Don't Say A Word!

My mother was feeling bored one day, there was nothing much to do.  Her older sisters were busy with house-work as usual.  There was no one to play with; she glanced through the window, her four brothers were having running races to see who was the fastest.   She knew they wouldn’t let her play. Her father wasn’t even back from the police station where he worked.  Aha! She was going to play a trick on him! She grinned to herself.  Yes! That was perfect! 1

My mother looked over her shoulder to make sure no one was looking.  Her brothers were still racing outside; her sisters were quietly reading books, and mother was outside hanging up the washing on the washing line. Good! She thought.  So she sneaked into her father’s bedroom.  She knew exactly what she was going to do.  She scanned the room for pillows and saw some pillows, neatly piled in a corner of her father’s bedroom just the thing! She thought with pleasure.  So my mother, started stacking all the pillows behind the bedroom door till they reached the ceiling!  2

Then quietly she crept out of the bedroom, closing the door behind her and hurriedly took a book out of the bookshelf and pretended to be reading it, at that moment her father arrived home and opened the door to his bedroom…you can just imagine what happened, he got the fright of his life! Because as soon as he had opened the door, all the pillows my mother had stacked came crashing down on him.  Now he got pretty annoyed about that, and my mother’s brothers were inside the house laughing because of all the fun they had.3

"Who did that!" my mother's father demanded.  My mother and her sisters and brothers did not utter a single word,it seemed as if someone had cast a spell of silence on everyone. Her father glanced down at my mother and her sisters who were reading books and thought that they couldn’t have played the trick on him, and because of the fact my mother’s brothers were laughing, he thought they had played the trick on him, so he gave all of them a fine smack on the behind! 4

Secretly, my mother was laughing quietly behind the book, she had pulled out from the bookshelf, and she was feeling quite pleased with herself!5

This was so cute. I oove it when the sister can get the brothers in trouble. I have three of them, so I admire any girl who can outsmart their brothers, cause I have yet to figure out how. This was just adorable and funny. Thank you for sharing it with me! Best whishes!
