A Phone Call

"Hello?"1

"Hey baby, its me."2

"Tyler! what are you doing?"3

"Just driving. what are you doing dear?"4

"Oh, just sittin here talkin to this boy.."5

"Really? Do I know him?"6

"Well, i think you might..."7

"Well why don't you tell me bout him?"8

"Ok..well..hes got the most amazing ability to make me smile..he has the prettiest green eyes, and he is pretty tall...and his hair is brown with a bit of a sun bleached look to it..and he is driving right now"9

"Hmm..i dont think i know him..."10

"Haha Tyler shut up! Why are you driving? I thought you were outta town tonight?"11

"Well..I was...but I missed you babe. So..i'm driving back to kiss you goodnight"12

"Tyler!! Your lying!"13

"Em, i wouldn't lie to you. ever"14

"Oh Tyler..its to late! its after 11 my parents are in bed.."15

"Well then they wont know that i stopped by now will they?"16

"But Tyler...well...ok. where are you?"17

"well..im not to far away..ill be there soon promise."18

"Tyler I look like shit right now! its late and i dont have any makeup on! and Im wearin my pajamas and--"19

"And you will look perfect. Emily you look good everytime i see you..dont you know that by now! You dont have to wear make-up or dress up for me..i think i like you better without all that special stuff anyways babe."20

"Oh Tyler..your too sweet..but seriously..where are you? so i know how much time i have?"21

"Babe i already told you, ill be there soon.."22

Emily gets up off the bed and walks over to her window.23

"Tyler! tell me now! or else!" she says as she pulls the curtains aside. And there he is. Tyler is standing in her front yard with a phone up to his ear.24

"I love you" he says over the phone, then she see's him flip it shut as he starts to walk towards her window. Emily pulls the curtains aside and opens her window up.25

"Tyler! I can't believe your really here!" Emily says, smiling, with her nose mashed against the screen, her hands framing her face.26

"You weren't supposed to be in town tonight! How far did you have to drive to come back?"27

"Far enough." Tyler says as he puts his hands against the screen, directly opposite hers. "I was just gonna call you, But hearing your voice is just barely enough. And why settle for barely enough, when all I gotta do is hop in the car and drive here?"28

"But Tyler, look at me I'm a mess!"29

"Emily, when i look at you, theres nothing left to say. I love the way you look tonight, I really do. Now, do i have to stand outside on your lawn all night or are you gonna let me in?"30

Emily giggles, then suddenly her face is gone. A moment later Tyler hears his name being whispered.31

"Tyler, come on..hurry its cold and I dont have any socks on!"32

Tyler slowly walks over to the front door then grabs Emily and hugs her.33

"Its ok love, im here to keep you warm" he says as he smiles down at her.34

"Well aren't you nice? Haha Tyler what are you doing here, really?"35

"Babe i already told you. I missed you. and a phone call woulda barely been enough..so i thought id come see you..but i can leave i guess if u want..." Tyler says as he looks towards the door.36

"Well..i guess..since your already here..i suppose you can stay for a few minutes. But just a few!"37

"Well then i guess i just gotta make these few minutes worth a whole night now don't i?" Tyler says with a grin as he leans down and kisses her.38

Tyler holds her close as he kisses her, his hands around her waist, hers around his neck. He breaks the kiss long enough to say "I love you.." then kisses her again. As they stand there, the door open and the night time breeze ruffling the sleeves of Tylers jacket, Emily standing on her tiptoes to reach Tylers mouth with hers, she realizes that this is true love. She knew because even though she was gonna see him the next day, and the day after, and the day after that, the hardest part about tonight was gonna be letting him go. And that told her that this was true love. She was afraid that if she let him go tonight, she'd be letting him go forever. And that thought was absurd. All she was letting go of was him to drive back to Lincoln (a 45 minute drive from their hometown) and to go to sleep. She knew she would see him the next day, but her hands wouldnt let him go.39

Tyler broke the kiss and leaned away from her and sighed.40

"Ems, I gotta get going..I snuck away to come see you and i still gotta go back before my parents know i left. I love you Emily..I really do." he says, then gives her one more quick kiss.41

"Tyler..ok. Alright. I'll talk to you in the morning though?"42

"Its the first thing i do when i open my eyes hun. Promise" he says as he turns to go.43

"Ok good! I love you too Tyler..I will forever and ever. And thats a promise" she says.44

Tyler stops at the door, turns around, and grabs her hand.45

"Emily..." is all he says then he slowly lets go and walks away into the dark. The last thing she hears before she shuts the door is the sound of his footsteps making there way down her long driveway. He must have parked at the end so that her parents wouldn't hear him pull up. As she shuts the door and walks back to her bedroom she pulls her phone out and see's she has a text message.46

"Emily I have never felt this way in my whole life. My world is now completely and totally changed. Everything i do is for you..your in my heart everywhere i go and everything reminds me of you. Sleep good baby, dream sweetly..of me if u can manage ...ill call you in the morning. I love you. Night"47

Emily smiles as she puts her phone on her charger and lays down in bed.48

Her last thought is the way that it felt when his hand was in hers as he stood in the doorway. The last thing she heard before falling asleep was the sound of his voice saying "Emily.." just before he turned away.49

This story is inspired by events that occured between me and my girlfried....sadly we are not together anymore, as things have that natural tendency to never work out
