CHAPTER FOUR2

Jessie sat down onto the settee she looked directly at them both. “I came to warn you both that there are a couple of men in town, they arrived at lunch time. They came to mums and wanted to speak with me.”3

“What did they want?”4

“They wanted to know all about you Caianya they asked me whether you had changed or not I don’t understand. And then they asked about you Stephen.”5

“What did you tell them us?” Stephen asked quietly but calmly. 6

“I told them we have just met and that you both are friends you are friends aren’t you?” By this comment Caianya laughed yes Jessie we’re friends.”7

“What else did you say?” Stephen said through gritted teeth Caianya was the one who noticed the change in his eyes instead of his grey dove eyes they were now a steely grey.8

“I didn’t say anything I promise but they said some strange things.”9

“Like what?10

“Stephen.” She shouted and at the same time reached with her mind and shouting.11

“Stephen you are baring your fangs again let go of Jessie Stephen.”12

Stephen had got hold of Jessie his fangs had extended and he could see absolute terror on her face he pushed her away from him. Caianya went over to Jessie putting her arm around her friend’s shoulders. Jessie pushed her away headed toward the door. Stephen was there before her she screamed and stepped back.13

“Jessie don’t; listen to me Jessie shut up.”14

“What...what is he, Caianya what...”16

“Jessie listen sit back down and take a deep breath. This is way I didn’t tell you and why we have to leave...”17

“I don’t understand you were normal two days ago. I...”18

Stephen had moved away from the door into the hall-way giving the two friends some privacy. He had to admit Jessie was a tough young woman had courage and a true friend.19

“So what you are saying is that Stephen’s a vampire and the night you went out with the girls he made you a vampire.”20

“That’s right.”21

“So what are we going to do next?”22

Stephen could see that she was trying to take it all in.23

“What you are going to do Jessie you’re going home and will keep quiet about us.”24

“Can’t and won’t go home, you make me and I will tell also those men, they feel like death.”25

“Stephen didn’t say anything aloud “She’s right they are death.”26

“I don’t understand.”27

“They are vampire hunters and; they are what are called eternal vampire hunters.”28

“And”29

“They are hunters that never die they are destined to hunt our species for eternity. They can be destroyed but only by removing their heads. Many look half dead like the zombies, vampires and other supernatural creatures on the television screen. I haven’t explained it very well have I?”30

“No not really why not try again.”31

“The eternal vampire hunter sometimes their mortal body are dead so some have flesh hanging off like the zombies on television and the big screen Right. Some Hunters are still living they can only be destroyed by beheading.”33

“Ok. Where do they come from?”34

“From an ancient race nobody knows where they came from and how they became immortal to survive they need blood too.”35

“Ok. What’s going on?” Jessie asked, 36

“Nothing Um we were just talking.”37

“No you were not you were just staring into space again.”38

“Vampires, Jessie have several different powers but the one thing we all have is telepathy.”39

“Soooo you two were talking telepathically? Oh that’s stupid of course you were ok where do we go from here? You going to tell me about what you’ve just said.” Together they said no.40

“We have to leave Jessie I’m sorry but you have to come with us, they are here I’m not sure where exactly but close by.” Stephen said in a matter of fact way.41

“We can’t take her Stephen.”42

“Do you want her death on your hands because believe me love you don’t want to. Having death on your hands the guilt it brings and the shame it eats at you from inside, quietly he said, I should know.” Caianya walked over to him wrapped her arms around his neck kissed him on his lips.43

“I know. Come on Jess we need to get a bigger case from on top of the wardrobe.” Both screamed something hot was thrown it pierced her skin burning pain rocked her making her double over. Caianya noticed an arrow or something that looked like an arrow buried into her abdomen Jessie screamed again and this time she had been struck by a similar arrow. Stephen wasn’t sure what to do it was Jessie who made the decision.44

“You have to help Caianya I only have a shoulder wound and I think that I will survive.”46

Stephen knew different though, the arrow was poison in vampires it kills straight away but humans, maybe she’s right maybe she will live or at least until he saved Caianya. Jessie wasn’t as naive as he first thought.47

“Ok. She said gritting her teeth how do we stop them?”48

“You have to remove their heads that’s the only way. Here this will keep them on the defence it will give us some time.”49

It looked something like a gun put when she pulled the trigger a fiery red and Mediterranean blue exploded from it hitting one of them. As it struck Jessie watched as it sliced through bone and tissue ripping one of his arms off and more horrified when it regenerated. 50

“Come on Caianya stay with me. You are the one I have chosen to be my wife. I have been watching you for months and knew you are the one even before we met face to face. Don’t leave me.”51

Stephen proceeded to remove the arrow just as he suspected it had been made out of oak wood that was poisonous to all vampires born or made. And it had been dipped into something else something he didn’t recognize and was deadly. 52

“Jess you might want to turn away for a minute I will have to remove the poison from her body.” Jessie didn’t understand for a moment and then it dawned on her what he meant. Stephen sank his fangs into her soft skin; he felt the fire burning her killing her slowly from the inside out. As he took her blood he drew the poison out it seemed to take a very long time before he was sure that she would be alright and then he gave her his blood for the second time to help with he healing process. Jessie was almost unconscious her skin was white and clammy she was hardly breathing and she had been hit a second time.53

Outside everything was quiet he couldn’t sense the hunters either. Where were they he thought? Stephen turned his attention back to Jessie. 54

He couldn’t allow her to die Caianya would never forgive him and after all she did warn them and protected his back while he healed Caianya who was resting in her bed-room.56
