. it almost reads like a long confuscious saying or something to that effect.
those choosing to sleep can be seen two ways to me. It can be a positive, they do not let the worries of life drag them from their needed rest or it can be seen in the negative, they are like your ostrich with his head in the sand.
that always reminds me of the young chold who covers his eyes and says you can't see me.
IF only the adult world were that simple.
Great tale
Thank you and good luck

Now that I'm getting older it's so hard to stay awake, and even so I forget what I learned yesterday. That's all to say, too true, Mark! Someone asked Mother Teresa what they should do to help the world, and she said, "Go home and love your children." All the little things we do may look a lot like sleeping, but they are not.

lol see babe, I told you I didnt know what I was talking about, but I gave it a shot anyhow. Metaphors arent my thing.
Glad ya cleared that up for me , I can rest easy tonight

Hi Criss,
I didn't mean to imply anything about suicide. I was thinking about myself in younger days when I was a bit of a crusader, trying to save the world, etc., and some of my friends who still are but are burning out quickly. Saving humanity from itself is a big job. Sometimes it's easier to go back to sleep to prevent complete insanity. lol
Thanks,
Mark

lol...this is a bit humorous, but it definitely holds true. Usually the ones who wake, see and go back to sleep are filled with depression...or lazy..lol Very nice..best wishes in the contest.

Hm. I think I might ponder this for a while and come back when I have something intelligent (or something closely resembling intelligent) to say.
The third kind of people made me think of suicide, though I dont think that was your intention and I feel like I am way off!
let me think about it, I'll be back.
