Starts play age seventeen. Girlfriend Phoebe Tempest. High School sweethearts. Intention to take gap year and travel the world together. Decided to join the army instead. Many noble and good reasons to do so. Doesn’t understand Phoebe’s being upset. Egocentric in his character-is naïve about the way his decisions affect others in his world. Believes army will be noble and heroic, does not anticipate blood, death and misery. Is not prepared. Has ISSUES with communication. During the year apart they exchange letters and grow further apart due to experiencing things that the other cannot understand and not being able to explain to each other. This is further fueled by the fact that Vince has issues with communication and Phoebe feels abandoned and subsequently holds back to make him suffer. Returns from war age 24.2

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quality_Street_(play)
Our (untitled) play is based on J.M. Barrie's romantic comedy "Quality Street" 1902. We are updating it to 21st century and hopefully making it a musical. These are the two main protagonists and are our first thoughts on their modernised character development. Please give honest feedback. Anything you can think of is most welcome. Thank you!
