Once upon a time there was a prince named Reece.
He was the most handsome and charming of all the princes in the kingdom.
All the princesses in the kingdom wanted to marry him. But one by one they all failed to catch his attention.
They tried and they tried though.1
Princess Kelly went up to him one day and suggested they should go horse riding. Prince Reece loved horse riding so put on his favourite riding outfit with the gold trim.
They rode into the forest. He galloped gallantly ahead of Princess Kelly. Everything was going just fine. But then, Prince Reece’s horse bucked and threw him off landing him in a puddle of mud...
Prince Reece was furious! He pulled himself onto the horse with dignity and rode off, his trimmed outfit all muddy. That was the end of Princess Kelly.2
Princess Susan was somewhat smarter than Princess Kelly. She decided to show Prince Reece how great she was, thinking that once he knew her it would be almost impossible for him to not choose her.
So they went for a traditional night out, hit a couple of balls and such. The prince was a great dancer. The date was going great. Princess Susan thought she would finish the night off by sealing it with a kiss.
So as Prince Reece walked Princess Susan to her door step and said goodbye. Princess Susan leaned in for a kiss. Prince Reece was caught completely off guard and her kiss landed on his nose. It wrinkled and he jumped of the landing claiming she was too forward! Hmph... 3
Then there was Princess Kate. She had the title of being the fairest Princess in all the land and an expert flirt. She decided that a man was a man and her charm should be enough to sway him.
So one day at the vanity ball, she sat next to him and amped herself up. She batted her eyelids, offered him exotic tea and flicked her hair over her shoulders as often as possible. He smiled and laughed and the night was a huge success! Until Princess Kate overheard him mentioning how vulgar she was to his best companion, the Duke.4
The narrator, becoming increasingly tired of playing match maker scoured the kingdom for another Princess that could possibly steal this incredibly picky prince's heart.
Unfortunately the Bachelorette magazine was out of available princesses.
But in a column, that was barely ever read, was Pauper Jane.
After an interview with amazingly plain Jane, I realised that this was a very nice girl, with a nice smile, that would steal the Prince's heart with modesty.5
.... And so... Pauper Jane, or just Jan as she likes to be called. Went to meet the prince. She spent the day with him. Unfortunately his property was off limits to narrators, but I heard it was a fabulous day.
Jan came out beaming as if... possibly a marriage was on the horizon.6
So I left for a desperately needed vacation, planning to come back when the couple was happily wedded. The sun was shining and I managed to narrate a couple more happy endings along the way.7
When I came back it was all over the Happy Times, Prince Reece had made it official.
Jan had been a couple’s councillor and helped him deal with his problems. He had realised the reason he hadn't liked any of the other girls, he was in love with the DUKE!
Well... the Narrator being in an awkward position decided to re-evaluate her morals. Good for them!
So Prince Reece and the Duke rode off into the sunset and lived happily ever after. Prince Reece actually really liked the Princesses and they became best friends and they would get their hair done together. He introduced them to some of his good looking best friends and they lived happily ever after.
The Narrator realised that the last vacation hadn't been nearly long enough, so rode of in the sunset, heading for Tahiti.8
The END.

Author notes
I'm sure you guys knew how this is gonna end, and it's slightly stereotypical, but it was a fun write so I hope you enjoyed.

Loved it! I only saw it coming because it was linked to the GSA, which was disapointing becasue knowing the ending took something away from the suprise that was to come at the end...
I did not, however, anticipate him falling in love with the DUKE? of all people...
I also was thrown off by the fact that his 'property' was off limits to the narrator and she couldn't explain what happened that night. Nice work.

Hahas! Lovely! This, I really enjoyed reading. I loved the narration, the characters, and especially the twists. I did not spot any errors, but I wasn't exactly looking for them either.
Great job, keep up the great work! Also, thank you for telling this story.

Lol
Okay, I thought, critically speaking that the first paragraph was worded oddly but the rest was smooth sailing. I loved th concept and the story was short and sweet, nice work.

Nice Twist
Poor Jan, I'm sure she was hoping to move up to better living quarters and get on the Prince's low cost health insurance plan that had no deductible.
I wonder how forgiving Jan would have been, since she spent her last farthing to buy a decent dress to go out with the prince and was reduced to being "just friends."lol

I like it how it's the princesses who are chasing/courting the prince and not the other way around.
This was quite amusing. I love it how you take it out of the ordinary by writing about the narrator. Not sure if this quite counts as a fairy tale though..
It was very fun to read so thanks for entering!
