Truth In the Sword

She loved the smell of rain. She loved the sound of rain. As it poured outside she sat on the sill of her window, watching the droplets slide down the glass. She was now learning how to yield a sword, her teacher, Conan, was an elderly man who knew how to use these weapons. They were a necessity for men but only optional for women. In her opinion every women must learn to protect herself, without the help of a man.She agreed that she was proud, arrogant but not selfish. She thought herself as a warrior, one as strong as a man. She was the type of girl that could look after herself. Loathing all the girly things, such as, make up, dressing up,jewelry and worrying over guys. But that didn't mean she wasn't fun to hang around with, she still went to parties with her Friends, hung around with them and went over to comfort whenever one had troubles. You could say that she was a weird one. Astrid, meaning divine strength, pulled herself away from the window. She had big dark eyes with eyelashes that surrounded her eyes, the colour of brown. Her hair were a beauty the was appreciated by everyone if, she decided to show it. Light brown with natural honey and light brown coloured highlights, little strands of hazel. Her hair added to her mysterious form. She had a personality of a tomboy but her figure gave away that, she was slim one with a petite body frame."Okay, time to go out and try my new sword. At least this way no one will see me and I'll save myself from embarrassment." she thought.1

Astrid tied her hair in a pony tail, pulled on her black boots, a pair of black track pants and an extra-large t-shirt, that was a combination of black and beige. With her sword fastened onto her hip she ran out, enjoying the rain as it poured. She ran into the forest with great speed and agility until she came into a large clearing. The grass was slick and wet from the rain so she had to be careful. With the large tree in front of her as her opponent she started launching attacks and dodging. As she jumped up to slice the tree branch in half, she slipped of the tree branch she was using for support and fell into a big puddle of mud. Cursing she got up, standing in her usual fighting position. As she prepared to try again she heard a familiar deep voice behind her. "Need help?" he asked. Astrid turned around as she came face to face with Ammon, meaning the hidden one. "Have you been spying on me?" she asked outraged. "No." was his simple reply. She hated that, when she asked a question she demanded a PROPER explanation but clearly he wasn't going to give one. Like her he too was proud, maybe prouder. "I just saw you charging at the tree" he motioned with his hand towards it. "One minute you were about to attack it and then the next you landed in a pile of mud." He finished off looking at her with his mysterious eyes of whom the colour she couldn't determine. She couldn't tell the emotion in his eyes nor voice. Was he rally trying to help her or was he laughing at her? What if he thought that she was weak? No..she was strong, a warrior. " No thanks, I can manage pretty well on my own." she replied haughtily. With that she turned, facing the tree once more. "Suit yourself." he said as he sat near by under a tree, watching her. She felt disturbed, as much as she was a tomboy she felt uncomfortable under a guy's gaze. She turned and gave him a cool stare. "What do you think you are doing?" she asked. "Nothing." was the reply. Frustrated she started to walk away from him, I have to find some place else to practise. "This would be a good time to test my ability on the trees, seeing how the tournament is close." she thought. As she started to leap towards the tree, he said "that wouldn't be a smart idea." Ignoring him she leapt towards the tree knowing that there was a 90% chance she would fall but she was too proud. Surely, her grip slipped as she leapt from one branch to another. Cursing she looked back at him only to be stared back at. Not at her but her eyes, he was looking into her eyes, abruptly she turned away and then  stared at him with narrowed eyes. Maybe I should take a break, she thought. With that she settled near him but not beside him. "So you need help?" he asked again. He was patient, she would give him that much."And I am not asking because I doubt your abilities in fighting but only because you are a beginner in sword fighting, am I correct?" she nodded solemnly. It had taken her longer to finish the previous levels, not because she was the only woman intrested in this field but because she wasn't comfortable with the whole concept of discovering your true self. It was stated that your weapon held your secrets, your power and your true form. "it would be helpful if I had someone to practise with and I assure you that I will be a worthy opponent and I have the power as you do, only just not as experienced as you." she replied thoughtfully. He nodded. "We will meet here tomorrow at 5 am sharp." With that said he stood and walked away. She nodded at hie retreating back. As she walked home she pondered her situation. he is not that bad, for a guy, she grinned. He had spikey hair, shark style, but jet black. Has was tanned as she, maybe a bit darker. It would be fun to teach him a lesson, she smirked evilly. Maybe she would figure out the truth that her weapon held, with the help of this man. She smiled a genuine smile as she approached her place. Maybe figuring out the truth before the tournament would give her something to be proud about. her situation wasn't that bad...not bad at all.2
