Mother's Kiss

From the time we are greeted1

when we enter the world2

to the time when we must be3

parted on this earth;4

A mother speaks with her whole heart5

in the language of a kiss.6

Kisses of healing when we fall to our knees7

Kisses of laughter when we mimic her tone8

Kisses are placed on our foreheads when we are sick9

Kisses laid upon our heads as we slumber in her arms10

Kisses of pride and joy, tearful given11

Kisses of farewells and hellos; sweetly given12

Kisses when we are heartbroken and lost13

Kisses when we are victorious of obstacles14

Kisses on our mouths when we are young and small15

Kisses on our cheeks when we are mature16

Kisses of eagerness after we have been parted17

Kisses of appeasement when we have argued18

Kisses when we surprise her with a hug19

Kisses when we have learned a lesson20

Kisses of no reason, simply for kissing sake21

Kisses of knowing, spread through our lives22

Mothers speak with their whole hearts23

in the language of a kiss.24

No matter the reason behind25
