ICZ RPG Character

Name: Jack Artisan1

Age: 192

Gender: Male3

Appearance: Jack is about six ft and reasonably well built, but this all depends on where and when you meet him, as more often than not he wears large boots which increase his height by a few inches and his intense physicality and psyche makes him seem larger and taller than he really is especially to those not used to him or easily scared. His upper body is covered in tattoos most designed by himself, with a few he let friends design, mostly along Maori and Celtic tribal design patterns, but with the occasional religious or political symbol mixed in, more often than not distorted to fit in with the patterns around it, for example he has an anarchy symbol on his left shoulder blade, but it is twisted and the lettering itself is based on Celtic scripts. His lair is long and black, which he wears in a long pony tail which reaches nearly all the way down his back. He normally wears coloured contact lenses either in pure black or with cat’s eyes which adds to his threatening appearance. Clothes wise, he normally wears baggy black combats over large boots, although has sometimes been known to wears smart pinstriped black trousers and smart shoes, most of the time he wears shirts with the sleeves rolled up to reveal the tattoos on his upper body, most of these shirts are black although occasionally he wears dark red or blue. When protesting he wears his Boots, combats, and a hoodie over his shirt as well as gloves to cover his hands, an industrial gas mask and goggles to protect himself from tear gas and smoke bombs aswell as to mask his appearance. Overall he looks large and intimidating through his size, physique and style of appearance.4

Skills/Knowledge: Throughout his years as an anarchist activist he has learnt many of the skills useful in fighting other people, he learned martial arts at a young age; training in karate under a close family friend who tragically died in a car crash before Jack reached his Dan grade. This however did not stop Jack’s training and he developed his own fighting style through confrontations throughout his childhood, his method involves moving faster than the opponent and attacking through them not letting up till their either lying bleeding on the ground or have given up, through his karate training he also picked up armed combat skills using staffs, katana’s and a few other Japanese weapons. As he grew older and became involved in the anarchist movements he got involved in several terrorist activities and thus became relatively skilled in creating explosives and traps, although he always preferred to fight his opponents head on than rely on bombs, Molotov Cocktails and other devices. 5

This said he has been known to use a crossbow he was given by a close friend on occasion; he can pull it back easily enough and has a reasonable aim. 6

As well as his more dangerous talents Jack is a proficient artist, in the medium of ink on paper and spray paint, he designed nearly all of his tattoos and uses his art skills to gain support for his anarchist activities. 7

Possessions: His flat is cluttered with art materials, anarchist and drug paraphernalia and a variety of weapons; he also has a large stash of steel tipped crossbow bolts and explosives. When he goes protesting he often takes the below items.8

Clothes (Black Combats, Large steel toe capped boots, black shirt, Hoodie, Leather Gloves) Gas Mask (Only covers his mouth and nose), Goggles, Laptop Bag (Spray Cans (Red and Black), Zippo Lighter, his stash (in a secret compartment), a bottle of homebrewed spirit, snacks (Fairtrade Chocolate bar, Packet of Crisps, bottle of water), Mobile Phone, Explosive Materials) Bo Staff (4ft long) Cross Bow (in a holster on his back) with a belt quiver of 40 concussion bolts (These have soft flat heads which are designed along the lines of pellets used by riot police, at least five have explosive or flammable tips).9

Personality: Jack is disappointed with the world in which he lives, nothing works and society betrayed him, he is bitter and hates the way in which the government and the corporations run his world. The only way he knows how to express this is through violent protest and art, the first he learnt through experience as his first peaceful protest was broken up aggressively by police, he and a few other fought back and were promptly beaten down by the riot police, ever since he has hated authority with a passion and seeks to bring them down in the same way he believes they oppress him and others, through violence and aggression. His art however is more subtle, he uses his spray cans to paint murals that display issues ignored by the general populace, depicting the poor and downtrodden, those who society sees as wrong and are as such mistreated. Some of his art has been critically acclaimed but he works in secret never admitting to the fact that it was him that created them. Despite his disappointment in everyone else he seems to view himself as the solution to all of the problems, either through violence and uprising in his more dangerous moods or through more subtle artistic methods in his calmer moods. Although he has been known to drink and use marijuana he tries not to use them too often as he believes that they dull his senses and mind stopping him from fulfilling his full potential.10

Background: Jack was born and raised in England where he lived a happy and peaceful life, until the age of five when his parents were arrested for harbouring illegal immigrants, these people had been asylum seekers who were fleeing an oppressive regime where they would have been tortured and executed for the crime of being homosexual. From this day Jack saw the wrongs of society, however didn’t know how to express this, he was sent to live with his grandparents who were quiet and unassuming and seemed to have no view on why his parents had been imprisoned. At the age of seven he started his karate training until on the night before his Dan Grading (at the age of fifteen) his tutor was killed in a car accident, by this time his parents had been released from prison and they moved to Tarrant buying a house in the poorer suburbs in order to help those less fortunate souls who had no choice in living in the suburbs, his family ran a small help centre, giving shelter to the homeless, food to the hungry and advice to the needy. It was in Tarrant that Jack became involved in the more aggressive side of anti government protesting and developed his street art, until at the age of 18 he moved into an empty flat where he organised several meetings of prominent anarchists to fight the growing might of the Cult of Samkiel, he was supposedly responsible for the deaths of several cult members who were attacking a helpless woman. However the crossbow bolts that caused the death have never officially been traced to Jack. What little money he earns now selling his art works over the internet he puts into keeping him fed and then into his various anti authority activites, from buying weapons to destroy the system from without to buying art materials to break the system from within other people’s minds.11

Author notes

An anarchist artist who'll hopefully enjoy the crumbling of society and maybe become a little less radical and more artistic towards the end... or maybe the other way round.

Your character sounds very well suited to the dystopian streets of Tarant set to be transformed into a warren of carnage and fear (more so than usual).

I'm wondering how Jack came to live in Tarant. More specifically, why they moved to such an economically depressed and violent city.

I'm not actually sure out characters would get along so well. Jack seems more predisposed to violence and radical activity than Ryan. The two characters would definitely be able to relate on a creative level. What similarities in there is in lifestyle and politics is likely to be overshadowed by certain character traits. Jack would likely see Ryan as a spineless fence sitter devoid of a solid political devotion. It is likely, however, that these differences would be put aside, given the circumstances.

    • I've explained why his family moved to Tarrant, being all charitable and nice... makes you wonder whether their still around, if so it would be interesting to see if they were still alive in the RPG

Thanks for checking out my PC, Bradshaw. As for Jack, he looks like a handful. A big, violent brute with some skills in hand-to-hand, explosives, and crossbows will be pretty formidable.

And I'm sure Albert will feel just as much animosity towards him for being something like a "boorish radical with a messiah complex." =P
