I hear that expression sometimes and still don't get why they say that, unless they are coming alone, 'only them', but never 'just them'

Reminds me of my most precious mother
This brought back fond memories of when I used to call my mother. I'd say, "Hi mom. It's me." Thanks for the memory for she always had a smile in her voice when she said "Hi" back.
