“Why me?” he asked.1
She looked at him from where she’d woken on the bed to find him by the thinly curtained window, his features soft in the moonlight.2
“Because you are the most remarkable person I’ve ever known.” She said softly, without hesitation.3
He hung his head before turning back toward the window.4
“But I’m not.” He whispered.5
She allowed him the moment before sliding off the bed bringing the sheet with her to wrap around her naked body. She walked quietly toward him letting his eyes trail up to meet hers as she bridged the gap between them. With one hand she clutched the sheet; the other cupped his face as she looked into his eyes.6
“Why you?” she asked smiling. “Because you’re you, because there could be no other for me, because you’re the one.” She brought her hand to his chest. “Because of this beautiful body that houses an even more beautiful soul that is so much like my own. Because you understand the core of me and I understand the core of you." 7
"Because your lips offer sweet truths and your eyes see the colors of the world. Because you sit in indigo moonlight at peace yet often feel the sorrow of the world. Because in an instant you can help me calm my spirit. Because I think of you and get a silly grin. Because I’m not afraid to be vulnerable with you. Because your soul sought out mine. Because your eyes were so very familiar. Because your heart beats in rhythm with mine.”8
She leaned forward to brush his lips with hers. “That’s why.” She said against them before releasing the sheet and pulling them both from the shadows.9

This was so sweet and, well, meaningful. It describes love and perfect bliss. Well done.
