Guardian

1

I stared into the morning watching the sun rise. It was so bright yet my room was still dark. I loved the dark hence the black curtains on both windows. I wish I could be part of that beautiful outside world but I couldn't. I was a guardian. This included an ability, pain, and hatred toward all humans. Most people were changed by visiting, being an heir, or prisoner. 2

I was a prisoner to start. They gave me two options death or become like them. So I did, I was changed on June 11, 2009. Most think Twilight and vampires right away but that isn't even close. It is quite hard to explain so I will stop there.3

My ability was reading. If the others loved my ability because the second I touched a human I could tell their past, present, and future. This made it easier to tag them and decide which would be food, free, or us. 4

I changed into my dark blue tux getting ready to greet the people who would come today. Most people came to see our abilities they believed were magic, and we did the best we could to keep it that way. 5

I turned to the mirror checking my hair perfect, tux wrinkle free, and smile trickery at its finest. I headed toward the stairs wishing there was a way to escape this life but I highly doubt it. 6

There were only 3 people who had escaped from being a guardian and all of them were killed after. 7

I stared at the people smieling and acting happy and energetic for what they would see and do today. I walked onto the stage.8

"Welcome, boys, girls, ladies, gentlemen. I'm so happy you were all able to come check out the illusion center. Throughout the day you will get to experience many different things. Some will heal your body, others your mind, and maybe nothing at all. It's up to you to figure out whats real and whats not. So on that not lets get started. All our people will be walking around today so you can ask them questions." 9

The music started and the lights went down. I stepped off the stage only to come back on in a newer way. I was the first to start the illusions that way I could get out and answer questions instantly. 10

"Hello again. My name is Leo, now if you don't mind I would like to get a volunteer and I will tell you all about this person without talking to them." 11

I watched as people began to raise their hands. Hoping for someone with an interesting life behind them to read. The crowd looked like they all had ice in their pants. I laughed at this, then caught the eyes of the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. 12

I pointed to her, "You there. Why don't you come up. You look interesting enough." I waited for her to make her way to the stage. 13

This could be fun I thought to myself as she climbed the stairs. "Now when you get here I need you to put your hands out palm up and don't move. Think of your past." 14

I gave a slight smirk, hopefully she wasn't one of those who didn't have a clue about her own past. I reached my hands out taking only my middle finger and pointer finger on each hand and dragging it from her wrist to the end of her middle finger. I began to see her, her name, age, everything. Everything.15

As I was doing this I had to describe the process. I finally dropped her hands and finished. "Now if you were listening you should be able to do this to anyone later on." Not true only certain guardians could do this. "I will start with the easy stuff. I will say something and my volunteer up here will tell me if I am correct. This is were it begins to get tricky, for them because they think I'll be wrong and it becomes scary at how right I am." I said in a mocking tone.16

"Now my volunteers name for those of you who do not know is Jasmine, age 18, born March 8, 1991. When she was three years old she fell out of a tree, only the first of her troubles later in life. Am I correct about all this?" I turned toward her starring into her oh so mesmerizing eyes, the ones I was trying to avoid. 17

I leaned in to whisper in her ear. "You have so many things in your past that you don't even know about if you would ever like to figure them out come find me, I'll be here." 18

I turned back to the audience who were now clapping their hands excitedly. "Let's give it up for our volunteer Jasmine. Thank you very much. I know you all must want a turn now but sadly I must give the stage to Mr.Jense. If you would like to find me though later I would be happy to show you the trick, answer your questions, or whatever you wish." 19

I watched her step off stage. So pretty I thought to myself. I walked off stage and took the back way making my way toward the audience. Mr. Jense stepped on stage and began his show. I had already seen it many times so choose not to pay much attention. I began reading the book in my head that I had touched earlier. 20

This was one nice thing I never had to carry a book around me. All I had to do was touch it and I had the whole story in my head. 21

I suddenly noticed Jasmine in the corner of my eye. She was by the door. I could already read her thoughts. So I made my way over to her. "Hey can I help you? Did you have any questions?" I swallowed hard, waiting for her to answer. I was glad she couldn't read my thoughts. After all I was trying to hold back the impulse to kiss her. 22

"Wow Jazz, you have quit a way with words don't you. Are you always this nervouse." I laughed her mockingly. "Let's go to somewhere quieter." 23

I started walking hoping she was following and not offended by what I had just said. I rolled my eyes at her thoughts, me killing her, far off. Me kissing her out of the blue more likely. She would probally like that I could tell. I tried to diminish that thought and led her into a small room filled with windows. 24

"So what did you want to know I can tell you anything?" I waited for her response starting to bring her past memories clearly into my mind. 25

"Well your smart if you know that I can hear your thoughts. You see I said on stage you fell out of the tree at three this was because of a part of you that is struggling to break free. Always has been struggling. You had many injuries because of this part of you." 26

I waited for her answer. When she finally did speak, she did so in her mind. 'what the hell are you talking about' she had allowed herself to think. 27

"Well you see your father is Derek. He is part of the royal guardian family. Your mother is well as you can tell, just a mere human. Your mother didn't want you to suffer like the rest of the guardian people, so when she went to escape from your father she got Amazon, one of the most powerful binding guardians, to bind you. This way you would never experience the powers of a guardian or the pain. Of course your father didn't like this and your mother had to make a deal with Amazon. The only way to get your mother out of this deal and to start remembering your past is to get unbound, by Amazon. That would be almost as painful as being turned." I shuddered at that mere memory. "If I were in your situation I would stick to forgetting everything and stay human. It is alot safer. But the ultimate choice is up to you. Does that clear it up a little. If not what do you still have a question about?" 28

I stared at her, hoping she would by this story. Though it was all true it sounded nearly impossible. Plus I had left out a few parts for the sack of her own health. I cocked my head waiting for a response.29

I rolled my eyes as she made her stupid comments about me being crazy. I watched her try to sort it through in her mind. I finally grabbed her hand and said something new. "All is clear, all is well, let her see through the living hell." I froze trying to read her expression.30

"This will help clear everything up a little. Clean out that muddy water. Not entirly but a little, which is better than nothing. And I do know what kind of deal she made with Amazon, but I am not allowed to say for the sack of my own natural or un-natural being. Sorry." I try to keep a straight face but feel bad that I can't provide her better answers. 31

I listen to her try to plead with me. She still wants me to tell her the deal, but I can't. I really wish I could, but knowing it could end my own life I finally respond. "Sorry Jazz, but that is absolutly out of the question. Speak with your mother and do it fast. I think your father may have found out your here. Best of luck to you in your future." 32

I turn back toward the door and hold it open waiting for her. I feel bad that I'm not more helpful to her, but I try not to show it in my face. I simply smile. 33

I looked at her, knowing she was upset at me now. She asks where her mother is and out of kindness I answer. 34

"Your mother lives north of here, near Amazon's quarters. She helps her as part of the deal. You will probally figure the rest out once you get there. If you want I will go with, since you will be going in Guardian territory and that would be bad."35

Then I remembered her second question, 'what would my father do if he found me.' Or something along those lines. 36

"Your father would most likely unbind you, very painfully. Then bring you back to the royal house. You would live your life as a slave him for your misdimener. Or you would be treated as an heir and have to go through training all day. Or he would simply kill you, or imprison you, or more. It depends on his mood that day, which normally isn't good."37

I laughed a little to myself about the small memories I had of Derek. I tried to keep my casual tone. 38

I reached out to help her stand as she lost her balance. I listened to the rest of her question. 'Are you sure you should go with.' Of course I wasn't sure. 39

"I need a reason to get out of here and it would give them a reason to kill me. Which may be good. So yes I'm sure I can go with you since that is my choice. Now whether you want me to or not is your choice." I smiled at her, glad she couldn't read my thoughts. 40

I waited for an answer hoping she would say yes. I still wanted to be near her for some reason as if leaving her and sending to her death would be the stupidest thing I could ever do.

Author notes

This is a story that I hope to continue. My friend dreamcloud-9 has the same story through Jasmines view. Check it out.
Also the begining comment about Twilight is not meant to be offensive. In fact I am a huge Twilight fan myself.

What do you think? Any ways to make it better?
