Do You Hate My Blood? Chapter 2

This Dumbledore guy kept explaining different things. He mentioned classes. These weren't the classes you were used to attending. Potions and Defense Against The Dark Arts and Charms and Care For Magical Creatures! The list went on and on! This man must be out of his mind! He expected you to believe all this! "Oh, yes. You must also change your currency to that of the magical community," he added.1

"And what would that be?" you asked after you noticed your mother was still in shock from everything he already said.2

"Galleons, Sickles, and Knuts."3

"How do I get those?"4

"By exchanging your English currency at Gringotts."5

"Gringotts?" When you asked that, he went into a long talk about what Gringotts was. To summarize it: Gringotts is the wizard bank. You were beginning to understand. Then he started talking about books and supplies. Your ears perked up at the word 'wand.' "A wand? Like a real magic wand?"6

"Yes." That was enough for you! You used to pretend that you had a magic wand that would bring things from upstairs down to you. "So, how do I get there?" you asked Dumbledore after your flashback.7

"A train will depart from King's Cross on September first."8

"Cool. Which platform?"9

"9 3/4." You gave him a questioning look. He explained how to get there. Throughout all this time, you mother looked like she was going to faint! At the end of the entire meeting, Dumbledore handed you a couple of things. One was the train ticket. Another was a pouch of floo powder. He explained how to use it. The other was a key to a new Gringotts fault so you could put things that you wanted. He handed you an envelope that had a map of Diagon Alley in it. "I hope to see you on the first day of school Miss Reynolds," he said before departing. He stepped out the door and disappeared in the blink of an eye.10

"Must be magic," you thought with a smile. You went back to your mother and her dazed expression.11

"So, there's a magic school?" was what she said. You laughed to yourself. You gave her a brief description of what Dumbledore said. "Is that all?" she asked.12

"Pretty much."13

She nodded like she understood, but it was clear that she didn't. She stood up. "I'm going to go and relax upstairs and process this," she said blankly. She walked up the stairs.14

You sat down on the couch and looked at all the magic stuff. This was incredible! All your life, you thought magic was real. It had to be! Now you had proof! Unless this was all a scam. Then again, how could the letter be addressed to your room? How could that man have just disappeared on the spot? It had to be magic! Your father came home a few hours later. You were still reading through everything. Your mom was still relaxing upstairs.15

"I'm home, family!" you dad called as he walked in the door. He always had a big entrance.16

"In here, dad!" you called to him.17

He came in. "What are you holding?"18

"Some stuff a guy from the magic school dropped off. It's so cool! Can I go?"19

"What did your mother say?"20

"She didn't follow. I think it was too much for her. So, what do you say?"21

"I'll have to talk to your mother first."22

You sat back and looked over the map around Diagon Alley. You hoped you would be able to go. It would be a dream come true! While studying the map, you heard your father go upstairs. About ten minutes later, he came back down. "What did she say?" you asked him eagerly.23

"As long as you promise to write us."24

You knew what that meant! You dropped everything on the couch and gave your dad a hug. "Thank you both so much!"25

"Just make sure that you don't change too much."26

You smiled. He let you go. The two of you talked for a while and discussed how the next couple of weeks would be planned out. Tomorrow, the three of you would go to Diagon Alley to convert your money to make wizard money. Then you'd go around and get what you needed. The letter had a lot of things. You couldn't wait to see magic all around you! And the wand. That was what you were looking forward to the most. Your new life was about to begin!27
