Dear Son1
When you were a child, the doctors said you wouldn’t survive. They said you would die, and even if you lived, you wouldn’t be a normal child. You wouldn’t enjoy what an average child would. I corrected them. I told them you would still be loved by your mother.2
I knew that I couldn’t give you everything you wanted. I didn’t have that power. I could see the pain in your eyes, the struggle to become like the other children, but I could not do anything. But I was foolish. I thought that my love would be enough for you to survive. It certainly had been enough when you were a baby. You survived then, didn’t you?3
But I was wrong. In today’s world, a mother’s love isn’t enough for any child, not even an ‘abnormal’ one like you. I thought that if you were different from other children in your thoughts and actions, I thought you would be different from other children in the way you treated your mother too. But you didn’t. Dear son, you left me brokenhearted the day I saw your dead body lying on the floor.4
My love wasn’t enough. You wanted a job like the others, a wife like the others, and a proper family like the others. I had to leave the whole world behind to raise you, yet you didn’t understand why you couldn’t be a part of that world. 5
But I don’t blame you, or your father, or God, or anyone else. Not even those people who mistreated you and harassed you. It was my foolishness in thinking I could give you a happy life. I should have known that you would never be happy. I should have never given birth to you. I’m sorry. You have forgiven your mother for her foolishness, haven’t you? 6
I know you have. I know you still love me. They call me mad. They tell me you are dead, and long gone. That I should stop having such delusions. But these aren’t delusions, I tried to tell them. This is just a proof of my love. A proof of how you can never leave me alone, not even in death. Thank you my son. Thank you for forgiving me. I promise you, I will never let anyone harass you again. We will live this new life together, only both of us, happily ever after. 7
Author notes
This is inspired by a story called 'I Love you, Sammie' by Rainy.Day.Kisses. Also by a column about mentally disabled children. It is written for another contest, but the temptation of getting an honorable mention just on entering a new story was too bad.
This is 401 words.

That was nice...
but it didn't have only 4 paragraphs. I'll see how many others had more then 4 paragraphs... but until then I will say I'm not sure. IT WAS AMAZING, THOUGH! -
This is so touching. You can tell that the mother really loves the child even if the child may not be "normal". This is great.
Thank you for taking the time to enter my contest.

WOW! So touching. (Say good things Shah, You're not insensitive.)
Really it was very good. I didn't find anything wrong either. But just If the A/N are meant for me that, i must tell you that this is a prewrite. By new story I mean a story submitted though the contest link. Anyways this is great, best of luck. -

It's actually 403
This is sad, I want to know what was wrong with the child before he died... This is a really sweet story, and I found no errors in the story either.
Really well done, and goodluck with my contest 400
