Ticket To Ride [McFly Fanfic] - Chapter 1

“Soon,” Harry’s mother muttered in reply to a question his father had asked through the phone. Lately it seemed his parents couldn’t have a conversation that didn’t involve sighs or sympathetic “Oh, I know”s. Harry slowly walked up the stairs to the light tan coloured hallway that led to his old room, which he’d been sleeping in for the past week. Sleeping, and nothing else. Because ever since him and his mates Danny, Dougie and Tom had returned home from their three month tour he’d been out and about with them.1

McFly had been on a roll that had no end in sight. Harry enjoyed being known for what he loved doing most. It was a huge bonus that he got to live his dream with the boys best described as his brothers. However, all of this fame had come with an expensive price. None of the boys were allowed to go anywhere without a flock of googly-eyed fan girls (and the occasional boys) screaming their names. He didn’t dare complain, nor did any of the other members. They’d worked nonstop to get to where they were. They all knew that this was what they wanted, consequences unfortunately included. 2

A few steps away from his poster covered door he could hear his cellular phone’s obnoxious ring from within the room. He rolled his eyes. No doubt it’d be Dougie updating him on how wonderful his date with his girl of the month, Jane was. Just the thought of his friend’s over-enthusiastic voice sickened him slightly. Harry knew better than to encourage his pal when dating yet another starry-eyed fan girl. Dougie had the tendency of falling for the wrong girls much like Harry.3

Unlike Harry however, he never learned his lesson and always wound up heartbroken wallowing like there was no tomorrow. This was until the next fake tanned bimbo appeared pretending to give a shit. It wasn’t that Danny and Tom didn’t want to help Dougie, they just believed it wasn’t their place to intervene. Perhaps it was the best to let their foolish minded mate learn his lesson on his own. Still, Harry never felt right acting as if he wanted to hear yet another tale about Dougie’s insane dates. Oh, the things fools did for love. 4

Harry pushed his door opened and leapt across his room. It was obvious his room belonged to a boy, not because it was messy. In fact it was quite organized, something you wouldn’t expect from a drummer in a famous band who barely had time to be home anymore. Another thing you’d notice right from when you stepped foot into his room without even knowing him was that he was an artist. From the drum set in the corner, to the posters plastered all around his room, down to the way he had pictures and lyrics on notebook paper sprawled out on his desk. He was definitely artistic. 5

He grabbed his phone off his bedside table before it’s last annoying buzz. Surprisingly, when he flipped it open the voice that yelled “hello” back at him wasn’t the voice of his perky pal ready to engross in a conversation about what his date wore and how beautiful her eyes were. In fact it was a voice he hadn’t heard in ages. The shock of hearing this familiar tone caused him to laugh out loud in disbelief. “TOR,” he shouted a bit too loud and sat himself on his black leather couch. “Hey, you.. I though I’d never hear from you again,” she joked. “Oh, and that’d be so tragic?,” he laughed. “Yes, yes it would be tragic. You are one of my closest friends, need I remind you.” 6
