Embrace the Darkness: Part 3

'So I assume you met Landon?' I could hear Jack's kind voice as he walked into the cave.1

'Yes. Who was he? Who am I? Why have you lied to me for so long?' I said staring into his comforting violet eyes. I had many more questions to ask him.2

'Well, that is your fiance, you are soon to be the queen of Hell, and I have lied to protect you.' He said honestly.3

'Is this all real? I feel like I'm dreaming.' I felt like crying, if this was all true my life had been a lie.4

'As scary as it may seem to you right now it is all real...you are next in line to the thrown of the Land of Shadows, as we lovingly call it.' I couldn't believe that I actually sensed a hint of amusement in his voice.5

'Do not laugh at me.' I said coolly.6

'I'm sorry; I didn't mean anything by it. I know this is probably really hard for you to grasp right now.' He hugged me. Â I really needed that.7

'You know this is just the kind of thing that I would wish for. To be taken away to another world...where I don't even know anyone, but everyone reveres me as a queen.' My sarcasm would kill one day, I swear.8

'Would you like to meet your parents?' He asked me.9

'Wow, now I get to see Lucifer in the flesh.' You almost laughed at the thought.10

'No, actually that is a myth. There is no Lucifer. Things are run here probably a lot different than you think actually.' He grinned at me, 'You should try to forget everything you were taught on Earth...as none of it is really what happens here. The stories of Lucifer were just that, stories. Meant to keep humans entertained, they didn't know what was really here, how could they. The actual events here will make those stories seem very dull.'11

'Stupid mortals...' I said laughing at what I was saying.12

'There now you've got the picture. Now come on your parents want to see you.' He said taking something out of his pocket. I didn't get a very good look at it, but it seemed to be a small glowing, pink orb. Before I could ask what it was, he threw it on the ground, it shattered, and smoke rose from where it landed. Then the smoke grew into a solid shape, big enough for someone to stand in. Without thinking Jack stepped through the portal. I guess he expects me to follow him. I closed my eyes and stepped into the bluish smoke where Jack once stood. I made the mistake of opening my eyes...the smoke stung them and tears leaked down my face as I shut them tight again. Then I felt solid ground under my feet. I don't know how long I had been standing there because when I opened my eyes there were three people trying to contain their laughter just staring at me. Then I realized that it must have looked funny seeing a person standing there shutting their eyes tightly. 13

'Caylee, I can't believe that I'm seeing you again.' A short woman in a long purple dress runs over to you and tightly embraces you. I was a little taken aback; I don't know who this person is that is hugging the breath out of me. She holds me out in her arms and I immediately see who she must be. She has the same exact eyes as I do; the honey-hazel eyes that I had seen in the mirror for years.14

'Mom?' I silently whispered to her.15

'Bless the blood, you do remember me.' She again takes me in her arms.16

'No, I don't remember...it's just...you have the same eyes as me.' She looked a little saddened by my reaction as if she expected just to start chatting about old things that only we would know. I was a little sad too about it; I mean here is a life that I once lived and I know nothing of it, it's rather depressing.17

'I'm so glad to see you back at home.' A muscular man in a white shirt and black pants pulls you into a hug. I suppose this is my father.18

'Father?' His crystal blue eyes light up in acknowledgement.19

'I've missed you, Caylee.' He says.20

'This is all just really weird. I mean I've lived a life on Earth and now I come here and find out that was all a lie.' I say looking into their staring eyes, 'I just don't want to be lied to anymore.' I am getting tired of everyone staring at me.21

'Once we reinsert your memories you will know everything. What this life was like. Where you left off. You will still have your memories of your life on Earth.' You mom stepped closer to you holding your arm, 'We'll make it right again. You just wait. I'm so happy to see you.'22
