Reflections

I grabbed my bag and clambered onto the cramped bus. Flamboyant colors flashed around me, everyone competing for the most daring outfit. Dust blurred my eyesight but looking out the window I could still barely make out the reflection in the opposing bus. Laughing at nothing in particular his smiling eyes locked with mine. Looking away I blushed and pretended to look through my bag for something. It was blazing hot and the humidity was on everyone's nerves causing arguments and loud swearing to echo in my ears. This didn't faze me though and suddenly the bus jerked to a crawling pace. I saw his reflection slowly melt away and instead my eyes began to follow the gray landscape flashing by. As the last buses left, branching off and leaving a trail of dust and wind that blew my hair into my eyes. I glanced at my reflection-a blushing girl with straight muddy amber hair, dull gray eyes, and large chapped lips-and wondered if there was any possibility what-so-ever.Another weekend of waiting was to come. In two days I would see him again, but still my heart ached. Just today we had laughed about homework and movies. Just today I wished upon a star. And still, I felt alone. Being alone haunted me, but I continued to wish, and hope, and maybe one day...

    I believe that this story is a good beginning. I love the rawness of it, with the reality of how love truly makes heartache.

    I don't believe that the story is complete though, as it's pretty short. But good descriptions. I would love to read more!
