Running vigorously down the street to catch my friend, little did I know what had happened to her. She'd disappeared. 1
Where was she? Would she ever return? Was she in danger? Questions were racing through my head as fast as the blood poured from my body. 2
I tried so hard to keep up the pace, keep up the chase, but all my efforts had been futile. I was being slowed down by my wounds. I had no chance to catch the kidnappers. 3
As I fell to my knees, exhausted, I saw something unusual. 4
In the middle of the cobbled street, there was a glove. It seems it had fallen from someone who was in a rush. 5
I picked it and it was still soaked with sweat. Inside, there was Helen's hairpiece, and the front had the clue of her whereabouts. The embroiled shield wielded the bearings of Lord Lucas. 6
How could he? I would have never thought him capable of an ambush on his best friend and the kidnap of my betrothed, Lady Helen. I had to pay him a visit. 7
In the mean time, I had to keep a low profile if I wanted to return safely. I grabbed a peasant's outfit and continued my journey in search for answers. 8
The night was approaching and, at last, I reached the imposing dwelling where Lucas resided. 9
The door screeched as I pushed it slightly with my finger. The house looked unwelcoming. However, I had to confront him. Whether I'd live or die. I sneaked through the back, the servants' entrance. 10
It was late. I quietly walked upstairs, hiding behind columns and shadowy corners to avoid being noticed by the guards. 11
I heard voices whispering and overheard a woman pleading to be free.
I waited. Finally, I was alone in front of the master bedroom. The moment of truth awaited. 12
I knocked on the door, I entered the room, my head hidden under the hood, I approached the lord of the manor and questioned his intentions. 13
- "Tonight, she'll be mine” he replied.14
My suspicions were true; he was a ruthless traitor. 15
I left the room and created havoc by burning down curtains along corridors. 16
Lucas left the bedroom to take control of the situation. Panic flooded everywhere. 17
I untied Helen and we readied to escape. 18
A cool breeze ran up my spine as I asked myself where I was. A whole new world in front of me. How to get out? What to do? 19
Getting into the castle had been easy, I just followed a squire. However, leaving the castle was proving difficult. 20
The buildings were daunting; there were too many passages, corridors, quarters… all poorly lit. It was difficult to find the exit whilst avoid getting caught. Even the outskirts were a labyrinth of streets, narrow alleyways and crammed houses. 21
In the rush to leave, I dropped my ring. Just my luck! Lucas knew I had been there. 22
By then, it was too late, we had already escaped.23

A great story but I would try extending your vocab in some places, you use similar words is all. Yet in other places you blow me away lol it's like a catch 22.
I loved your imagery tho, flawless.

The reason this story is a bit limited in vocabulary, scenes and descriptions is because of the restriction placed in the contest of max. 500 words.
I am working on expanding this story in more detail and called it Just my luck - Long version (also available to read) and will continue to work on it too.

Spontaneous :D
3 prompts used! That's an achievement. I liked your story very much and found all parts VERY interesting
I do believe that you have a good chance of winning, and apoligize for the judging date being held back, but this is due to not many people entering.
I wish you luck.
