Life after Puzzle, Part Six

Seto Kaiba groaned. He watched the monitor in front of him. It showed a man walking into the main office of Kaiba Corp. Kaiba swiveled around in his chair and stared out the window. He only took a moment to decide. He turned back around and pushed the button on his intercom.1

"Mokuba, we have a guest, go get him," he said.2

"Right away, Seto," Mokuba answered.3

Mokuba ran down to the main reception area and spotted Duke Devlin. He smiled and ran up to Duke.4

"Hi, Duke, my brother's waiting for you," Mokuba said.5

"Alright, let's go," Duke nodded.6

They walked out of the main office through a door marked "Private." Mokuba explained as they walked that only certain people are allowed to go this way, and that it was only a handful of people. They were the only ones Kaiba would allow to use it. Duke thought about that and smiled. He knew Kaiba was getting used to him being there. After all, he was bound and determined to sell his game to Kaiba, no matter what it took. They approached the door to Kaiba's office and Dukes heart spead up. Mokuba opened the door and walked in.7

"Here he is, Seto," he said.8

"Thank you, Mokuba, you may go," Kaiba said, his back to both of them.9

"Good luck," Mokuba whispered to Duke as he left.10

"Thanks,"11

"What do you want now?" Kaiba asked, still facing away from Duke.12

"You know what I want," Duke replied. He walked up to Kaiba's desk.13

"I already told you, I'm not giving you that contract," Kaiba said, he swiveled around in his chair and stared at Duke.14

"Come on, Kaiba!" Duke exclaimed, he slammed his hands down on the desk, "This game is huge! It'll make KC millions, you've got to let me have it!"15

Kaiba stood up and walked around the desk.16

"Get your hands off of my desk, that costs more than what your Dungeon Dice monsters brings in per year," he said quietly. He walked over to Duke and stopped mere inches from him. Duke stood up and stared at Kaiba. Hatred mixed with determination in his eyes. There was something else, but Kaiba couldn't put his finger on it.17

"What are you going to do if I don't?" Duke asked.18

"I'l have you thrown out of the building, and you will never see the inside of this office again," Kaiba replied.19

"Duke stared at Kaiba, his anger grew, until he looked up at Kaiba's hair. A peice was sticking straight up. It was all he could do not to laugh right then and there. He reached up and smoothed it back into place. Kaiba grabbed Dukes hand and stared at him. He ignored the spark of electricity he felt whe he grabbed his hand. He continued to stare into Dukes eyes for a moment, then he pushed his hand away in disqust. He walked back around to his chair.20

"Get out," 21

Duke turned around and walked to the door. He paused when he reached it.22

"We'll talk about this again," he said.23

"Of course, you're desperate," Kaiba smirked.24

Duke tightened his grip on the door handle. He sighed and opened the door and left. Kaiba turned around in his chair and faced the window. He reached up and touched the part of his hair that Duke had touched. He felt heat rising in his cheeks, and realized he was blushing. He stood up and stared out the window. Duke walked out of the building holding his hand. He had felt the electricity jump between him and Kaiba and he was confused about it. He looked up at the window to Kaiba's office. They couldn't see each other, but they both knew the other was looking. Duke sighed and started to walk home.25
