Turning Point

It wasn’t the first time I had been dared to go into the graveyard. It was however the first time I had been dared to go at night. As I looked around me through the fog I heard it and saw it. There was this person singing who wanted me to get up and talk to her. I held my breath but bravely and strongly found the courage well…the guts to get up and face what was coming. There in my path was a human figure sitting on a gravestone staring at me with beautiful blue eyes. The being was so spectacular I didn’t dare look away the beauty trapped me as she glided over to me and sat down. Not once did she take her eyes off of me nor did I. She had long glossy blond hair, lushes lips, and her eyes just made me speechless. Her dress clung to her but was beautiful and long swaying in the wind. Her voice stunned me by far most though. Her beautiful voice made me wonder how you could stand in such a person’s presence. She was so wonderful and I was there in my dirty jeans and an old sweatshirt that was torn in several places. Still she seemed kind and I knew that I wanted to run from this place but I didn’t because I felt a reason 2 stay.1

“My name is Samantha, I wish for you to stay here just for a little bit I need to explain something to you. I am indeed a ghost but a nice ghost I promise I shall not harm you. I know your father Jamious, he’s a very good man I met him in the after life. Unfortunately I was only there a short time and then I was put back to earth. Well my graveyard actually, I cannot leave this place you see because I was berried here so I must stay here. It’s very confusing so I won’t go into detail. You look pale; are you alright?”2

“I’m fine just never met a ghost before that’s all. Wait if you know my father then why are you down here? And how are you good?”3

“There are good ghosts you know we all aren’t from those crazy horror movies you all watch. I’m down here because I was afraid to die unlike your father. So they sent me back here with other ghosts like me and this is technically where I live. I’ve bonded so much with your father though that one day I was there. He inspired me and told me about his baby girl.”4

“Wait, so why haven’t you ever talked to me before then?”5

“I told you I cannot leave this graveyard. This is your first time being here so that’s why I’m talking to you. I don’t talk to humans regularly I never want to scare them. However once I figured out who you were I just had to meet you.”6

“Oh.”7

“Now that I’ve met you which was a very nice pleasure I must say goodbye.” She then vanished I didn’t know what to do I didn’t want her to leave because the truth was she felt like a friend. Even though she wasn’t real I connected to her I liked her I couldn’t bare let her go now.8

“WAIT! DON’T GO!” Suddenly without another word she was there beside my shoulder. I jumped back frightened. 9

“I’m so sorry; I didn’t mean to frighten you.”10

“I’m fine, just lost my breath that’s all. Never mind that though, I just don’t want you to leave. You’re so…different.” She starts laughing at this remark. Her laugh isn’t evil and wicked like I expected. It’s soft, nice, and sweet.11

“I’m sorry but I am different.”12

“I know, it was a stupid thing to say but you truly do feel….I don’t know, like a long lost friend I guess.”13

“Why thank you, and don’t worry I’m here all the time, remember? Just come to this graveyard and I’ll show up.”14

“Oh, I didn’t know that it was so simple.”15

“It isn’t, just promise not to tell anyone about me. There’s this thing, some promise ghosts must make. Were aloud to communicate with humans but if we promise to be friends it’s different. After we make the promise to become friends that human told must not tell anyone else about the ghost. You see if they do tell were told horrible things will happen.”16

“Horrible things…like what?”17

“I’m not sure exactly we were never told. Please promise though please! I’ve been fair to you so do the same for me.” I didn’t respond I knew I was going to tell someone I was scared out of my wits and I had an enormous mouth. However I didn’t want these horrible things to happen to me.18

“Of course, I promise.”19

“Good now you’re going to need to get home it’s very late. The gates are locked by now hmmmm….OH!” She snapped her fingers then grabbed me by the hand. I was surprised she could touch me. This wasn’t at all like the ghost movies I’d seen before. We met the gate and she pulled a large tile up from the ground. There on the muddy pavement was a shimmering gold key. She lifted the key and put it into the key hole to the silver rusted gates. The gates flew open.20

“Goodnight Isabella.” She vanished, and I did the same as I ran out of that graveyard down seven blocks. My hair was whipping in the cold air and I couldn’t breathe well. None of that mattered I could see my front door now and I ran in and couldn’t bear but to start screaming.21

“MOM! MOM! THERE’S A GHOST AT THE GRAVEYARD!”22

“Bella darling, don’t be crazy why don’t you just go to sleep.” I wanted to say more but she stopped me with her hand. She then gently pushed me to my room into the beds and hit the lights off. She didn’t even say goodnight but just left. I had horrible dreams that night of ghosts and torture and the scary part was that it was my fault. I couldn’t stand the scenes any longer they were gory and horrifying so I jumped awake frantic from bone to bone. There in my room was a ghost just as I had expected by the cold chills and dead smells in my room. This ghost was nothing like Samantha she was old and wrinkly. Her eyes were dried blue her hair was long, gray, and to long to look at. This ghost was disgusting covered in maggots and so old with bones popping up in places. The thing was she looked like she was growing uglier and uglier every minute.23

“You told and now I came for revenge.” The ghost grabbed in me in a flash of a second and then even quicker we appeared at the graveyard. It was the exact same time as yesterday the weather was the same but there was a very big difference. The graves were all split open and ghosts were flying everywhere. None of them not a one was young and pretty but old and frightening.24

“Samantha? Is that you? What’s happening?” The cringed lady from my room stepped forward.25

“You broke your promise to me. You are no friend of mine. Do you see what has happened? The horrible things are taking place. I’ve told you that all ghosts aren’t bad and that I was good but with breaking that promise I am now bad. That’s how ghosts become bad they are ruined not only of a promise but of their peace. So I have called all the evil spirits with me to destroy you. You ruined me now I’m going to take your life and hope that you end up the same!” She laughed this time but he voice was cracked and old and her laugh was evil and possessed. I knew the end had come but how was a mystery still to me. How could simply telling someone about a ghost do all this? I had to stop it all, my dream was unfolding before my eyes.26

“Stop! Please, I meant no harm forgive me Samantha! Forgive me PLEASE!”27

“It’s a little bit too late for that! You had your chance but you blew it by breaking your promise. Now our world has hit its turning point and yours will as well!” She hit me in a half a second with her teeth and I was dead. I don’t know who or if anyone did discover my body. When I arrived to my death fate all I know is that I didn’t go up or down I just remained on earth as a ghost. I wasn’t in my body though; I was in the ghost’s body who I betrayed. I was in Samantha’s old ruined body in her graveyard forever. That is why I wrote this book of my turning point and that is why I left it here in the human world. So that all of you are aware that turning points come and that no one should ever break a promise no matter what. Because you might just break a promise with someone who’s actually a ghost and then you’ll end up like me. 28
