It started that fateful night
Yes
No
F**k it
F**k you1
He slammed her into the back wall
I'm sorry
The tears welled up
in her bright blue eyes
She left.
~Oh god, how I'm sorry.~2
She loved him.
She came back.
And they made up,
right there on the kitchen bench.3
Fight
Fight
Screams in the night
Bruises became routine
until eventually
Tears were useless
and they stopped falling
altogether.4
Hide and seek
He's always 'it'
Closet won't hold up
against his shoulder
But her face won't hold up
against his fist
Closet it is.5
~You think you can hide from me
in my own house?~
It is silent
except for his voice
Scratching
angry
Roaring
Probing at her every nerve.6
~Come on out, baby
i just wanna talk~7
|He says that every time.|8
Quiet as a mouse
In the closet
She shakes
Her breath trembles
She closes her eyes
And prays.9
Silence.10
It is probably a trap,
but she cannot hide there forever.11
The door creaks open
She steps out.
He slams the door shut.
He was waiting.12
All she can do now is face him.13
The harsh words
somehow seem to hurt more
than the blows
to her tender flesh.
She pushes him back,
hits him back,
He instantaneously shoves her aside.
Her head hits the desk
She falls to the ground.
~She's dead.
Oh god, I've killed her.~
He takes his keys
and flees.14
She hears his car
take to the road
Her eyes open
the room is a mess
but she is alone.15
She drags herself to the bed
Where from under the mattress
she pulls out a serynge and a poison
Inject.16
No more bruises,
Goodbye, world.17
~I can't have killed her.
No,
no.
She's just knocked out.~
Police sirens sound in the distance.
~They've already found her.
They knew it was me.~
He drives south
and doesn't stop
until he is out of state.18
There he finds abandoned shelter
and hides out for a few days.19
A few days is enough
to drive a man insane
One week is enough
to set a man straight.20
He drives back up,
Night has fallen.
Home.
Shovel to the earth
dig deeper,
deeper.
~We will be together my love,
I will hold you in my arms again.
I will.
I swear.~21
There is only one mortuary.
Flashlight in hand
he climbs out of his car.
The axe breaks the seals
between him
and his dead wife.22
Alarms sound,
but they are barely audible
compared to the sound of his own voice
and hers
screaming in his head.23
He finds his bride's corpse
and carries it away.
The tyres screech home.24
This hole is big enough for two.
He set her cold stiff body in the ground
and goes inside.25
There is a syringe he hid somewhere
and the wedding ring she took off
and gave back to him.26
He climbs in the open grave with her
and slips the gold ring back on her finger
now cold and lifeless.
He lays on his side
his nose touching hers.
He strokes her face
her skin is still as soft as it was
the day they first touched.
He puts her arm around his waist
and his arms around her.
holding her tight
While behind her back
he pierces his arm
with the needle
~You're so close
yet so far away
And if I can't being you back
I will come to you~
Inject.
With the last of his energy,
the last of his life,
he squeezes her tight
and his hand drops,
limp.27
~I do love you~
Author notes
This is kind of...a mix between poem and story... The verse has no rhythm, but i hope you enjoy it anyway!
