[whump]! 2

Quickly a crowd gathered 'round the pancaked man. They tilted their head this way and that, and, murmurs, of "ooo's" and "ahhhh's" were heard. 3

"Did you know him"? 4

"Nope" 5

"Not I" 6

"Not me" 7

"Nope" 8

"Nope" 9

A woman covered her child's eyes, and quickly led him away; far away. And the crowd, they just stared, and wondered. Then the police arrived, with all their bells and whistles. 10

“Twarn't the fall that kilt him", the high sheriff said.
"Twas that abrupt stop at the end". 11

The next day, in the Daily Rag, on page four, it told the story. 12

Seems the man had lost a vote of confidence, among his stockholders, and; his wife had left him a month ago, and; his son was awaiting trial on a drug charge, and; his daughter had run off with a biker gang, and; his life just wasn't very graceful anymore...... 13

At his funeral [closed casket], some of his old associates showed up. But, not his wife, or his daughter.14

But his son, his son, his son; he showed up. He was stoned, and full of rage. 15

"Why did you leave me", he screamed, "in this, my hour of need"! 16

Then, two men held him, and a doctor pushed a needle in his arm, and all was quiet again. 17

The son was whisked away in an ambulance, the father left in a hearse. Now, they both reside in a place of their choosing. and neither worries anymore about falling from Grace. 18

Author notes

The story of a family in self-destruction mode begins. They are all headed the same place, but they don't know it...
