(Needs Title) Chapter 7-Out of Control

The newborn was waking slowly towards me, his teeth bared. I knew I was a newborn as well, but be as strong as that vampire? Impossible!1

But, it was worth a shot.2

I ran toward him, since he seemed to be walking. Idiot.3

Soon, he was battling as well. It was hard, but, all of the sudden, I lost control. 4

One word crossed that mind at that moment: Kill.5

It was as if I was simply watching myself fight. I saw myself rip off the newborn's limbs(very disgusting, but I was glad I was at least not being dismembered(in fact, I didn't really get harmed except for when the newborn bit me, which stung like heck, but I didn't give that much attention while fighting). I saw myself build a bonfire and throw the other newborn's pieces in.6

I saw this, but didn't believe it. I was way skinnier than that guy. That was not possible. was it?7

When I was finished, I slowly gained control over myself. I looked around.8

The other newborns were staring at me. One of them, a girl with brown hair, was grinning at me, her emotions somewhere around happy and relieved, giving a thumbs up.9

The other five, including Nevan, Peter, and Jadin, were staring at me. Almost as if they were scared.10

Me. The twenty year old soldier. Scary. Interesting.11

"Wow," I said softly, then looked down at my hand where the vampire had bit me.12

There was a curved bite mark, and the pain finally rushed up. I gasped.13

It felt almost like the burning-on-fire feeling from when I was in the process of becoming a vampire. Almost unbearable. I instinctively cried out in pain. That stupid vampire hurt me. I closed my eyes, but the chatter around me obviously did not stop.14

I heard Nevan mutter, his emotion surprise,"Wow. The newborn's got talent."15

Then Peter reply,"Well, he seems to had been a soldier before. See the uniform?"16

Jadin said,"Yes, his brother mentioned him being a soldier before. But, I wonder if I could destroy like that, too."17

Nevan's surprise turned to something like anger as he said,"No! Maria, Lucy and Nettie will kill me when they realize one has been killed off! We need you all!"18

I decided to try to block it out, the pain was taking up most of my thoughts like a child would when he gets a broken bone, when it faded, not totally gone, but a bit easier to manage, at the least.19

I wanted Maria, though. To calm me down. I killed someone. I had in my human life, but still.20

I wanted her to kiss me again. I wanted her to whisper it'd be alright like she did when I murdered my brother.21

I wanted the stupid pain to go away.22

Maria and Nettie were back around a week later(saying Lucy was still waiting for more humans to become vampires), along with three other newborns, who all looked at us with violent expressions.24

Maria wasn't very angry at me for killing the newborn. On the contrary. She ran up to me, embracing me.25

"Jasper!" she cried happily, "I missed you!"26

I smiled. It had been lonely without Maria. Sure, I hunted, made friends with Peter and Jadin, but it was sad without Maria. My love.27

"I missed you, too." I whispered.28

I was reminded of the moment she first admitted she loved me, or I found out with my power. It had been awkward, me being a brand new vampire. Lucy and Nettie made fun of her. She now did not feel it was awkward anymore, her emotions were joyful instead of embarrassed. I was glad.29

She let go, and said,"Well, I'd best be teaching the new three newborns to hunt. You probably should not go. Maybe when you're a bit more in control." She winked at me playfully, then walked off with the newest vampires.30

I felt a bit sad, though. Maria thought I was still out of control. I supposed that was true. After all, I was still only a week old vampire, not counting the fact I was twenty in human years.31

But, it still hurt to be called out of control.32

Peter and Jadin walked up to me.33

Jadin winked."So you and maria are together. I knew it. You daydream about her 24/7, I swear."34

I almost forgot Jadin could read minds like Lucy, except he could read only vampires, whereas Lucy was restricted to human's thoughts.35

Peter chuckled.36

"Does he really?" said peter, still smiling,"So when's the wedding?"37

I glared at them.38

"Shut up." I growled.39

"Ah, are you gonna tear us to pieces like you did to the vampire the first day here?" asked Jadin. "I'd like to see you try."40

I figured true friend were hard to come by here, so obviously I wouldn't kill them.41

"You mean like you and the little brown haired newborn." I said to Peter. "You stare at her all day."42

If vampires could blush, peter would.43

"Your turn to shut up." said Peter.44

"No, he's right." said Jadin."You think about her about as much as Jasper thinks of Maria."45

And so the conversation went on.46

Glad I was out of the spotlight, I made a few jokes with Jadin.47

I decided they were the best friends I had ever had.
