A Scarred Face & Torn Heart

Chapter 1 A Broken Heart1

Brightheart padded into the clearing from the warriors' den.She spotted Squirrelflight with Foxpaw.The dark ginger she cat was younger then Brightheart & she got an apprentice!She even had lied to her Clan!2

Brightheart twitched her tail.When would she get her first apprentice?Maybe because I have half a face..3

She shook her head & padded to the fresh kill pile & picked up a mouse.She didn't feel that hungry,but she needed to think of something else.4

She took a bite."I hope I get to mentor Rosekit or Toadkit.." she whispered.She spotted Cloudtail chattin happily with Daisy,Spiderlegs mate.5

"Cloudtail is mine!" she growled to herself.Cloudtail looked happier with Daisy then he did with Brightheart.6

Was it because Daisy had a full face?7

Brightheart unsheathed her claws,if Swiftpaw was alive,they would be mates right now!8

She stood up when she saw Daisy purr & then Cloudtail licked her muzzle.9

"Hello honey!" murmured Brightheart to Cloudtail.He looked down."I am due for a patrol.." he muttered & then scurried off with Dustpelt & Spiderleg.10

Brightheart looked at Daisy."Cloudtail is mine!" she growled.11

Daisy bristled."What-what do you mean?"12

Brightheart unsheathed her long white claws."What do I mean?"13

"You are taking Cloudtail from me!"14

Daisy looked stunned."Brightheart!I see why you are angry,but-but I love him!Spiderleg doesn't love me!So I can't find a good mate!" she explained.15

Brightheart flattened her ears.16

"Cloudtail is MY mate,& will NEVER be yours!HE LOVES ME!NOT YOU!" she snarled.17

Daisy took a step back with fear in her eyes.18

"This-this isn't like you!" she stammered.19

The ginger & white warrior nodded."You are right!" she hissed.20

Cloudtail raced up to Daisys side."Brightheart!Leave her alone!She doesn't deserve to be treated like this!" he gasped.21

The one eyed she cats eye filled with sorrow."What?" she whispered.22

Cloudtail unsheathed his claws."I thought I'd never say this.But-I am done with you.In mine & your family,I only care for Whitewing & her kits!"23

He padded away with Daisy.The queen looked back.Her face looked to say "I've won.."24

Chapter 2 Talk 25

Brightheart woke up in the warriors' den.She felt cold without Cloudtails soft fuzzy fur next to hers.26

She bristled.Daisy & Cloudtail were mates now.27

"I will get revenge on Daisy.." she growled.Looking around the den she spotted only Mousewhisker,Thornclaw & Birchfall.28

She bristled when she looked at Daisys son,Mousewhisker.29

"Kittypets & loners!" she muttered."We should be called KittypetClan!"30

She stood up & shook the moss from her pelt.She hated having a scarred face & a missing eye.She remembered being an apprentice,bright & joyful..but now...now she was fierce & misrable!31

She padded out of the warriors' den.She saw Firestar talking with Brackenfur,Brambleclaw & Sandstorm.32

The one eyed warrior picked a vole from the fresh kill pile & lay down to eat.Then she saw Cloudtail & Daisy walk past her with twined tails.Daisy stopped beside the ginger & white she cat.33

"Having fun sleeping alone?" she sneered in her ear.34

Brightheart leaped up,frightening the cream colored queen.35

"You are STUPID for taking someone else's mate!" she yowled.36

She turned to Cloudtail."And YOU are STUPID for getting rid of the cat you brought back from the brink of death!" 37

Cats in the camp stared at her in horror & sorrow.38

Cloudtail swatted Brightheart in the bad side of her face,making another scratch."Don't you DARE talk like that to me or Daisy!Maybe I should have NEVER taken you as a mate!" 39

Then Cloudtail & Daisy turned away to the nursery,pelts brushing & tails twined.40

She looked at her leader,the filthy kittypet Firestar.41

Sandstorm was looking away,aswell as Brambleclaw..42

Brackenfur walked up to Brightheart."Brightheart,this isn't the real Brightheart.." he began sadly.43

"You're right!" she snapped to her older brother."I would never be like this if Daisy hadn't come to the Clan!"44

It wasn't exactly a lie.She didn't even like Daisy,not one bit.She thought Rosekit & Toadkit were okay,because there father was pure warrior blooded.45

"Brackenfur,I will handle this." Said Firestar sitting beside the golden brown tabby warrior.46

Once cats were out of range,he began."Brightheart what has gotten into you?"47

Brightheart flexed her claws."It is all because of kittypets & loners!" she growled.48

"What about your daughter?She is half kittypet?"49

Brightheart flattened her ears."I am fine with Whitewing.She is half pure warrior!"50

Firestar looked down at his paws."This is my fault.." he whispered.51

Brightheart nodded when he wasn't looking.52

"Brightheart.I hope StarClan forgives you.And I hope you calm down,because this isn't the real you..."53

Then he padded away.Not looking back.54

Brightheart lifted her tail.She knew StarClan agreed with her.They knew she deserved an apprentice.For Whitewings sake!She survived the dog attack,she survive the fire & much more!55

"I'll get an apprentice no matter what the cost is.." she growled.56

Chapter 3 Patrol57

The next day,Brightheart was eating a squirrel,at dawn.She was told to go on a patrol.She had to patrol the lake.She shivered.58

She never had to patrol the lake!Why?Because she was hidious!59

She burried her kill & went to the patrol,that included Thornclaw,Sorreltail,Squirrelflight & Foxpaw.60

"I'm ready!" she said to the patrol.Foxpaw looked away,Squirrelflight & Sorreltail just looked at each other.She bristled.61

"Greetings" said Thornclaw.Her brother licked her ear.Brightheart licked his ear too.Her brothers were the ones that cared for her most,even if Thornclaw was fierce & cunning.62

They headed on with the patrol.63

At the lake,Squirrelflight ordered her apprentice to search near the ShadowClan border.Sorreltail & Thornclaw check the far end of the lake while Squirrelflight checked the WindClan border.64

Brightheart was left alone..65

She padded stiffly up to the lake.When she looked into the blue green water.66

Brightheart tensed when she saw herself."I-I-I see w-why cats look at me the way they do.." she murmured.Rage burnt into her when she stared at her half scarred face & her missing eye & shredded ear.67

"StarClan made me look like this!" she snarled.68

She looked up at the sky.69

"What have I done to them?"70

Chapter 4 Who71

The next few days Brightheart spent the time alone,with no cat,not even her brothers.72

She wished she was well built like Sorreltail,or beautiful like Whitewing.Why was she like this?73

She twitched her tail.74

"I'm ugly.." she growled.She padded to the elders' den to see if Mousefur has recovered from her greencough.Purdy was out of the camp with Longtail & Leafpool,so only Mousefur was left."Mousefur?" she asked.75

Their was no answer.Brightheart knew something dreadful had happened.76

She padded in.The small dusky brown body lay still.Mousefur had a long scratch down her neck,she was killed.77

"Oh no!" she gasped.She nudged the body.Mousefurs sightless green gaze was looking straight at Brightheart,the ginger & white she cat thought she could see a picture of a daisy in her eyes.78

She shook her head.79

Brightheart burst out of the den.80

"Mousefur has been murdured!" she wailed.All the admiration for the cranky elder built up into her,she wanted to kill who ever killed the beloved she cat.81

Brambleclaw & Brackenfur hurried to the den & brung the body out.82

Cats began pouring out of their dens.83

"Who killed her?" wailed Sorreltail.84

"Why did she die?" yowled Longtail.85

"Did the same cat that killed Ashfur kill Mousefur?" cried Whitewing.86

Cats began murmuring agreements.Then,Jayfeather came out of the crowd & sat beside the body.87

Cats froze,knowing Jayfeather would talk soon.88

"She was killed by a claw.I-I can feel what happened.." he growled.89

Brightheart lashed her tail & unsheathed her claws.90

Chapter 5 Apprentices92

Five days later after Mousefurs death,Brightheart began to get excited.Rosekit & Toadkit were becoming apprentices!93

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join here!" called Firestar.He took a quick glance at Brightheart.She looked away.94

She saw Daisy covering her kits with fierce licks.Brightheart liked the two kits,but she didn't like Daisy.95

She sat down with her tail around her paws.96

"Toadpaw,from now on your mentor will be Graystripe!" Firestar looked at Graystripe."I know you'll pass on your courage & fondness onto this young tom!" The two touched noses.97

"Rosepaw,your mentor will be Sorreltail!" He looked at Sorreltail."I hope you pass on your intelligence & strength to this apprentice!"98

"Toadpaw!Rosepaw!Toadpaw!Rosepaw!" called the Clan.99

Brightheart bristled.When would she be a mentor?100

She stood up."I will get an apprentice!" she hissed.101

She turned around noticing Icepaw staring at her with fear in her eyes.102

"Err..I gotta' go!" she stammered & then scurried away.103

Brightheart lifted her chin as Cloudtail padded up to her with Daisy at his side.104

"Hello." She meowed coldy.105

"Hello." Said Cloudtail sternly.106

Daisy narrowed her eyes.107

"What do you want?" asked Brightheart.108

Cloudtail looked at Daisy."I would like you to know that Daisy is going to become a full warrior.She will take on a name."109

Daisy lifted her chin."Will she bat at other cats softly in battles?And I bet when she hunts she will cry when she kills prey!" She hissed.110

Daisy took a brave step forward & shoved her face into Brighthearts.111

"Never say that cripple!" she snarled.112

Brightheart pushed the loner away.113

"Loners don't tell warriors what to do!" she remarked.114

Cloudtail & Daisy stomped away to Firestars den.115

Brightheart felt better of what she did.116

Chapter 6 The First Kill117

Brightheart watched as Daisyfur,the new warrior stalked a mouse.She was ordered to go hunting with her.Brightheart was mad about it.But she knew what she had to do..118


"Daisyfur,lets go down to the lake." She began calmly.119

The cream she cat looked up with her mouse."Why?"120

"For a drink of course!" she answered.121

They went to the lake.When Daisyfur took a drink,Brightheart pushed her in.122

She was under for a few seconds,but then came up."Why did you do that?" she hissed.123

Brightheart grinned.124

"You'll understand soon.." she hissed.Then she dunked Daisyfur under,& drowned her.125

She had killed the loner!126

Chapter 7 Lies127

Brightheart dragged Daisys body back to camp.She would hae to face the Clan with lies.128

Spiderleg was on gaurd,when he saw her he bristled."Great StarClan!What happened to my mate?" he asked.129

Brightheart stared at the younger warrior.130

"I'll tell you with the rest of the Clan.." she answered.131

Spiderleg helped take her to the clearing.132

The Clan stared in shock."What happened?" demanded Cloudtail racing up to Brighthearts side.She bristled when she touched his pelt.133

"Yes?What did happen?" asked Firestar.Brightheart saw pain in her leaders eyes.134

"We-we-we were hunting.." she began,trying to sound sad."And she said she wanted a drink,so..I told her we'll go.."135

She looked at her leaders eyes.136

"She slipped & I-I tryed to save her,but....."137

She looked at the body.138

Cloudtail pushed his nose into his dead mates fur."I love you.." he whispered.139

Berrynose hurried up to his dead mother,Mousewhisker & Hazeltail followed.140

Rosepaw & Toadpaw were curled up with their mother.
Brightheart looked at her paws.She gave the Clan sorrow..141

"Daisyfur was a good cat to the Clan!" began Firestar."She-" He broke off when Cloudtail stood up full of rage.142

Brightheart froze.143

"I don't believe Brightheart!" he yowled."Brightheart drowned her..she drowned her.."144

Brightheart bristled."Why would I do that?I am loyal,unlike some cats.."145

Cloudtail shook his head."You killed her!"146

Foxpaw & Spiderleg stepped upto Cloudtail in agreement.147

"Very well,if you say I killed her,then Firestar can exile me.." she decided.148

Firestar stared at his nephew,then his warrior."I-I won't exile you.You would never kill another cat!"149

Chapter 8 Gathering151

"Brambleclaw!Leafpool!Graystripe!Millie!Toadpaw!Spiderleg!Brackenfur!Brightheart & Lionblaze will go to the gathering!" called Firestar.152

The cats began to join in a group.153

Brightheart followed her leader to the gathering.She needed time with other Clans.154


"Let the gathering begin!" yowled Mistystar.155

Mistystar smiled."We have goodnews & bad news!The goodnews is we have a new litter of kits!The bad news is,Leopardstar died of greencough three days ago,I am now the leader!"156

Blackstar dipped his head & Firestar purred.157

Mistystar was a good choice.158

"ShadowClan have no news other then a new litter of kits.."159

Firestar looked down."Daisy had died two dawns ago,she drowned,& we have two new apprentices,Toadpaw & Rosepaw!"160

Cats called their names.161

Onestar thrust his way forward.162

"I have an announcement!" he yowled."ThunderClan must get rid of their kittypets & loners!" Blackstar nodded.163

"If not!ShadowClan & WindClan will join together & kill them all!"164

Firestar lashed his tail."Thou shall not kill others!" snarled the flame colored tom.Brightheart bristled.She needed to act like she agreed,even if she didn't...165

Chapter 9 First Battle166

Brightheart unsheathed her claws.She was on gaurd,her & Poppyfrost.167

She looked at the tortiseshell she cat beside her."Poppyfrost..do-do you ever think we have to many kittypets & loners in the Clans?"168

She felt awful for asking a cat many moons younger then her.169

Poppyfrost looked at her paws."Sometimes...but then..I like them in our Clan.." she answered.170

Brightheart nodded.171

The bushes rustled in front of them,& two cats came out.One light brown tabby tom & a black tom."Ahh!Seems one cat agrees with us!" purred Smokefoot.Owlwhisker nodded with a sneer.172

"ShadowClan & WindClan are attacking!" yowled Poppyfrost.173

Cats came running out of the camp one after another,the last cat was Whitewing.Brightheart bristled.174

"No Whitewing!Get back to your kits!" she hissed.Her daughter stood up straight."I want to fight for my Clan!"175

Brightheart looked alarmed."No!" Then she pushed her back into the camp,Birchfall guided her to the nursery.176

Cats from all the Clans were fighting.Brightheart noticed Lionblaze fighting with Breezepelt of WindClan.177

She hid behind a bush to listen.178

"You can't have Heathertail!" hissed Breezepelt.Lionblaze nipped the black toms nose."I don't want her!"179

Breezepelt sliced Lionblazes shoulder,but the golden tabby wasn't hurt.The two toms fought.180

Brightheart liked Lionblaze.He was a strong & loyal warrior.He needed an apprentice.181

All the sudden a cat knocked into her.She was a light brown tabby with dark blue eyes.Heathertail!182

Chapter 10 Heathertail183

"Greetings cripple!" she snarled.Brightheart scratched Heathertails tail.She saw that she was expecting kits.She would get rid of those kits.184

"I know I am a cripple,but you are a traitor to the warrior code,coward & weak!" hissed Brightheart.185

She sliced Heathertails throat.Making lots & lots of blood pour out.186

"I will kill you,over & over untill you die!" she snarled.187

Heathertail flattened her ears."Please don't hurt my kits!" wailed the tabby."I need them.."188

Brightheart grinned evily.189

"Well sorry.But some cats need to be taught a lesson!" she growled.190

Breezepelt was pinned by Lionblaze,the two toms were watching them.191

Brightheart scratched Heathertails belly over & over.192

Breezepelt widened his eyes."Nooo!" he wailed.193

He slid from under Lionblaze & began to lick his mate over & over.194

"Breezepelt..don't worry,I won't die.....but....the kits are...dead.."195

Brighthearts heart froze.She just killed kits!196

Breezepelt rounded on Brightheart unaware of Lionblazes snarls.197

"This isn't the real Brightheart!" he snarled.Then he dragged his mate away & the battles was over..198

Chapter 11 A Cruel Death200

Brightheart followed Brackenfurs patrol that included;she,Spiderleg,Sorreltail,Rosepaw,Foxpaw & Graystripe.201

They were headed to the WindClan border.202

Once they got there they spotted Onestar & his patrol of;Owlwhisker,Leaftail,Willowclaw,Swallowpaw,Thistlepaw & Breezepelt.203

"Looks like ThunderClan are sending a rade patrol!" snarled the WindClan leader.204

Spiderleg bristled."We are not!" 205

Onestar rolled his eyes."Fox dung!You're lying!" hissed Onestar.206

Brackenfur stepped forward."We aren't!Do you think we'd send a new apprentice to battle?"207

Onestar lashed is tail,then lundged at Spiderleg ripping his throat.Spiderleg was dead.208

Onestar & his patrol raced away & Foxpaw called after them "Cowards!"209

Brightheart nudged Spiderlegs body.He was really dead.210

The patrol carried him home.Rosepaw just padded behind looking at her paws.211

Her father was dead...212

Chapter 12 News213

Brightheart watched cats come from their dens to see Spiderleg.214

They mourned badly,mostly it was Spiderlegs family & apprentices;Dustpelt,Ferncloud,Birchfall,Foxpaw,Icepaw,Toadpaw,
Rosepaw & Mousewhisker.215

"How did he die?" wailed Ferncloud.216

Brackenfur looked at the pale tabby she cat."Onestar killed him.."217

Ferncloud bristled.Dustpelt licked his mates ear.He loved his kits,even if he didn't show it anymore.218

Brighthearts heart hurt.Spiderleg was a good warrior,& he had many many moons ahead of him...219

Firestar just stared at his paws."We are going to war.." he announced.220

Berrynose sprang up."Finally!" he gasped.221

Firestar looked at his Clan."Dustpelt,Thornclaw,Cloudtail,Sandstorm,Birchfall,Berrynose,
Poppyfrost,Brightheart,Lionblaze,Squirrelflight & Graystripe will go!Brambleclaw & the rest will stay!" he yowled.222

Ferncloud stepped up with a lashing tail,"I am going!To many of my kits died!I am getting revenge!" she snarled.223

Firestar dipped his head."Ferncloud,Foxpaw,Icepaw & Toadpaw can go aswell!" he announced.224

The cats began to leave.Tonight would be a good night....225

Chapter 13 The Next Battle226

Ferncloud was just in front of Brightheart.She could sense Fernclouds anger & rage.227

They reached the WindClan camp.Harespring,who was on gaurd let out a battle cry,then the WindClan cats began to leap at them.228

Onestar was the last.229

"Onestar!" hissed Ferncloud.Brightheart unsheathed her claws.Waiting to help the ThunderClan she cat.230

"You killed my son!Now you will pay!" she snarled.Ferncloud leaped at the WindClan leader & sliced his muzzled.231

Onestars eyes glittered.Knowing Ferncloud will make her Clan mourn for moons if he killed her.232

He bit her leg.But Ferncloud was smarter,she jumped up & kicked him.233

Brightheart left the two,Ferncloud would be able to beat him without help.Brightheart saw Rosepaw fighting Thistlepaw."Kittypet!" he sneered.234

Rosepaw nipped his ear.She looked sad,& Brightheart noticed she had love in her eyes.Did Rosepaw love Thistlepaw?235

Brightheart brislted.She couldn't!236

Lunging at Thistlepaw,Rosepaw let out a shriek.237

"Brightheart!I can defeat him myself!" she cried.238

The new apprentice lashed her tail.239

"Very well." She growled.240

A cat knocked into her.She looked up to see Heathertail.241

"You killed my kits!Now I'll kill you!" she wailed242

Brightheart kicked the she cat off of her.Heathertail was weak.She wouldn't be able to kill Brightheart.243

The WindClan queen slashed at Brighthearts ear.Brightheart bit Heathertails paw.244

The two she cats wrestled untill Heathertail ran off.245

Out of the corner of her eye she saw a cat pinning another cat to the ground.It was Onestar & Ferncloud.And Ferncloud was winning!246

"Ferncloud,you wouldn't dare!" he snarled.247

Ferncloud sank her claws into the leaders chest,causing him to yowl.248

He lay still.He was losing a life.249

"ThunderClan have won!Let's go home!" called Firestar leading the way home.250

Chapter 14 Three Moons Later251

"Let all those old enough to catch their own prey join here beneath High Ledge for a Clan meeting!" yelled Firestar.252

He continued talking.253

"Bumblepaw!You're mentor will be Berrynose!" He looked at Berrynose."Pass on your enthusiasum & loyalty to him!"254

"Briarpaw!Your mentor will be Ferncloud!Pass on your strength & kindness to her!"255

"Blossompaw!Your mentor will be Birchfall!Pass on your strength & loyalty to her!"256

The Clan called their names.257

Brightheart felt angry.She decided to kill Berrynose in order to get Bumblepaw as her apprentice.258

The next few days went by,Brightheart had a plan.259

She was in the warriors' den.260

She saw Berrynose asleep,alone..261

She snuck up to him & batted the back of his neck,no noise came,he was dead.262

She crawled out of the den.263

"Firestar!ThunderClan!Berrynose is dead!"264

Brambleclaw was on gaurd padded to the warriors' den.He drug the body out.265

"How did he die?" cryed Hazeltail.266

Mousewhisker looked at his paws sadly,& his mate Cinderheart,licked his ear soothingly.267

Every cat looked at Brightheart waiting for an answer.268

"I woke up to a cough.And found Berrynose dying,but I didn't have time to tell Jayfeather.Berrynose was talking to himself in his nest..not knowing I was there...he-he-" She began to fake cry."He said..'I want Brightheart to mentor Bumblepaw..'"269

Cats looked at each other,startled."Are you sure?" snarled a voice.270

It was Cloudtail."Yes!He said that!" she said smoothly.271

Cloudtail shook his head."Whatever.." Then he sat.272

Brightheart was beginning to hate him even more...273

Chapter 15 Diffrent Mentor274

Firestar called a meeting for Bumblepaws new mentor.275

"Berrynose said he wanted Brightheart to mentor him!But I know one cat who needs one more!"276

Firestar narrowed his eyes at her."Poppyfrost will mentor Bumblepaw!"277

Poppyfrost touched the young apprentices nose.278

"Pass on your courage & skill to this tom!" Firestar said.279

Then he stomped to his den.280

Brightheart bristled.She killed Berrynose for nothing!281

But now...now she couldn't kill Poppyfrost!Her brothers kit!282

She trembled.She would have to wait for Whitewings kits to be apprenticed.Maybe she could mentor one of her grandkits.283

She unsheathed her claws,that would be two and a half moons from now!284

"Brightheart!" growled a voice.She turned to see Dustpelt."Yes?"285

"Firestar wants you.."286

Brightheart dipped her head & stalked to her leaders den.287

"Ahh!Brightheart!" said Firestar standing up & rounding on her.288

"What do you want my leader?" she mumbled.289

The ginger tom sat down & narrowed his eyes at her.290

"Did you kill Berrynose to get Bumblepaw as an apprentice?"291

Brightheart took a step back."How-how could you say that?" she gasped,she knew it was true,but she lied.292

Firestar looked at his paws.293

"Because it is strange that he'd just die.." he murmured.294

The ginger & white warrior padded up to her leader.295

"I know I don't like him..but I wouldn't kill him..I didn't kill Daisy either.." she lied.296

Firestar looked at her with a twitching tail.297

"Why are you & Cloudtail not mates?"298

Brightheart narrowed her eye.Her heart began to burn with anger.299

"Because he cared for Daisy more..not me....he hates me.." she answered angryly.300

Firestar nodded."Sorry for asking,I-I needed to know.."301

Brightheart sighed & said good bye & left..302

Chapter 16 Visit with Whitewing
Brightheart bounded to the nursery with a squirrel she caught for Whitewing.304

"Whitewing!" she purred.305

She stopped when she saw Cloudtail was with her."Cloudtail.." she said sternly.Her former mate glared at her & then walked away.306

"Whitewing,I brought you food.." she said as she watched Dovekit pin Ivykit down.307

Her daughter smiled."Not even Cloudtail thought about bringing me food.." she growled.308

Taking a bite she watched Brighthearts gaze drift to Ivykit & Dovekit.309

"I can't wait for them to be apprentices..they'll be good ones.." she whispered to her mother.310

Brightheart looked at Whitewing.311

"Who do you want for mentors?" she asked carefully.312

Whitewing closed her eyes.313

"For Dovekit I was thinking Mousewhisker,& for Ivykit I wanted Sandstorm." She answered.314

Brightheart stiffled a fake purr."That's good.Sandstorm would help Ivykit be more brave & Mousewhisker is young & storng for Dovekit," she explained.315

Whitewing nodded agreement.316

"Well I best be going,there are things to do!" said Brightheart walking away.317


Chapter 17 Border Fight318

"Brambleclaw!Lead a border patrol to ShadowClan!" ordered Firestar from where he sat with Squirrelflight & Leafpool.319

Brambleclaw dipped his head.320

"Brightheart!Lionblaze!Birchfall & Blossompaw!" called the dark tabby.321

Brightheart ate a mouse in the clearing,then Hazeltail & Cinderheart padded up to her.339

Brightheart jumped up.She now had a better chance of getting an apprentice!"Who are the fathers?" she purred.342

Whitewing & Birchfall smiled happily.Their first litter of kits were growing up.359

Brightheart was in the warriors' den asleep.She was having a dream.375

Brightheart went to the nursery,Cinderheart had had kits.Squirrelflight wat expecting Brambleclaws kits too.392

Birghtheart looked at Cinderheart who lay with four kits.393

"What are their names?" she asked.394

Cinderheart looked at Brightheart & then the kits.395

"The dark gray & white tom is Taintedkit,the gray tabby she cat is Rainkit,the light gray tom is Sootkit & the gray & white she cat is Dreamkit." She answered.396

"Taintedkit,Rainkit,Sootkit & Dreamkit.Those are wonderful names.." she whispered.397

Cinderheart stared into Brighthearts eye.398

"I want Thornclaw to mentor Taintedkit,Foxpelt to mentor Rainkit,Brambleclaw to mentor Sootkit & you to mentor Dreamkit.." said Cinderheart.399

Toadpaw & Rosepaw were sitting down at highledge as Firestar called a meeting.417
