Light

The lights danced their way around New York City. Music blasting from all the clubs. Screams of terror and pain, along with grizzly laughs broke through the alleyways.1

I made my way down the block steadily. Watching around me carefully at fear of getting caught. I was just about to step on the sewer drain when the shrill voice rose behind me. "Step aside or die!" I turend to the voice, placing my right hand on my left hip where my knife rested. 2

"How nice to see you again Jolina." I spoke as I started to regognize her. 3

She squinted her eyes, "Cringe, Cringe is that you?"4

"Yes, but I don't go by that anymore I go by my real name Gage." She smiled and stepped closer, the light shown down on her full now. Her straight blonde hair stretching to the middle of her back. HEr deep blue eyes, shinning. Skinny little thing she was, nice rack though, I noticed as I made my back up to her face. "Jolina, your beautiful." 5

She scoweled at me and my hope of embracing her into a friendly hug dimished. Apparently she didn't like being called 'beautiful' by an ex-boyfriend. She spoke in her simple shrill voice, "What are you doing in this part of town? I haven't see you since summer three years ago. How have you been? What have you been up to?"6

I stared at her blankly trying to figure out how to answer her. "I'm here to find a girl named Lucera, my friend sent me for her I'm not exactly sure why though. I've been fine lately, trying to figure out if the whole true love is out there somewhere for everyone nonsense is true. Speaking of which have you foud anyone new?"7

She smiled and nodded. "So who is this Lucera, girl, you were sent to find?" 8

I shrugged wondering that myself. The man I'd been staying with, Melvin, was the one who sent me for this girl. He was 27 years old, seven years older then me. He always sent me to find people for him. I never got to figure out what he did with the people I sent him. They would be there then I would come back and they would be gone. 9

"Well, Jolina I really must go. I hope to see you again soon." She nodded and turned her back to leave. Jerking out her phone and starting a new converstaion, with another guy I guessed. 10

I looked back to the sewer drain again, stepping onto it lightly. I was instantly transported to a 7th dimensional world. I stared at the place, that lay in ruins in front of me. Apparently their last party got a bit out of hand.11

The place was all sand and gravel. Building crumpled into ashes, lights dead, noise soundless. Small fires still burned through some of the larger buildings. The whole area smelled of beer, and pee. 12

This is where the girl was said to be, but starring at the place now it would be a miracle if anything was alive. I grabbed my gun out. Stepping along carefully. The wind blew the sand around into my face, making the view very difficult. 13

"Lucera, Lucera, Is there any friken kid here named Lucera. Please come out not or enjoy your life in agony here." A door started to open from the ground. A young girl came out. She had medium black hair thrown around in tangles. Silver blue eyes met mine, tears streaming from them down her face. Bruises and scratches lined her body. Her outfit was trashed too, only a dress, which was ripped all along and dirty. 14

"Who...are...you? Why...are...you...here? Who...sent...you?" Her voice was chocked, as if in more pain than could be seen from the outside.15

"My name is Gage. I'm here to get you my friend Melvin sent me..." Her eyes got wide and she shook in fear.16

"Please leave. It's to dang....dangerous. If they come back you will die.....all of us will die." 17

I stared at her in shock, what did she mean we would die, all of us. Who else did she have here? I stepped closer to her trying to be careful. If we really were in danger I didn't want to make the situation worse. 18

I stuffed my gun swiftly back in to my pocket. "Lucera, who else is here with you? And what do you mean if they come back? What's going on here?" 19

"It's complicated. Please leave though. I can't explain anything to you at fear of mine and your life. Whoever Melvin is and whatever he really sent you for was some stupid suicide mission."20

I looked at her eyes I could tell she was lying. You can always tell someone is lying by their eyes. If they are telling the truth they can look at you, but if they aren't then they look around. She was looking around. I knew she knew more than she was telling me.21

I made it my mission to not just get her to Melvin, but to find out what she was lying about. 22

A cold breeze came around me. Lucera seemed to feel it too. Her body froze and eyes got wide as if she had seen a ghost. I reached out grabbing her wrist. "What's wrong Lucera?" 23

She pointed out into the middle of no where. The same direction from which I had come. I squinted my eyes trying to see what she saw but it was usless. There was nothing there. "What, kid, there is nothing there your crazy. Nothing will kill us and we are perfectly safe so lets get out of here and back to Melvin."24

I turned around still holding her wrist tightly ready to run. Suddenly a man all dressed in red and white stood there. "I'm not so sure about that boy. Someone may just kill you." 25

I looked to his face which was hidden by shadows. In his hand he held a Swick, a large sword with razors running along the edge and the ability to poisen your blood stabed at you. 26
