Choice

This account is partially inspired by different aspects of my life, and a particular story written by a certain author: “Life Sucks Sometimes, But I Love It.”1

In my life, I've met a lot of people. Some I have long forgotten, some I recall during instances, a few I cherish to this day and hope to remember forever.2

There are those people I consider my friends, whether they view me the same way...I don't care. It doesn't matter anymore. I used to think that friendship is about two people mutually caring for each other. I still believe in that, a bit. Now though, I believe more on the ability of a person to move on or not. Moving on is a choice. Each person holds that choice for himself.3

I'll tell you something...4

Time and distance are factors of a friendship. Distance is an obstacle to the growth of a relationship—no matter how strong. When two people part and never see each other again, or still do but on a lesser basis, their present friendship grows weak...but their past will always be the same; they will always have those memories with them. It is their choice to either hold on to those memories and cherish them, or not. Friendship is all about choice—and so is life.5

I can name a few people I've known in the past, and in a lesser degree I may still know today. They have etched in me a sense of love and thoughtfulness that has changed me to the person I am now. 6

That is all I will say at this point. There is more to that...7

The people in my life are individuals I can never close to fully describe. All I know and all I will tell you is that they have been, they are, and they always will be a part of me.

Very true, words of wisdom at their best! I believe people are in our lives for a reason, to teach us something new about ourselves, how to be or not to be for example. We are all here to teach each other something I believe, whether we realize it is even happening or not.
I hope you enjoy college . Much love to you

  • Lovely. I whole heartedly agree with you. A lot of things change friendship, even if you don't want it to change.

    Keep writing!

    Nice piece...

...as it sounds part speculative and other a really good sharing of opinions. I love it when people think out loud, as I'm guilty of this. This piece also sounds like it could be a testament to your friends. It would also go great in a letter to send to a friend. Just a thought...

    beginning: 4, language: 4, plot: 4, ending: 4, dialog: 4, characters: 4.

  • Hi Adelaine!

I'm glad my story inspired you. I don't often think about the past, actually; but in that story I did some reflection. It seems in life that there are many people who influence it. The fond memories are, of course, the best.
