Ryan is a pasty white male standing at 6 feet. His thin and wiry build hides above average strength. He has surgically implanted digital contacts that allow for whimsical alteration of pupil/white colour. His head is frequently chemically treated to maintain baldness, his face is pox scared from adolescent disease. He has many body and facial piercing, one piece of jewellery on his left ear pulses with a red LED. The base of Ryan’s neck is tattooed with an old fashioned barcode. 5

Ryan is a hacker of intermediate knowledge, occasionally he takes on jobs to steal information, disable or deface low security systems and web services (usually competing small businesses).7

Ryan has an intimate knowledge of the abandoned industrial estates and poor sections of old Tarant. 8

Other than his musical equipment and collection of ancient firearms (non of which work), the cloths on his back (and on his floor), Ryan owns very little other than a homemade still (which produces the larger portion of his poverty level income).10

Personality: 11

Ryan is mostly a quiet individual who keeps to himself, he has anxiety issues (which are not apparent when he performs his music live). Much of Ryan’s anxiety issues can be linked to his parents (aspirational ladder climbers) and ill health during adolescence, which left him, in his own mind at least, repulsive. 12

He drinks a lot of his own produce but only the best of it. When composing he drinks excessively (but not to the point of sloppiness), takes caffeine pills, and chain smokes.13

Staying away from aggression where possible, Ryan is no stranger to fighting. As with most unprotected youth in the economically depressed old Tarant, Ryan learnt quickly to hold his own in a fight. 14

Background:15

Ryan was born to poor parents who were desperate to escape the poverty of the worlds greatest recession (which seems to have hit Tarant particularly hard). Working obsessively, Ryan’s parents never managed to reach their dream of entering management of the citywide chain of Googleworths Supermarkets. 16

Ryan showed artistic ability at an early age but was frequently and vehemently discouraged from his “time wasting” pursuits. The little time his parents spent with him, Ryan described as Googleworths propaganda sessions. Forced to take classes in supermarket operations and customer relations from his youngest years, it is a wonder any of his creative ability and free thought persisted. 17

When Martin, Ryan’s farther was demoted to trolley collector after being caught stealing “fresh” produce, Ryan’s parents, their dreams shattered, committed suicide. His family home repossessed by the bank, Ryan aged 16 was thrown out but escaped the inadequate social service network. He moved from one drug fucked western suburban hovel to another.18

Ryan’s life may have been very different if it hadn’t been for The Might of Samkiel moving into the western suburbs. Thanks to the religious nuts who murdered his detestable housemates, Ryan (then aged 19) gained his first computer and was soon rediscovering his artistic side. 19

Working in the high-risk counter theft division for Superf00dz (a minor competitor of Googleworths), just to spite his dead parents, Ryan eventually scraped together enough cash to buy a still. As The Might of Samkiel stepped up their campaign of purposeless violence and murder, Ryan escaped the western suburbs. He moved in (and still lives) with a collective of musicians and other artists lving in an old converted warehouse in the industrial estates. It wasn’t long before he left his job at Superf00dz to focus on his music, his income coming entirely from selling moonshine to the thrifty and the desperate.20

In the following years Ryan learnt lots of neat things about hacking and stealing electricity from the power grid. He learnt a lot about music and began doing live performances (usually unpaid). Despite being a loner he played with many bands till he (aged 23) formed his own project, an avant-garde three member band, Cyborg Underground. Using outdated software, hardware and a combination of self recorded samples and live instruments, the three member band produce everything ranging from ambient soundscapes to stomping club tracks.
