Cheese Panini

Summer afternoon... the two most beautiful words in the English Language.1

I watched Jeremy, his chin placed perfectly in his fists as he starred at the bright orange sun just over the horizon. He was in pure ecstasy as the sunbeams kissed his cheeks, making me a little jealous. I bit my lip, I'm not supossed to fall for a guy this much.3

His tousled blond hair was moving slightly in the touch of wind. He ran his fingers through his hair, making it look more like dry spaghetti then hair. I moved myself closer to him, until I was only an inch from touching. He looked at me, his hazel eyes melting my heart. I smiled a little and then ran into the open field, where the sun was shinning the brightest.4

I heard his footsteps running after me, until he grabbed me and lifted my toes off the ground. He fell onto the grass, landing himself before me, and lightly dropped me on his stomach, which was more like rock, with abs chiseled from the God's.5

I laid my head over his heart and listened to the steady beats. They rand through my head over and over again. I pulled my head up and rested chin now on his heart. He was trying not to smile too much, he thought his smile looked goofy. It didn't, his smile was what made me first notice him, 8 years ago...6

"Aunt Bell, stop fussing! I look fine!" I said pushing my crazy-haired aunt away from me. 8

"Oh Dayna! Let me just add a bit of make up!" She bursted, trying again to touch the blush to my cheeks.9

"No, No, NO! Now please, I think I just heard the door, I'll try to fix this... disaster," I said, looking in the mirror, horrified.10

"Now don't you get snippy!" She said,"I only have you for the summer,".11

When she left I rolled my eyes. My crazy aunt Bell, was simply a character, who didn't understand that I was a tomboy! I hated make up and dresses and anything really pouffy and pink! I heard her talking to our guests, a family that had just moved to Baneberry, Tennessee. I felt bad for him, if I didn't have to I would never come to this country dump!12

I sighed and went out to see the poor soul.13

"Oh Jeremy, this is my beautiful niece, Dayna, you're both 9!" She gloated.14

I starred at him, he was, really really, cute! His smile made me melt like a cheese panini inside. He showed all his teeth, well, except one off to the side that he must have lost, the spot filled by his pink tongue. I smiled back, shying away, not daring to show my teeth. His eyes were a hazel color, like bunch of colors mushed together. 15

"Hi Dayna," He said, he didn't have an accent, yet.16

"Hi," I said, finally realizing that Aunt Bell said beautiful.17

"Do you want to play baseball, or something?" He asked, moving for the door. 18

"How about stickball?" I asked, wrinkling my nose at the simple game a baseball.19

"What's that?" He asked, we were now away from the adults, and alone outside. 20

"It goes like this, dude," I said, preparing myself to be embarrassed.21

I ran up to him and kissed him of the cheek and then ran away, in to the vast field. At first he was stunned, then he chased after me, catching up with me quickly. I looked back to see his short blond hair just barely being affected by the wind rushing past him. When he caught up to me he said,"That's easy!".22

"Yeah well, I bet you can't do a better job!" I said, placing my hands on my hips.23

He thought a second and then said,"I'll practice,". 24

Then he started running again.25

For the rest of the summer, we saw each other every afternoon, until it was time for me to leave.26

I was kicking a pebble with my foot and starring at the ground. Jeremy lifted my chin and looked deep into my eyes.27

"I said I practiced," He said.28

With that, He brought his lips to mine and we melted together, just like a cheese panini...29
