Drip, drip drip. Kami tried to tune out all the sounds around her. Drip, drip. "Stupid leaky faucet...Justin was supposed to fix that," she told herself. Justin... Kami began to cry into her hands at the thought of him, as the bathtub filled up around her "Justin..." she said again, her voice trailing away. She closed her eyes and let her head slide underwater, as she began to count backwards from a thousand.

Kami held out the Fathers Day card to her boyfriend Justin, hoping he would get the message. He opened the card with a confused expression. "But..." he looked at her and saw her grin. "Oh my god!!!" he exclaimed. He picked Kami up and began to spin her around in circles laughing. "Oh wow..." he said. That went well...Kami thought. He sat her down and placed his hand on her stomach. "I can't believe this...am I really going to be a Daddy?" he asked her. "I'm three months along" she told him. He kissed her softly on the lips. " I know I should have told you sooner...I'm really sorry but-" Justin put his finger to her lips to shush her. "You, have just made me the happiest man alive" he told her. He picked her up and carried her into their house.
Justin woke up the next morning to the sound of Kami vomiting. "You okay in there babe?" he called out. "Yeah, I'm fine. I just have an upset stomach." She walked back into the room and sat down. Justin was searching frantically through his dresser. "Watchya lookin for?" she asked him. "Just hold on a minute, I know it's here somewhere." Justin was shaking as he looked for the little black box. "Ah, here it is." he said with relief, frabbing the box. He turned towards Kamiand walked to where she was standing. He kneeled down in front of her. "You have made the past year of my life an absolute dream. I love you more than anything in this world, and I want to be with you forever. Marry me?" His voice was trembeling. He saw a tear stream down her face. "Oh man she's going to say no..." he thought to himself. "Are you crazy? I wouldn't have it any other way!! Of course!!!" Justin grinned from ear to ear as he slid the ring on her finger. "It's a perfect fit." He stood up and pulled Kami into his arms. "I love you," he whispered softly into her ear Kami's heart was racing. She just knew he was the one.
Kami and Justin were extremely busy the next few months. They'd planned the wedding, and were getting the nursery ready for what they found out was going to be a boy. They had even decided on the perfect name. Trevin Seann. Kami just loved it. Her belly grew quickly. Kami, for some odd reason, wanted to get married while she was still pregnant. She thought that her stomach was just the cutest thing. And she was right, she looked absolutely beautiful on her wedding day. They got married in Kami's 7th month. Her life was a complete dream. Nothing made her happier that to fall asleep and awake in Justin's arms. Life was, I guess you could say, absolutely perfect. Neither of them had really any clue how abrupt their fairy tale was about to end.
The day had come for the doctors to enduce Kami's labor. It was rainy, and cold, and Kami was pitching a fit. She was getting really worried. She hadn't really felt right all day, maybe just because of the nervousness of getting ready to become a new mom...she didn't really know. She just knew something was wrong. Justin was nervous too, she could tell. "Justin, slow down honey, before you get us a ticket." she told him. Even as Justin slowed down, Kami couldn't shake the feeling....A horn blared, tires screeched, she saw headlights, and she saw Justin mouth the words "I love you", before everything went dark.
When Kami woke up, she was terrible confused. She was in a hospital room, and she felt groggy. She tried to stand up, but felt a sharp pain and fell. She called out for Justin, and instead a nurse walked in. "Are you okay Mrs. Walker?" the nurse asked her. "Do I freaking look okay to you? What in the hell is going on here, where's my husband? And why can't I feel Trevin moving?"" Kami demanded. She was so full of questions. The nurse helped Kami back to the bed and sat her down. "Mrs. Walker, I know that this may be hard for you...." the nurse seemed reluctant to continue. "You were in an accident-" Kami cut her off "Oh I wasn't either, I would remember something like that...just stop playing games and tell me where Justin is." The nurse replied " Your car was struck by a driver who's brakes went out, oddly enough right at a stop light...he is in being questioned right now...anyways, he couldn't stop after he'd seen your car, he tried swerving but...Justin didn't make it, he had severe head trauma...we tried to save the baby, but the blow from your passenger side air bags was just to great...I'm so sorry..." the nurse tried to explain in a sympathetic voice, but Kami wouldn't listen. She just stared in disbelief. "No, you're wrong, Justin will be here any minute now. I think I was wrong too...I...I think I can still feel the baby." Kami stammered. "I'm so sorry Mrs. Walker," the nurse repeated. Kami began to scream. "I want my husband and my baby!! Don't you dare sit there and tell me they are gone, they just can't be!!!"
Many times after Kami was released from the hospital, she'd wake up screaming for Justin and the baby. She wandered her empty house alone, often falling asleep in the unused nursery, crying into the bear Justin had bought for the baby. She just couldn't take the silence, it was too much for her...

Kami began to cry into her hands at the thought of him, as the bathtub filled up around her "Justin..." she said again, her voice trailing away. She closed her eyes and let her head slide underwater, and she began to count backwards from a thousand, as the noises fell silent, and the world, faded to black.

Aw. Sad. I liked how you began and ended with the same thing, I always think that's cool...and an effective way to tie things together, especially when a story's told in a flashback like this one. Thanks for this and good luck!

wonderful
wow. that was so pretty and sad at the same time. -
No... it's all pretty clear. That was really sad. I would hate it if I lost my husband and baby like that... I would probably do the same thing. Just one thing buged me though... when the nurse is explaining to Kami about her baby and Justin, you used Travis instead of Justin... just thought you might want to know that... otherwise, just a few spelling errors that I will let slide and beautiful story and gook luck in the contest. Thanks for entering and keep up the great work.
