Our story opens with Vinnie who is a man who stands at 5 feet 9 inches tall; he is a very well build man for his age, which happens to be 45. He is a tree farmer. Which has been what his family has been doing seen his great grandparents came here in the USA from Italy so many years ago. His wife Julie who is a small frame woman which stands at 5 feet 2 inches tall yet is a woman of very strong faith. They have one child. Which is name Mandy; she is a very sweet little girl who loves her family dearly. She had her daddy’s big brown eyes and her mother black hair when she grows up she is going to be a real heart breaker they say. Now Mandy is at the tender age of ten years old. She loves to helping her dad with the trees go out to see if any are getting sick or need to be thin out are to plant new baby trees. Yet she is always helping her mama with the gardening that they have to do for they can most of there food so that they will have food for the winter. She is in the home that her great grandma and grand daddy build even though it has been added on two are three times. There are three family which are in this house, her ma and daddy and grandma and grand daddy also her uncle and his wife and there son. Who are Jewel her aunt and Lowell her uncle and there son Mick, but they all call him Mickey. He and his dad are the ones that take care of the animals on the farm. They were very self sufficient families when it comes to meeting there needs. With Julie being one that had been to college before she got married, she was able to home school the kids. For they did not want there kid to be corrupted by the bad things that were going on in the world today. Although they had there friends at church and the socials that there little town had every year. So it was not like they did not have good things that come from being around other people besides there family.7

It was a Monday, Mandy and Her Daddy were out looking at the trees doing there normal check of them when Mandy saw this strange lights coming from some trees off in the distance. Just as she was about to go and see what this was her daddy call her so she forgot about the lights and went to see what he needed. Not knowing that in time these lights would prove to be very important to her one day. Her daddy had some baby trees, and want Mandy help him plant them, for he knew that she did so love to plant things. Mandy was so glad that she got to plants some of the seedling For her daddy had always told her that with every new tree that was planted that there were putting more good air in the land for all. It was a way to heal the earth from all the bad air. This kind of made her feel like an earth doctor. All in all the day was turn out to be a really good one. When they got back to the house Mandy help her mama and her aunt fix dinner for all. This was one of the most important times of the day for this was the time that all gather together and give thank to God for all they had and for his protection that he give them. It was also the time that every one told about there day. After dinner was the time that they did there study for schooling which would last about 3 hours before they would be getting ready for bed. Today had been a good day for all. They had a new calf that was born and hoping to have at least three more before the end of the birthing season. The night was just cool enough to really make it nice for sleeping. Mandy was tired from the day and was ready for bedtime. As she said her prayer and got into bed she felt that this was going to be a good night for dreaming. Mandy drifts off to sleep with no problem and begin dreaming of the lights that she had seen earlier that day in the trees. It was in her dream that she could sense the important of this light. Yet just as she was getting to the light in her dream she is woke up by her mother as it was that Mandy had slept late. It was a new day and the sky were clear and it looks as if it is going to be another great day. This was the day that men were to come and cut down and get all the trees that had gotten to big for there farm. This would bring in much needed funds for the family. For this money would be what they all would depend on for a few years, to pay bills and have money for emergences that might come up. This cutting was something that the family did every ten to fifteen years. Yet there was one part of the tree farm that there were never any trees cut from. That part of the farm trees were always to stay safe from being cut. Although they didn’t really know why except that it had all way been that way and it was the one thing that been told to them from the beginning of there farm when there great grand daddy started this place. So this was the way that it must and would stay as long as this place was in there family.8

Well the day is going good so far here it is at lunch time and they have already double what they made last time when they had the tree thinned out. This will give the family a little edge for the year. Mandy had forgotten about the light in the tree with every thing that as been going on today. She had even forgotten about her dream. For she had been told that if they did really good on the tree thinning that she would be able to get a new bicycle, instead of have to use one that had been redone from old ones that had been around the farm. So at this time that is all she had on her mind she was wants a pretty green bicycle with a horn and a light on it. Her daddy smiles at her and ask her if she would like to go tomorrow and pick out her bicycle at the store? To which she tells him oh daddy that would be great thank you. Life was good for all at this time in there life’s. If only it could stay as good as it is at time. But it seems that all things must change. Mandy’s Aunt Jewel whom she loves a great deal. She is the one who taught them there schooling and the one that she always told her secrets too. Everyone was thinking that Jewel was going to have a baby because of the way she was feeling and the way that she was gaining weight. Well It just so happen that while they were at the store aunt Jewel past out cold. They call 911 and they took her to the hospital It was there that they find out that she had a tumor and it looks bad. This just broke Mandy’s heart. So she told her Daddy to keep the money that he was going to buy her bike with to use it to pay on the bills for her Aunt Hospital stay. This makes her daddy so proud of her. That she would be willing to give up something that he knew that she wants more than anything to help out with the bill. Mandy my baby girl you are really turning out to be quite a lady. Oh daddy, thank you but let’s just get my aunt well if we can. That is the most important thing right now she response to him. You are so right my child that what we will do her daddy tells her. Well the day came and her Aunt went to the hospital to see about the tumor, they were all expecting to be cancer for sure. With it being as big as it looks on the x-ray. But thank god it was not cancerous it was just very big; in fact it was a big as a basket ball. It weight ten pounds it was the biggest that the doctor had seen with out it being cancer. This really made Mandy so happy knowing that her Aunt was going to be ok now. With the extra money that came in from the selling of the tree they had thin they all agree to have it go for the hospital bills , for none of them want to have a debit.9

In a few days her daddy told them that he was going to be away for a couple of days. He didn’t even them any real reason of why are where he was going Mandy’s mom didn’t seem to really be worry about it. It was if she knew what this was all about. Mandy ask but the only things her daddy told her was They would let her know when she was older. As he was getting ready to go Mandy notice that he was putting stuff in the truck that she had never seen before one thing that had her interest was this big black box. She ask her daddy what that was, but all he would say is that it was something that she would know all about when the time was right for her to know. He gave her a big old kiss and finish loading his truck for he would be leaving later that night. Mandy would already be in the bed a sleep when he would leave. So he wants to spend a little time with her doing some fun things.10

So when he was all through he call her to come and see what he had for her she went and found that her Daddy had gotten her a new bike and it was her favorite color she is so happy that she had at the best daddy in the whole world at least to her anyway. The day seems to go bye so quickly that it was already time for supper. Mandy’s mom had fixed all the best dishes that every one loves. Mandy ate so much that she didn’t think she would be able to eat again for a week. She kiss her daddy good night and told him to come back soon for she was going to miss him so very very much. He replies to her you know that I will my sweet pea. 11

Well she was happy with this. Well it seem like all of this was just as a dream now. For it had been so many year ago, for she was now twenty one years old now. And in to weeks she would be getting married to the great guy. Her husband was not the great things to look at but he had the most wonderful heart. He had the reds hair and the greens eyes. He was not a very muscular man but that did not mean he was not a strong man. For he was very strong being that he was a logger. Now his name was Benny but everyone just call Red because of his hair. Now they had met. It was almost loved at first site when his company that he works for. They had come to clear out all sick and bad trees and to thin them out so that all the rest of the tree. This is so that all the other trees would grown big and strong. 12

As Mandy sat and was thinking about how she would not have any one of her family here for her wedding. For her Mom and Daddy had been killed two year before in a car wreck. Hear grandparents had died when she was sixteen. And all the rest had moved away and had started there own life’s somewhere else she still heard from them every once and a while. But they had all sign off on the lands and the tress so that it all belongs to Mandy now. She has kept it the way it had been for years. It was good enough for her, plus she had her degree in teaching so she did work in town as a teacher. She belongs to a little small church in town which is where she would be getting married. It was going to be a small wedding with just a few friends and the people at her church that she was close too. They were both member of the same church and had been for three year now. Everything was looking good for them and the wedding that would be come up soon. They were only going to have a very small wedding with about ten people at the most. Her best friend Sue would be standing up for her as her maid of honor. They had been friend since Mandy had start going to the school in town. This was when she had turn thirteen years old. Now Sue had always been a thin tomboy but had the heart of a saint. Which is what had draw Mandy to her in the first place it was as if they had been sister in another life. Sue had mouse brown hair but she it have the prettiest green eyes. As with Mandy Sue grew into a really beautiful woman. As Mandy had become a teacher, Sue had become an excellent artist with her art much in demand. Some time if was if they knew what each other was thinking before they said it. They had went and pick out Mandy dress it was just a very simple white dress with little rose on it for trim. Her veil they had made the self with getting a ring of little silk roses from the place that sale stuff to made clothes, To which they had bought a very thin laces which the would attach to the ring of flowers, the veil would only be a very short one and would only cover the be of her hair. It was still very very pretty and Mandy was very happy with it. Sue dress was just a simple little green dress with the little silk rose on it too. It was hard to believe that in less then a week she would be Mrs. Mandy O’Connor.13

Mandy got to thinking that there just might be something that she could use up in the attic. So she and Sue went up the to look and were they really surprise to find this old wardrobe which had the prettiest dress in that had been her aunt’s wedding dress. It was not fancy but it was wonderful. Well they took it and the bag with the veil in down stairs, so that they could have a better look at it. It almost took there breathe away for it smell just like roses, and there was not one bad spot are any thing on it at all. It was great it would not even have to be clean which really surprise them to and in it the bag was the veil that her grandmother had made and it was just the best it had the same smell of roses that the dress had Mandy said well this will be the dress I will wear . Sue said well I don’t think that you could do any better. Mandy was so glad that she had found that dress it really made her happy for it would be like some of her family would be there at her wedding after all. Her flower were going to be her mother daisy which she would pick the day before the wedding and fix them up with a bow of white and pink ribbon. The daisies were some that her mother had started years ago. And with each New Year is seem like there got prettier and prettier. So everything was ready now just had to wait for the day. Well the phone rang and it was some one from the church they were calling her to tell her there would be no church Sunday for the church flooded when a pipes had broke and it was going to take at least a month or two to be cleaned and new pews and stuff bought.14

Oh My! What will I do now! Where can we get marry now? Then it was like she could hear her mother voice in her ear saying why not get marry in the little grove where all the flowers grow and the butterfly and humming birds are. Then out of her mouth just like she was replying to her mother she said that is a great ideal. To which Sue look at her and reply what is a great Ideal? The she told Sue about what had came in her head and they decide to go look and see if it would really work and it was beautiful, why there was even a kind of arch way that was of White and Yellow Roses. This was going to be just the greatest. The next day when Benny arrives she took Benny there to see it. To see if he thought that it would be ok to get marry there, he was so surprise that a place could be so pretty. Why honey this is the most perfect place there could be to get marry. So at last it was all set up to when and where it was going to be. Now all they had to do was wait till the day came.15

Chapter 216

The wedding and her new life with Benny17

Well at last the day was here but the weather man had said that it was going to be raining all day. This means that they would not be able to get marry where they had plain to. Mandy was so up set that she was almost in tears. Benny told her honey please stop worrying there dose not look like a cloud is in the sky. At last they were all there, even though there were only ten of them there. The day looks like it was going to be great for them. The wedding went perfectly in everyway why it was almost like the whole place was happy for her. The butterflies were every where birds singing sweet too. Sue looks at the preacher wife; you know I think that I have never seen two people happier than they are right now. To which she replies I do believe you are right and smiles well they went back to the house and had Sandwiches and Ice Tea, then of course the wedding cake even though it was really small it was so pretty. It was White with small Yellow Roses and White Daisy on it. They visit for a while then at last they all left to go home. It was just her and Benny alone at last. They had a wonderful night of making love. Benny and Mandy were both new to this for they had both save there self for the day that they met the one that would be there soul mate and marry. This made this night of love making even more special to them even if they were both nerves about it.18

Mandy had no ideal that it was just ten mile down the road it was raining like cats and dogs. Why it had been raining all day some of the roads were even beginning to flood. She and Benny would not know that till the next night when they at last turn on the TV to see the news. This is when they found out that every where but 20 miles around them was getting rain that was really bad. Lots of places were beginning to flood and even in some places people had to be rescue by police in boats. They look at each others and say “WOW”! Almost at the same time, Mandy calls Sue to make sure she and the others were all ok. After a few days everything was kind of getting back to the normal. Mandy and Benny didn’t thinking any about the fact that there little small town or village which was about ten miles from where there home and land was. In what some people were beginning to say this was a strange place of safety from all harm. It was that way with everything in this one small area. Which really didn’t bother anyone there anyway in fact they like it that way. Until it was getting around where there was a news story on the TV about there little area. Which was bringing a lots of things and people that was not really welcome by the town’s people are Mandy and Benny. That’s when things really started get strange for people and things were begin to start to go missing and there was only one little girl which saw any thing . To which she could only say one thing it was the green lights. 19

Well no one knew what to think about this so in time it was forgotten. The news story about it was found to have to correct itself and tell that it was the army that was doing some fly over at night that was making it look like it was green lights. As for the people and stuff that had gone missing well they show up some where else. If someone was to ask them what had happen to them and how they got there they would just look at them and say none of your business go away. Mandy and Benny had been married about two month now. When Mandy was starting to have a need to go somewhere but she didn’t know where. It was if there was something that she was suppose to do but she was not sure just what it was only knew that it was very very important to her and her family . Mandy was being to think that it might be because she could be with child She was not for sure yet , she had and appoint with her doctor in a week then she would know for sure. This was a very small town so it only had one doctor in it. But if it was some thing that he could not handle he would send then to the big city that was about 75 miles away. It was kind of funny though Benny had said that he was beginning to have these strange dreams and how they were very important to her and Mandy. Mandy look’s at him with a look that was, as if to say or you ok dear. Benny told her Mandy honey I am not nuts it is just dumb dreams that really don’t mean anything. Mandy had forgotten how her family had was learn thing from there dreams. Plus the fact that in there dream they could fix things with the help of stuff. Only her Mom and dad had die before they had told her anything about that. 20

Mandy sure did like old doctor Henry he was a very sweet man who really cares about the people who he was caring for, Why he had been there to delivery all most all of the people in this town. Mandy was born at home so he didn’t get to deliver her but he had been her doctor every since she was about 16 years old so to her there was no better doctor. He was about 67 years old now and his son who Mandy had gone to school with there with him now and was a doctor too. Which help out his father a lot? Yet most people really didn’t think of him as being a doctor except for the teenager they all want him to be there doctor. He the end it would end up as always with the town having one doctor of the town. For the son who was the young doctor was the one that would be taking over when his father got where he could not do his practice anymore. Mandy was sure hoping that it would not be until after her baby was born if she was with child. When she call to talk to Doctor Henry he told her that if she was with child that he would be there for her and this gave Mandy a little peace of mind. With this being her first child she was wanting everything to be perfect. Although what ever the God bless them with, her and Benny with would be fine with and still feel blessed.21

That night when Benny got home and they talk a while,22

Honey you know every one at school was so happy for her. Why they all told her that everything would be great for her and Benny. Well sweetheart that sounds really good. I know that you will be the prettiest little mommy. Well I thank you my love for that she replies as she smiles back at him. That night when they went to bed and to sleep things were going to happen, that they would not remember till months later. They both woke up feeling great. Yet as they were going to tell each other about the strangest dream, which they had all they could tell was that it sure did make them wake up feeling great. As Mandy went to make up the bed she found leaves in the bed which was really strange but just passes it off that maybe Benny got them on his feet when he went out on the porch last night before going to bed. So she changes the sheets and goes to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee. Again she was finding leaves and pine needles all through the house, Mandy was fixing to get really mad about this when Benny said sweetie I think we left the back door open last night as he shut it. Mandy look at him and thought to her self oh that were all this has stuff come from. Then tells him yep look’s that way we have got to be a little more careful about that. Even though were they live it would kind of be hard for anyone to get in there house for when it was dark out side it was dark as dark could be that’s life in the country. So that was not what she would be worrying about a person getting in the house, but some wild animal might get in.23
