A Letter to Hunter

1

You don’t know me yet but nearly twenty five years ago I held your Dad just like I’m holding you now. It gives me an immense amount of pleasure being able to touch you, to bond as it were.  Hopefully you’ll grow into a fine young man who is worthy of all our respect. For now, I just wanted to tell you, I love you for who you are and what you represent to me. 2

You are the future generation that will carry the Long name well into the twenty-first century. Wear the name proudly. Your predecessors weren’t saints by any means but they all succeeded in one thing; bringing another generation quietly into this world. Hunter, I wish you best as you begin this journey called life and I promise to do everything in my limited ability to make that road less bumpy. 3

Your Grinpa, 4

Leo Long5

    A+

This letter is so heartfelt that it almost brought tears to my eyes. I'm a wee bit envious of you my friend, but my time will come...all in good time. I'd like for Billy & Lisa to be married, settled somewhere before they bring a little one into this world. One thing for sure...I'm gonna have tall, smart grandkids; I kinda hope just one at a time but Billy's dad is an identical twin and there's twins on my dad's side. I also really like your tshirt, my friend since I was an electrician's wife. Excellent, sincere, heartfelt write my friend swp

Another precious tribute to this beautiful new grandson, Leo! This one left me with tears in my eyes. Your line "For now, I just wanted to tell you, I love you for who you are and what you represent to me..." touched me so deeply! It speaks to that instinct within us that loves our children, and grandchildren, simply by virtue of the fact that they are our flesh and blood. Not because of their abilities, talents, or achievements, but just because they belong to us. They are part of all those generations who came before them. A little piece of immortality. This was so beautiful! Truly, something that one day, Hunter will cherish! Beautiful, my friend!

My hubby is an electrician so I loved the shirt too. Becoming a grandparent is a thrill and your whole life changes again. Enjoy the time with Hunter as he is young,. You know how fast kids grow up. We (grandparents) are so much wiser now too. Nice thought.

    Dearest "Grinpa" Leo --

Hunter is SO privileged to have YOU as his Grinpa; and you will teach him well. A lovely, sincere write, which I adored. Congratulations once again to you all.

I could not help laughing at the slogan on your T-shirt, Poet ... it is exactly that "electricity" between people that results in such lovely tokens of love!

This is a very heart warming little letter to your grandson. It's these type of things that will help our futurer generations realize how special they are to us. Not to mention tell them stories that can be passed to their children. Congratulations & Well done.

GRINPA!!!! I'm tickled and indeed such a treat it is to see yet another view of Hunter. With the Long line of caring hearts behind him, how could he turn out to be anything other than wonderful. That is one lucky and adorable boy you have there, Grinpa.

Now, pack these in his memory trunk along with those signed books to him and somewhere in the distant future he will share them with his son - with the same intense pride you are feeling at this moment.

    Truly a perfect miracle.
