chapter two

The ride home from the fair was not pleasant. I could have had a better choice for a driver. I mean the way Chris could just sit there and tap his fingers to his little gay music like nothing was wrong just down right pissed me off! 1

I was glad when we got home to see my dad standing in the upstairs window. I wasn’t in the mood for Chris to try anything. Not after the way he acted at the fair. He didn’t even apologize!2

I opened the door and slipped out, hurriedly moving towards the front door. I was really hoping Chris would just stay in his little world and stay in the car. Of course the worst had to happen. He came up beside me and put his arms around me. I just wanted to get inside the house and go to my room. I was exhausted from the worst day of my life! 3

“Hey Kameel, I had a really great time today. And I am glad you were there. It was a lot of fun; Happy tenth month anniversary. I love you.” Chris said leaning in to kiss Kameel. 4

Great! Now he says something. Oh well. I might as well kiss him to get him off my back. “I love you too.”5

Luckily he left after two more kisses. When he did I practically dove into the house and locked the front door behind me! My folks must have thought I was a complete and total maniac. I just wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone. 6

I tossed and turned all night and by the time the morning came I was a complete wreck. 7

I woke up with my hair all a mess and my forgotten mascara running down my face. I could barely open my eyes. This sucked! 8

I dragged my tired body to the shower. Styled my hair and redid my make up. By the time ten thirty rolled around I was finally down stairs in the kitchen rummaging through the kitchen. 9

“Wow what’s wrong with you?” asked Johnny, Kameel’s little brother.10

“Nothing” 11

Honestly what could be better than your little brother terrorizing you as soon as you got up? It’s lovely...no really! “Hey Debbie, I am going out today. Okay? I probably won’t be home for a while!” 12

“What’s that Kameel?” called Debbie from her bedroom.13

What is she deaf? “I said I am going out with Teena and Spike. We are going to go to the mall and probably after we’ll be going to Teena’s house.”14

“Oh okay dear. That’ll be okay. Just call me when you are ready to come home.” She replied.15

“Yeah will do” I yelled back and ran out the door to the garage. 16

Hmmm about twenty five minutes to swing by Danny’s house and pick up Spike then hike it over to Teena’s; shouldn’t be too bad if I take the shortcut.17

Wow I forgot Danny lives at the top of the tallest hill. That took so long!18

“Hey Kameel, let’s go!” called Spike coming around the side of the house on her black and green skateboard. “We’re going to be late!”19

Man this feels good, Spike and I cruising around town on our skateboards. 20

“Hey there’s Teena’s house. She’s probably going to be pissed at us for being late.” said Spike. 21

That could be a bad thing. Last time I remember us being late she went ballistic on our butts. It was kind of funny but really annoying. I just hope it doesn’t happen again.22

“Hey guys. How are you doing? We better get going or we won’t get a good amount of time at the mall.” Teena yelled to Spike and Kameel running out of the house.23

She’s not mad? That’s weird.24

“So you’re not mad that we are late?” asked Spike.25

Wait for it….wait for it….26

“Nah it’s all good.” 27

Oh well that’s okay. Not being yelled at for being late is all good as far as I can tell. 28

“Hey we made good time in getting here eh?” said Spike.29

“Yeah I know. Hey what store you want to go in first?” I asked. Oh please say Boutiques, please say Boutiques.30

“I want some new jeans from Boutiques, any one mind if we head there first?” asked Spike starting to walk over. 31

“Hey sounds cool to me. We might as well start at a store with pants and then we can head over to Glorious Glamour and get some accessories and jewelry. Sound good?” said Teena.32

“Yeah” I replied. “I wonder if they are having their sale still.”33

“I know what you mean, last week I came in and jeans were like 50- 75% off. It was so amazing.” announced Teena. “Maybe I can even find a matching Tee I can afford.”34

I think we are all a little hyper about going shopping today; it’s been like so long since we have all had money; and all been in the same place. But since I got my job at the Salon and Teena started working at the day care for her aunt we have had money. And you know lucky Spike doesn’t have to work, she gets a super great allowance. Lucky duck! Kind of makes you jealous. 35

Hmmm I wonder what I should try on. “Hey guys what do you think of this hot pink tank and baby blue jeans?”36

“I love your taste. What do you think about this nice blue skirt and blue spaghetti strap?” asked Teena. “Ooh and this cute little pearl necklace and red sash?”37

“OOOOH beautiful!” exclaimed Spike grabbing a black silk skirt and yellow top. “Let’s get our clothes on!”38

You would not believe how beautiful we sexy ladies looked when we got into our clothes. It was so fun. We got all our jazzy accessories on and walked around. I mean we all left that store with awesome outfits. Then we went to Glorious Glamour and got some jewelry.39

“Hey you all ready to go explore the mall?” yelled Teena running down the path dancing crazily. “Maybe find some hot guys?”40

I love Teena she always does the dorkiest things. She loves to dance in malls and doesn’t care what people think of her. “Bring it on sister!”41

“WAHOO!” yelled Spike throwing her hands up in the hair and twirling.42

That’s good old Spike for you! She’s always doing crazy things and you know trying to be cool and all. I’m just playing. Spike and I are tight. I always joke about her and her about me. It’s so fun. 43

“Ooh do you guys see those hot guys coming this way?” whispered Spike laughing. “Ooh look at the hot one with the black baseball cap and black and white Adidas shoes. He’s dreamy.” 44

“What you say? You aren’t supposed to be talking like that. What if Danny was to hear you?” Laughed Teena said. 45

“And you think he’s going to know…? Unless you tell him, which you won’t huh?” replied Spike snickering. “I’m just having some fun!”46

“Hey you two quick drooling check our blondie at twelve O clock!” I love blonde haired guys. And gosh was this guy cute! Man I really should not be checking out hotties like this at the mall. But you know, it’s not like Chris doesn’t look at other girls. Yeah I see him checking out the cheerleaders, Devis included. I mean what’s that compared to a little harmful fun right? “Now he’s dreamy!”47

“Hey, hey look they are coming this way!” Spike snickered. “Just smile and look pretty!”48

“That is some good advice.” I had to laugh at her. She always comes up with the funniest suggestions. But really what is funnier is that after I criticize her suggestions I always go ahead and do what she says. It’s kind of pathetic. 49

“Hey ladies,” yelled the blonde boy waving and nodding his head in the girls’ direction “Looking good!”50

“Hey thanks, you too!” yelled spike turning her head around as the guys walked by. 51

“Hey guys quick let’s yell that they are hot really loud?” I yelled quietly.52

“Okay” they answered in unison. 53

“Okay… One…Two…Three…”54

“YOU GUYS ARE HOT!” we all yelled through the mall.55

“That was fun!” said Spike laughing.56

“I know!” agreed Teena.57

That was, like, so cool. I Love doing that kind of thing with these guys. It’s so fun! We really have to do that more often. Sometimes I think we wish we were all single. Single life can really be called much more fun! 58

“Hey you guys want to come over to my house tonight?” asked Teena. “My parents will be totally cool about it! And we really need to catch up!”59

“Sweet!” yelled Spike excitedly. “Can I borrow your cell phone though mine is at home in my room charging?”60

“Yeah no problem” she replied handing her the phone. “Kameel you need to use it too?”61

“Yes!” I sometimes wish I weren’t the only odd one without a cell phone. But dad says I don’t need it! And he also doesn’t think I can hold a job long enough to have money to pay the bill each room, which I find totally absurd! Thanks for the support dad!62

“Okay I can come.” announced Spike handing the phone to Kameel. “It’s all yours.”  63

“Thanks.” 64

A few minutes later it was agreed that we would all stay the night at Teena’s. This is going to be so cool! It’s been so long since we’ve had a sleep over with just the three of us! I can’t wait!65

We arrived at her house a little while later. “Hey mom we’re home.” Yelled Teena as we walked past the kitchen where her mom was making super. 66

“Hey Mrs. Turner” I said walking past after Teena followed by Spike. “Hey you guys I am just going to use the washroom, I will be there in a second okay?”67

“Hey yeah sure, just hurry up.” replied Teena. 68

Okay I’ll just make this quick and I can go back and we can have some fun…Hey what the heck? I walked around the corner before the bathroom but quickly hid behind the side after seeing Mr. Turner and Don, Teena’s brother, having a very heated conversation. Uh OH!69

“YOU KNOW WHAT? JUST LEAVE ALONE!” yelled Don, stomping off. “Oh wow, hey Kameel.”70

“Hey…Hi…Don, what’s up?” I stuttered. Oh crap, why do I always stutter when I talk to him? I must look like a total geek!”71

“Oh nothing, just having some problems with my dad, you wouldn’t want to hear about it,” he replied.72

“But I would. You seem pretty upset. It’s really actually a very good thing to talk about something that is bugging you when you are mad. You know, to get it off your chest.” Wow I seriously sound like a professor or a doctor or something. ECK!73

“Well it’s just well you can see my new hair, blonde and all?” he began. “Well I wasn’t supposed to get it. I got against my dad’s rules.” 74

“Oh?”75

“Yeah, I asked and he told me I wasn’t going to dye my hair.” he continued. “He thinks anything like this is an act of rebellion and well it’s just not supposed to happen. And even though I knew that I went and got it, just to piss him off!” 76

“Wow, I see.”77

“Yeah and well as you probably had the unfortunate opportunity to hear, he didn’t take it very well.” 78

“Awe that’s not very good at all!” I felt really bad for him. That must suck. I didn’t exactly know what to say though. So I felt kind of more horrible.79

“Hey you know what? I should not be piling this on you. You are here with Teena I suppose. So I am not going to keep you any longer.” he said almost suddenly it almost scared me. 80

“Oh, well yeah but if you need someone to talk to, I am always here okay?” I tried to sound reassuring. I don’t think it was going very well!81

“Thanks I really appreciate that.” he smiled and starting walking down the hall then stopped. “Hey Kameel, were you guys at the mall today?”82

“Yeah we were. Why?” I replied.83

“Oh just wondering.” he said walking away.84

Hmm that was weird. But oh goodness I need to pee! And Spike and Teena must be wondering where I am! Oh well. I’ll be quick. 85
