If I were given one wish, I would ask to erase the last year and a half from my memory. I would erase anything and everything reminding me of Casey, until things were back to the way they were before him. 1
It all started the first day of Freshmen year. Everyone looks forward to getting the perfect football star boyfriend in highschool, and I was no exception. But if I were able to start it all over, I wouldn't have given him a second glance.2
I was in the band, he was on the team. We were separated by a wall of sterotypes and expectations, but somehow we tried it anyway. 3
People began to talk, as lots do in high school, especially when people aren't exactly what the sterotype makes them out to be. I was the awkward band geek, dating the hot football star. I hid behind my hair and played the clarinet, he was the MVP and the quarterback. 4
Casey was from a disfunctional family. His mother had a restraining order on his father, because when he was younger, his father would get really drunk and start beating her. It never occured to me that he could grow up to be just like his father, until New Years Eve, about a month after we started dating. We were both at a house party, held at this girl's house that neither of us really knew. She was a cheerleader, so he had one of the first invites on the list. I was able to tag along, just because he was my football boyfriend. It was a good feeling to be finally accepted, and it was something I wasn't really used to so of course I jumped at the chance. 5
