Mummy, Mummy, Mummy

Day 131

You should have seen me, Mummy, you should have seen! How quietly I crept, quietly, quietly like a tiny bug. I made not the slightest sound – they never saw me coming! They didn’t see as my shadow rose up behind them and I carved their face in! Oh yes! And the blood, there was so much blood. It painted my hands, Mummy. It was everywhere, dripping down and pooling on the ground, rivers of life from my hand – sweet and warm. I laughed – oh! – how I laughed. There were only two, just sitting there. Like fruits ripe for the plucking, and I, the fruit collector! I’ll remember the blood forever, Mummy. You know how I love it so, and I kept it. For another day I kept the blood – there was so much, so much waste! I was so clever Mummy, you would have been proud.2

Day 143

Oh! The blood, Mummy! It was good, like you promised, it was good. I laughed again today, the fools! They would never know! I can see them, all the time – watching! But never knowing – oh no! – never knowing. They’re trying to get me, but I’m too clever too good for them, I’m a lion among filthy rats! You know how they watch me, always watching. I can’t see them, but I know they’re there – pretending to be neighbors but really, they’re just trying to catch me. But they never will, I made my plans foolproof, nothing can go wrong! I’m sorry I have to keep you in the trunk, Mummy, I don’t want them to see you. I don’t want them to ask questions, it’s for the best.4

Day 155

I saved the blood again. It was almost as good as last time, almost as good. They started asking questions, Mummy. About the smell. They’re like filthy little vermin sniffing around where they shouldn’t be! I should kill them! Kill all of them – no! They’d all find me – that’s what they want, you know. To find me, but they won’t – oh they won’t! So I won’t do it, it’ll confuse them. They won’t find me out. I tucked the two away, Mummy. Under the floorboards, no one can find them. They’re too well hidden – I took every precaution – not one mistake did I make! Not one – I never do! Did you like your treat, Mummy? Did you like it? You got fresh air today, out from the trunk next to the candle – just like you asked me to. Just like you asked. It’s a shame Daddy had to go, he left you there. Where’d your body go? He hid that, but I found you, Mummy. Aren’t you proud? Proud of your son? I found one bit, one bit – your head, Mummy. That’s why you always talk to me, Mummy, telling me what to do. I always listen, always – to your every word.6

Day 167

He ate his words, Mummy, he did! I took revenge like you asked, just like you asked! He tried to stop me, but no! I was too good, too clever. The heart was good, just like you promised. The blood down my throat like warm water and the heart quivered and died in my grasp. I’m sorry, Mummy. I loved the smell. Silver… like silver and I had to. I got it in my hair, everywhere. I just rubbed it in, all over. It was warm and then it was cold when I finished. I put him in his cupboard, Mummy, next to Her. Remember Her? You never did like Her. Now She can suffer with the man in the cupboard, in hell. I haven’t washed, Mummy. Like you told me to, I’m sorry I didn’t, but it smells too good! Too good, it makes me salivate – too good. I’m sorry again. The maggots ate through your eyes when you weren’t looking! I got rid of them, its okay. They’re gone now, all gone – down my throat. A piece of your cheek is missing, Mummy! Where’d it go? I think I got caught up, Mummy, the smell was too good. I’m sorry, Mummy. It won’t happen again, I promise. I promise.8

Day 169

Its okay. I found them, they’re only little… not much in them. I won’t waste it like before. No, but they won’t see me, just wait, Mummy, just wait until tonight…10

They tasted good, Mummy. Their little bodies were full of it, so full and warm! I made her watch as I ate him... she vomited all over my carpet and she cried. But I didn't waste a thing, Mummy. Not one thing - I never make mistakes, never! The carpet's clean I did it myself, I was hungry - yes so hungry! I couldn't waste, her insides were better raw, Mummy. Without the food in her stomach, it was better raw.11

Author notes

Well I got the idea for this piece after reading The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe.

    Very sick and twisted indeed!
I enjoyed this story. You told it from the POV of a small child and the entire mood was eerie, sick, and just plain gruesome to say the least. I liked the protagonist's morbid fascination with their mother and how they ate each victim.

One problem I had, however, was a few spelling errors here and there, but I'm sure that you can fix those!

Nice job with this . Thanks for entering it in my contest and good luck.

I think its great words and sentences etc etc. good work
its kind of like what? at the start but thats okay because it all explains itself later. Kind of. Its realy emotional like powerful words that make me feel kind of sad and strange. which in this case is a good thing.
