Insanity Log: Chapter Three

Two hours later the less violent patients were escorted to the court yard. Damian walked cautiously as the crazies babbled and drooled around the place with not a care in the world. The paranoids ruled the place with there suspicious nature. They would try to kill any one act threatening, that’s why the were taken in early. He looked around and saw no one to be taken as an artist so he went to the food. "You! Are you that Sinclare boy?" an older female voice spoke behind him. "Yyyyeesss?" Damian asked with his mouth full. The girl that stood before him had short brown hair and deep brown eyes that seemed as if their sight could see into your very soul. She couldn’t have been over forty. "Is Elvis still there? They didn’t wash him off did they?" The girl asked anxiously. "No, He’s still there." Damian answered after swallowing hard. The girl looked untrustingly at Damian but then dragged him off into the corner of the room. "Don’t let them wash it away. If they do Elvis will speak to me and make me insane again." The girl whispered. "Are you Julia?" Damian asked looking around for any other artwork. "Yes." The girl nodded. "Be careful of the Irishman. I know he haunts your mind too." Julia whispered. He gasped. "How do you know?!" Damian asked, his voice rising in surprise. Julia put her hand over his mouth. "Do you want them to hear you?" Julia asked harshly. He shook his head. "The Irishman did the same thing to me as he has done to you. Made you come in here, to this bad place." Julia muttered and looked around to make sure no one was watching. "He told me he would bring you here. Try to control us both, but I made an escape in the cell. We shall escape!" Julia cheered. Damian’s face lit up. "Where! How!" Damian squealed, but he was too loud. Julia spun away towards the wall as the fat doctor came over to the corner. "I think you two need to come and play with the rest." The doctor said and dragged Julia over to the coffee table. Damian followed and sat on the couch. The blond nurse walked over to Julia and shoved a few pill down her throat. Not long afterwards, Julia sat with her head resting on the table, drool running every where. Damian sighed as another episode of cartoons came on. Julia was no use to him drugged, but he wondered, what escape was she talking about? 1

The smell of mushrooms came as some patients found a patch and began to cook the with a magnifying glass. "That’s Magiver over there." Said Yoka with a smile. "Why can’t you be that resourceful?" asked Yoka "hfyrgwgwts" said Julia now waking. "Waky- shut up Yoka" Damian interrupted. Julia sat up and stretched on the picnic blanket that she rested on. The sun shown down on her as she looked around the area. When a Frisbee whizzed by her head, she quickly got to her feet and chased it the best she could in her still disoriented state. After twenty minutes Julia was back to her old speed and quickly jumped into the air and caught the Frisbee in her teeth. "Wow, she has skills." Yoka laughed. "Lice check." The nurse shouted as the patients gathered around. "Now our chance." Whispered Julia. "For what?" Damian asked looking around among the people. "Too get the magnifying glass." Julia whispered and slipped out of line.  Damian followed cautiously. "Oi!" a voice echoed. Julia and Damian looked around. "It’s him." Whispered Julia as she slowly started walking again. Damian nodded and followed. "More fun for me." The Irish voice laughed. Julia raced up to the magnifying glass and picked it up with inhuman speed. The Irishman had it’s devilish hold on her. Julia raced over behind the blond nurse, and Damian followed. Julia held the magnifying glass in a way for the light to shine on the hem of the nurse’s dress. Soon it caught fire and the nurse screamed and patted madly at her dress. Damian gasped and ripped the glass away from Julia. "Damn it! What are you doing!?" Damian growled. She looked innocently up at him. "Do what?" she asked. "That!!" Damian said pointing at the frantic nurse. "But I…" Julia muttered. After the nurse put out her dress she marched over to Damian and Julia with the fat doctor behind her. "Which one of you did it!" she screamed at them. Julia shuddered and dropped low to the ground covering her mouth as if expecting the nurse had come to give her pills. The doctor smiled once he noticed the glass in Damian’s hand. "Nurse, I think Mr. Sinclare was the ‘very bad boy’ that caught your dress on fire." The doctor said. The doctor bent over and ripped the glass from his hands. "But!" Damian plead, but stopped himself. There was no way he was letting them drug Julia again when she had the key to freedom locked somewhere in her mind. The doctor smiled. "And what do we do with ‘very bad boys’?" the doctor asked as if speaking to a pet or child. "We put them in the ‘white room’!" the doctor and nurse said in unison.2

Damian looked around him and sighed. He sat with his strait jacket on and a white padded room surrounded him. "Damn this. Damn it all!" Damian growled and tried to stand only to fall. "This isn’t fair. We weren’t checked for lice. Damn it, where are the lice?!" screamed Yoka. "White people scare me." Said Damian. "But you are white?" Said Yoka. "I’m ashamed of the injustice of my color. I mean if I where in the hood I’d be accepted." Damian muttered and rolled over on his side. "Is your name red." Asked Yoka "No?" said Damian "Then you can’t be rid’en in da hood." Said Yoka. "What?" Damian asked getting irritated. "Ya know, ‘red rid’en in da hood.’ As in red riding hood. Damn you are stupid." Yoka remarked. Damian sighed. "Ya know what. Fuck this." Damian growled and kicked the wall. Damian closed his eyes and laid on his back. A woman’s voice called his name, but he ignored it. Her voice was beautiful and soothing. It seemed so familiar to him, but he could not recall it completely. Her voice had vibrate operatic tone to it as it sang  a song with no words but of comforting shrills of music. It comforted him enough for him to fall peacefully asleep as the pain of the day ended. "No more pain. Peace, peace." Damian whispered.3

Damian awoke to the brightness of the white room. He sat up and shook the hair from his eyes. "Good morning crazy town. It’s a lovely 72 degrees all though the day and we will have full moon tonight. You know what that means start howling." Yoka yawned. Damian smiled as he remembered the music of the woman from the night before. Was it in his head or had a woman really sang to him. He shook his head driving the thought away.  "When am I getting out of here?" Damian asked aloud. "neeeeeeeeeeeevvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrr." Said Yoka in a crazy tone again spinning in the nonexistent chair again. "Aw yes I will. When I’m Dead!" Damian yelled, and soon burst into a fit if laughter. Damian stopped when the padded door opened and the fat doctor walked in. "Ready to go back to your room?’ He asked helping Damian to his feet. "Yeah, whatever." Damian muttered. The doctor lead Damian down a long stretch of hallways and finally to the room next to the Elvis room. "We are cleaning your room so you will be staying the next few days with Julia Parkson, your little partner in crime." The doctor explained. Damian’s face brightened but he didn’t reveal it to the fat doctor. "Goody." He muttered instead.4
