Sword of Iriuldum chapter 1 'chosen'

It has been a little more than three
Hundread years since the last battle between Alexandria and Hoseim. Now two young Zestören girls were in a barren land practicing there archery and studying there history. 1

"Let's go over this one more time." Roseime said as she looked over at her Master Lady Laura.2

Laura was eight years younger than the seventeen year old paladin with long curly blonde/brown hair and big red eyes. It was very different to the well built seventeen year old with her brown hair in a pair of pig tails. Roseime had a book in hand and her bow hugged over her shoulder brushing the material of her sky armor. Sky armor was created from a metal that fell from the sky during one of the nine seasons the dark season. It is practically indestructible and it's lightweight and feels like silk.3

"We've already been through this Roseime!" Laura whined. "I want to learn how to fight."4

"Not after your lesson. Laura in order for you to even learn how yo wield a sword, they teach you how to make it. Before that ever happens you must learn and appreciate the past." Roseime said calmly to the nine year old. "Now where are we?"5

"The country of the north Arentheena." Laura answered as she was standing on top of a log on the water floating. Trying not to fall in the water. 6

"Divide in it it's corresponding countries and what race does reside in each country." Roseime said and Laura groaned, she hated questions that required listing.7

"Landessa which has the golden gate was given to the elves. Northern Rolheria was given to us zestörens as the southern part was given to our brother clan the dorofen. Morissa belongs to dwarfs and sprites......Duzzle is occupied by dragons and there tamers.......let's see....Seira belongs to...shape shifters and men of the wind. The Keira ocean belongs to the Lylics, while Senti belongs to the mermaids and sirens." Laura said as she already had her bow and arrow in hand and ready to release it to the mark.8

"Fire." Roseime said and the arrow hissed through the air before it was stabbed into the target. "What's special about the Golden Gate?"9

"It is the only thing that allows Skyrona to enter because all around it is rocky with cliffs, and the oceans are controlled by Lylics, Mermaids, and Sirens. They don't like humans, also with having.....the pheonix stones in it when attacked it'll burn and signal Bruhl that they'll call out help."10

"You are missing something." Roseime reminded smiling as she also stood up placed her book down and began her bow and arrow.11

"The last battle that Alexandria and Hoseim last shared three hundred years ago." Laura said and both of their arrows flew onto the target. Laura missed the center but Roseime got it.12

"Alexandria was a zestören so was Anna." Roseime said quietly as she got the arrows. "Alexandria was daughter of Zestö the first mother, she is your grand aunt. Knowing that you should know these things better." Roseime said walking away Laura followed.13

"Roseime I want to fight. We fight, it's in our blood." Laura said but Roseime shook her head.14

"Even if you were ready Laura I am just here to protect you." She said walking away from the barren wasteland around them. 15

The city was bigger, houses were built like forts that whole families lived in. People ranging from ten to seventeen like Roseime were fighting with their parents watching. Northern Rolheria was strictly a fighting place, so much that people far and wide come here seeking training. Spices filled the air because it was the harvest season. Most older men and women were there but Roseime decided to take Laura there.16

"Come along young miss." Roseime said as she began running.17

Zestörens in general were fast runners, three times faster than the average human. Yet some were faster than others. Roseime glided through the city in a blur seeing a multitude of colors pass by quickly. She reached the vast fields first and had Laura panting behind her.18

"You have to run more miss Laura. How else did you suggest that Alexandria got separated from Hoseim so fast?" She asked and Laura stuck her tongue out at her. "Come on we have work to do."19

Down in the field they were met by Roseime's mother Opal. Opal was a tall woman wearing black sky armor and her blonde hair in a long ponytail. She was an expert fighter and one of the members of T.O.M.B. the all woman assassin group.20

"You want the governor's daughter to work in the fields?" Opal asked disappointed at hee daughter.21

"I want her to appreciate the land that she lives in." Her daughter said as she grabbed Laura's hand and passed by her mother.22

"You don't like your mother do you?" Laura asked and Roseime twitched. 23

"Let's say that we aren't in the best of relationships." She said and led her to the grape vines. "Ok here is a claw Laura." Roseime said as a small metal hook was in her hand. "You go to the grape, grab it by the stem and swing the claw over it." She explained the motion as her hands glided over the grapes and removed it from the vine. "Then it goes into the crate. Think you can do that?"24

"I'll try." Laura said as she did but she had to rub the claw's edge for the grape to cut off.25

"Tilt the grapes it'll be easier." Roseime said as she too began working. 26

Everything was peaceful with the scents of: grapes; apple;, star fruit; hopper berries; kelpsy fruit; hondew berries; paprika; pepper; and sunflora flowers. Laughs were shared here and there and a few insulting comments as well. Roseime and Laura had accomplished to fill eight crates of grapes before they were called out to work with hondew berries.27

"What are hondew's?" Laura asked looking at the odd berry. It looked like a slender egg sandy colored, with a small bee on it and many seeds that were attached to the outside.28

"Hondew's are berries that contain honey in it. When sick you drink the honey frm this berry and you will be better in no time, they are great for medicine." Roseime explained to the confused nine year old. "Now you just pluck it out and remove the seeds that are on the outside, see?" Roseime asked as the small seeds were plucked out of the berry itself.29

"Why are they going in a different crate?" Laura asked and Roseime chuckled.30

"To plant them in the fertile season." Roseime answered as Laura began doing the same as her knight. Laura eyed Roseime's earing which was her warrior bow from earlier today. 31

A loud horn was heard around the whole region. It was so deep and loud that it hurt everyone's ears. Zestörens had extremely sensitive ears and the present generations weren't an exception. It stopped as quickly as it came. Laura was on the floor clutching her head, Roseime rubbed her temples and grabbed two hondew's. The only way to get the nectar out is to grab it from the top that looks like a bee and rip it off leaving a small container with the healing nectar.32

"Here." Roseime told Laura who did just that, Roseime followed shortly after. The two girls glowed a pale yellow and were feeling fine.33

A horse mistress galloped on her horse to the fields. It was Miki one of the members of T.O.M.B.34

"What was that Miki?" Roseime asked and everyone turned there heads to try to hear.35

"The golden gates they've been attacked." 36

"What?!" one person shouted.37

"Blasphemy humans would know better!" Another cried.38

"The second war has begun." Opal cried and everyone scurried away to here homes. Roseime got out her warrior Kirendku out and summoned it. The metallic red dingo/bear stood tall as his two feet long ears pointed up hearing the surroundings. The kirendku was two yards tall and looked at it's master Roseime who placed Laura on it and then herself.39

"Go home." Roseime ordered and the Kirendku began running in long strides. Zestören's like Roseime had a great connection with this creature because it has some of it's genetic coding in them as well.40

Once in the governor's manor everyone was there preparing to fight. It was obvious for the fighting clan. 41

"Enough!" a old voice called out and everyone quieted down. The woman who screamed it was over three hundred years of age. Her once youthful body had become old. Her name was Ana and she fought in the first war. "Let the clan tree decide who will go. Alexandria knew this was coming, so eight people will go one from each clan." Ana said as Laura and Roseime stood behind her.42

An eerie silence fell on everyone as they awaited to know who was chosen. A blue light dropped on Roseime and lifted her up. The light scorched her skin but she remained quiet. When the light disappeared she fell on the floor. Opal walked up to her and gave her a sword.43

"It's called Sorority. Let it help you." Opal said and she walked away. Ana stood by the confused Roseime and smiled.44

"You have taken my place child. I need you to run to each clan and find the other seven. Once that it done come to me. Hurry now, because it is on your hands." Ana said and Roseime nodded. 45

It was an honor to be chosen for such task to Roseime hopped onto her kirendku and ran off trying to get to Dorofen fast. Who know's what or where the humans had passed by now, she though.
