Chapter 2 Turning Events

The clock struck eight thirty and the chimes echoed through the empty room. The girls, who were in the kitchen, looked to each other, smiles on their faces. Liana stirred the rice around some more, watching as the water lost its clarity. Jinxi on the other hand continued to decorate the room, while Stella placed the fish onto a large china dish. They nodded to each other agreeing the majority of the work was done, and then walked back into the bedroom. The girls took a seat on Liana’s bed, being it was closer to the door. They sat in silence, listening as the seconds ticked away. Liana, Jinxi, and Stella started looking around their room, as if for the first time. Liana jumped when the silence was broken by a knock. She sighed, realizing it was only the guys. Jinxi got up, walking towards the door while the other two headed back towards the kitchen. 2

“Hi,” said Jinxi opening the door, and seeing the guys standing smiling at her.3

“Hi,” Salem and Adrian answered back. 4

Fang stood staring straight ahead, a frown on his face. Salem and Adrian walked in, following Jinxi back to the dining room. Fang then walked in, someone hooked to his arm and two people trailing behind them. Everyone proceeded to take a seat, while Liana and Stella set out the food. Stella finished and sat down while Liana put the rice bowl on the table, and took the last available seat next to Fang. He continued to stare at nothing, the girl hanging on his arm. 5

“Claudia, your gonna have to let go to eat?” sighed Salem, trying not to laugh. The blonde haired girl looked up at Salem, a sad expression on her face. The two other girls were identical twins, and they just smiled at Fang and Claudia. The girl named Claudia had a look of innocence on her face, until finally, she released Fang’s arm. She slowly grabbed for her fork, and stuck it into the flounder. Putting the fish to her mouth she took a bite, and smiled happily. 6

“Yum,” she smiled.7

Stella looked at her happily, and smiled back.8

“I’m happy you like it.”9

Everyone dug into their food, happily munching away. Liana looked at Claudia and Fang in confusion. 10

Are they going out? Why didn’t he have her over before? thought Liana to herself.11

Fang grabbed his fork and started to stuff the rice into his mouth. Liana continued to stare at the two, an eyebrow cocked. Claudia looked towards Liana, and the smile on her face faded into a frown. Liana’s facial expression changed also but to more of a shocked and hesitant look. Claudia’s frown changed into a smirk, and she looked towards the twins, who also smiled.12

“So, Claudia, your Salem’s sister?” asked Stella.13

Claudia looked over at her and nodded, as she grabbed Fang’s arm again. Fang made no movement, but continued to shove the rice into his mouth. 14

“Who might you be?” asked Stella looking towards the twins. 15

“My name is Madeline,” said one. 16

“My name is Madelyn,” said the other. 17

“Cool!” said Jinxi, “How can you tell who is who?” 18

“Well, as you can see we wear different colors,” said Madelyn, slowly as if Jinxi’s was dumb.19

Madelyn was wearing a red shirt and denim jeans, while Madeline was wearing a blue shirt and denim jeans. They both had dark black hair, and clear complexions. There eyes were a brown that almost seemed to have a hint of gold. They were tall, with a skinny figure and had long nails painted both black and white. Claudia finished what was on her plate and then clung to Fang again. Liana started to clear the dishes, as usual. She walked by everyone and balanced the plates in a stack, as she reached Fang, he handed her the plate, looked up at her and smiled. Liana smiled back and moved on to Claudia, who gave her an evil smile and placed the plate on the edge of the stack, unbalancing the others. Liana struggled to keep them in balance but they fell. 20

Damn it! Liana thought. She got to her knees, and started to pick up the broken glass from the floor. The shattered plates would be impossible to fix it, unless of course she used magic.21

It’s pointless thought Liana, sighing, and placing the glass in her cupped hand. 22

“I’ll help,” said Claudia, getting up. 23

She walked over to Liana who was crouched down on her knees, still picking up the shattered remains.24

“Humph!” laughed Claudia.25

Liana’s tank top strap fell, so she pushed it up again. 26

“Wow,” laughed Claudia. 27

“What?” asked Liana, looking up.28

The others were talking, not hearing a word the two were conversing to each other 29

“You actually wear a bra,” Claudia smirked looking up at Liana. 30

Liana looked up at her, a huge frown on her face. Liana was angry and embarrassed, which didn’t much mix. When Liana had all the glass in her hand, she stood up, her head down, and walked towards the garbage to throw the glass out. She thought about what Claudia had said, and she squeezed her fists, tighter and tighter together until…31

“Ow!” said Liana, opening her clenched fist. 32

Blood started dripping down her fingers and onto the floor. She had cut herself on the glass. Liana threw the glass out and walked over to the sink. She ran some hot water and stuck her hand under the liquid to clean her wound. As the water purified and cleansed the cuts, Liana breathed, a burning sensation tingled her fingers. Claudia walked back over to Fang and hung to his arm. 33

“Are you ok?” Fang ask, looking up at Liana. 34

“Yeah,” said Liana, smiling as she turned around. 35

Perfect thought Claudia, hair falling in front of her face. She then placed her head on Fang, as Liana took her seat again. 36

Liana looked around, she saw the twins also seemed to be planning something. Liana then looked back over to Claudia, who saw Liana looking at her and started to play with Fang’s hair. Claudia started to twirl Fang’s black hair in her fingers, then run her finger down his neck, sending chills down his spine. Every time Claudia ran her finger down the back of Fang’s neck, his head cocked to the side, from the odd sensation. Liana rolled her eyes and looked over towards Jinxi. She was staring at Salem as he talked, making Liana giggle. Liana looked over towards Salem. His orange hair had two tuffs sticking up.37

I wonder if that’s what Jinxi’s looking at? Liana thought. Wait, oh my gosh those are cat ears! Liana yelled in her head. From the outside Liana looked like she just got hit in the face. Salem and Claudia must be cats also she thought. 38

Salem’s two ears had very light and faint red spots all over them, but Liana also noticed one of his ears was torn at the end. It looked as if something clawed and slashed at the tip.39

What happened Liana asked herself. Liana zoned back in and looked over at Claudia. She continued to play with Fang’s hair when she looked up at Liana. With one hand she clung to Fang and with the other she twirled his hair. Claudia stopped playing with Fang’s hair and placed her hand on his shoulder, looking up at him. Fang did not look down at her but bluntly stared at the wall. 40

Why does he let her do that? Liana thought. 41

Claudia smiled and gave a thumbs up to the twins. They gave an evil smirk and got up, “We need to use the bathroom,” they said. 42

“Over there,” said Stella pointing past Liana. 43

“Thank you,” they said.44

The two went to walk past Claudia, Fang and Liana. As they walked by, Madelyn pushed Claudia, who bumped into Fang, hitting Liana. Liana’s chair came out from underneath her, and she went to grab something as she fell. Instead of grabbing something stable, she grabbed the tablecloth. She fell to the floor with a loud thump. Claudia smiled and the twins snickered as they walked to the bathroom. Fang looked down at her concerned, he went to help her up, but Claudia whined to Fang, “My shoulder hurts,” Fang looked at her, confused. 45

“Fang, will you take me to the nurse, my shoulder really hurts,” said Claudia, looking up at him. Claudia stood up, still attached to Fang, dragging him along. 46

Liana had gotten off the floor and fixed her chair, placing it right side up. Her hand was throbbing in pain, but the cuts were no longer there. 47

Ok attitude Liana thought, plopping down in her seat, glancing at her hand again.48

The others waited in silence for a few minutes. 49

“Guess the twins aren’t coming back either, huh?” asked Jinxi. 50

Stella shook her head, a serious expression on her face. 51

“No offence, Salem, but Claudia clings to Fang like a bracelet,” said Jinxi, frowning. 52

“Yeah I know,” said Salem, shaking his head. 53

“She’s always been obsessed with him, but sometimes she goes to far,” said Adrian. 54

“We’re sorry if we caused you any trouble,” the two said, looking at the three girls. 55

“No,” said Jinxi and Stella. 56

Adrian and Salem looked at Liana, “I’m fine,” she answered, ignoring the feeling in her hand. 57

The five people remaining at the dinner table started up a conversation again. Another hour or so had passed and everyone was happy and laughing, when there was a knock on the door. 58

“Wow, we have a lot of guest,” said Jinxi. 59

Everyone laughed and Liana got up to answer the door. It was Fang and Claudia, with Madeline and Madelyn behind them. 60

Joy thought Liana. 61

She moved over so that the guest could come in. Claudia smiled as she walked in holding Fang’s hand. They all took seats at the table again. The room went dead silent and Salem and Adrian looked at each other, shaking their heads. Claudia snuggled up to Fang like a yearning kitten. She smiled at Liana, then Liana hatched an idea humbly smiling back. Fang sat between both Liana and Claudia, again. Liana looked up at Fang. “So are you ok?” Liana asked, glancing towards Claudia.62

She looked at her with a sad face and nodded yes. 63

“Cause Fang took me,” she said, looking up at him. 64

Fang looked down at the table, still saying not a word. 65

What to do? Liana asked herself. An evil smirk drew on her face, and she gazed at Fang through the corner of her eye. 66

“Can you help me?” Liana asked Fang. 67

“Um, sure,” said Fang, standing up, following behind Liana. 68

Claudia looked up at Fang and then glared towards Liana. Liana smiled and raised an eyebrow. She walked over towards the cabinets and pointed to a bowl. 69

“Can you get that?” she asked. 70

“Sure,” smiled Fang. 71

Liana bent down as Fang stood on his tiptoes. 72

“Maybe you shouldn’t put things so high up,” said Fang looking down at Liana. “Well why not, I know you’ll help me,” said Liana, moving closer to Fang. 73

Fang had the bowl at the tips of his fingers. He grasped it fully, and handed it to Liana. 74

“Thank you,” said Liana, looking up at Fang. 75

Liana then stretched out her hand and brushed the hair from his eyes, smiling. Claudia was staring at the two, in anger. 76

“Your hair is so smooth,” smiled Liana. 77

Fang just stared down at her a grin on his face. Claudia gritted her teeth as she watched Liana, her fists clawing the table’s underside. Liana combed her fingers through Fang’s hair and down his neck. Fang’s head tilted to the side, shivers traveling down his spine. Claudia started to flare her teeth, then finally she snapped. 78

“Don’t touch him he’s mine!” Claudia screamed. 79

Liana looked over at Claudia and smiled. Fang continued to gaze down at Liana, the smile still on his face. Liana then took her fingers out of Fang’s hair. The others looked from Claudia to Liana and back again. 80

“You little tramp!” shouted Claudia. 81

Liana continued to smile, not a word came from her mouth. 82

“What happened?” Salem and Adrian asked, looking towards the shouting girl. “She is being a bitch and flirting with Fang, when she knows he is mine!” shouted Claudia. 83

“What?” asked Salem, trying not to laugh. 84

Just then Fang appeared behind Claudia. He put his hand on her shoulder and looked down at her. 85

“Claudia, I’m not your boyfriend,” said Fang, a concerned look on his face. Claudia slowly looked up at him, tears filling her eyes. 86

“You… you really are heartless!” she shouted, storming out of the room. 87

The twins looked at each other and left. 88

Fang’s hand slowly came to his side, and his head looked down at the floor. 89

“Fang?” asked Salem. 90

Fang looked at him and then walked into the bedroom. Liana looked down at the floor, then back at Fang. She followed after him into the room. 91

“Fang?” asked Liana. 92

She stopped dead in her tracks, she saw Fang with his face buried in his hands, sitting on Jinxi’s bed.93

“Fang?” asked Liana. 94

Fang made no movement but continued to hide his face. Liana walked over towards him, putting her hand on his shoulder. She knelt down to see his face, since he wouldn’t look up. His black ruffled hair covered his eyes. She put her hand on his cheek, turning his head. His eyes were gray and no emotion on his face. 95

“Fang?” Liana asked, slightly afraid.96

His lifeless eyes looked at her, as she held his face. 97

“Fang,” she said, in almost a whisper. 98

She took her hand from Fang’s cheek and his lanky body started to tilt and fall. Liana caught him before he hit the floor. 99

“Guys,” called Liana. 100

The others couldn’t hear her. 101

I love their concern thought Liana. 102

“Um, Fang?” asked Liana holding him so he was face up, lying on her lap. 103

She looked into his gray eyes, they seemed cold and endless. His pale skin and black hair, made his eyes look even more unfitting. 104

“Guys!” Liana shouted, “Please come!” 105

The others finally heard her and came running in. 106

“Fang!” shouted Adrian and Salem seeing Fang’s body on the floor. 107

They got to their knees and held Fang’s body. 108

“No, Fang!” said Salem. 109

Fang’s head tilted to the side and hung there. 110

“You have a heart, don’t listen!” shouted Adrian. 111

“What?” asked Jinxi and Liana, confused. 112

The room grew dark, and the color of the walls started to change to black. The room seemed as if it was melting, like the walls were pulling down into the floor, but instead, the walls were melting. The black glop started to fall down to the floor. The lights of the bedroom started to flicker on and off and a eerie noise rung out through the room. The girls slowly moved closer together, each taking a different side, to look for any trouble. 113

“Fang, no!” shouted Adrian. 114

Fang’s head tilted towards Adrian, and his emotionless face smiled. Adrian’s eyes opened wide, and his head was thrown up so he was staring at the ceiling. He started to gasp and grab at his throat, as if trying to force down air. He was being chocked.115

“What’s happening?” asked Jinxi, her ears pointed down. 116

“Fang, stop!” shouted Salem, “Please!” 117

The gray in Fang’s eyes swirled and intertwined, as Adrian continued to suffocate. Fang‘s smile became evil and psychotic. 118

“Fang!” shouted Salem. 119

Fang raised his arm up and Salem’s body flew across the room. Salem hit the wall hard, and fell to the floor with a thud. The girls all looked at Fang. 120

“Please stop,” Jinxi and Stella begged. 121

Liana stared at Fang her eyes wide open in terror and shock. The walls then started to stretch out, engulfing both Adrian and Salem. Salem’s unconscious body was being pulled into the clay like wall, but Jinxi ran over to help him. Fang’s head snapped in her direction as she ran past. Fang raised his hand as if to say stop, when the floor started to pull Jinxi in. Jinxi held Salem’s face as she got pulled in, “Wake up!” she yelled. Stella went to Adrian’s aid. Fang had stopped chocking him, and now Adrian’s eyes were open and his head down looking at the floor, unconsciously. Fang raised a finger, and a bed was flung, separating Stella for Adrian. Stella started to sink into the floor as Adrian hung from the ceiling. Liana stood there, waiting to also sink into the floor. 122

“Stop please,” said Liana in a whisper. “Stop please!” she shouted, tears coming from her eyes. 123

Fang looked at her, his head tilting in confusion. 124

“Please stop,” said Liana falling to her knees. “Look what you’re doing!” she said, looking up at Fang.125

He looked down at her, the gray still whirling around in his eyes. The walls then came to an immediate halt, stopping any form of movement. The others were slowly lifted, or dropped back into a normal position, and the walls started to crawl back up, regaining their original color. The clouds that had been forming in Fang’s eyes stopped, when he saw the fear in Liana’s. 126

“Fang, I know you’re not heartless, we all know that, we care!” said Liana, chocking over tears.127

Fang looked around at all his friends and rose to his feet. He threw his arm up, and the walls turned solid again. Stella laid on the floor, along with Jinxi, and Salem. Adrian started to fall from the ceiling, but Fang walked over and caught him with one outstretched arm. Liana looked up at him, and he looked down at her as he placed down Adrian’s body and disappeared. Liana looked around the room, it looked like nothing had happened, unless you looked at the people, and perhaps the overturned bed. Jinxi was trying to wake Salem up, while Stella was checking that Adrian was still breathing. Liana got up and helped everyone as best she could. Jinxi and Liana picked Salem up and brought him over to a bed. They carefully laid him down and then moved on to Adrian. Stella went to both of them, making sure they were ok. Liana walked over to her own bed and with the help of Jinxi, flipped in back right side up, and rested her head in her hands. Just then Claudia walked in, the twins following. 128

“Aw, what happened in here?” she asked. 129

“You knew, you knew that would happen,” said Liana. She looked up at Claudia in disgust. 130

“Maybe, but now he is all mine, you could never except him for what he is and neither could any other girl!” snickered Claudia. 131

Jinxi and Stella looked up at Claudia. 132

“That is sad and pathetic!” hissed Jinxi. “Get out!” she shouted, flashing her teeth at Claudia. 133

Claudia hissed at Jinxi and ran out, the twins whining behind her. In the mists of the argument, Salem woke. 134

“Ah,” he moaned, trying to sit back up.135

“Lay back down,” said Jinxi. 136

Salem looked at her, and listened, slowly lying back down. “How’s Adrian,” he asked, looking at his buddy. 137

“He should be fine,” answered Stella, smiling.138

“That’s good,” smiled Salem. He looked at Jinxi, “Thanks.” 139

“Sh,” said Jinxi, smiling. 140

“Did Fang get hurt?” asked Salem. 141

“No, why are you worrying about him!” said Liana, throwing her head up. 142

“He is a Kigam, and he didn’t mean to hurt us,” said Salem, smiling. 143

What? thought Liana. 144

As they talked, Adrian regained conscience. He listen in silence as they talked about Fang. 145

“He isn’t bad, he just, he didn’t mean to hurt us, it wasn’t intentional,” said Salem. 146

“So what, your just gonna go out and find him then act like nothing happened?” Liana asked. 147

“Well, yeah,” said Salem. 148

True friends thought the three girls. 149

“Well, we won’t say anything,” said Stella, looking down at Adrian. 150

“That wasn’t a fear or anything, but thank you,” said Adrian, opening his eyes. “So I guess we really are your friends now, huh?” asked Jinxi, looking down at the floor. 151

“Guess so,” the others answered, their voices quiet. 152

“Will Fang be ok?” asked Liana. 153

“Yeah,” answered Adrian sitting up. 154

Adrian’s neck was adorned with strangle marks around. They looked red in the middle with slightly black and blue edges lining. Liana saw them, and her gaze fell to the floor. The silence of the room seemed to drag on to the silence of thought.155

“Has he ever done that before?” asked Jinxi. 156

“Yeah, sometimes, on occasion,” said Salem. 157

“Was it really because he was called heartless?” Jinxi asked, looking at Salem. Liana closed her eyes, listening, waiting for an answer. The guys looked at each other, slightly hesitant.158

“Well, yeah. I mean he is technically heartless,” sighed Salem. 159

“Vampires, it’s sad to be one. I always read stories about them. They were alone, cold, misunderstood, and called heartless. I wondered how they were heartless, to only find that it was because their heart is dead, and because they can never truly love,” said Stella. 160

Liana looked up at her. He can’t love, and he’s heartless? she thought. 161

“They stalk in the night because they burn in the light of day, at least that was what is believed. I found that vampires can go in the light, they just lose all abilities a vampire consist of, and their teeth, turn to normal canines. People believed vampires burned in the light because they couldn’t see them, yet a curse made them human, whenever the sun rose,” said Stella looking down. 162

Most of the kids there never really heard much about vampires. They had heard the facts Stella were claiming to be false, so they listened carefully, and seemed quite interested. 163

“What else?” asked Jinxi, sitting Indian style on the floor.164

Adrian and Salem both sat up, their backs against the beds’ headboard. Stella looked up at them from her seat at the foot of her bed. She let out a deep sigh.165

“You really want to hear more?” she asked. 166

“Yeah,” they all answered looking at her.167

Liana got up and walked over to Jinxi and Salem and took a seat on the floor. The boards were cold, and the air seemed heavy. A little trickle of light just barely seemed to peak its way through the thick, dusty glass, and heavy cloth blinds. All was quiet as they waited for the rest of the story.168

“Like what?” asked Stella. 169

“Well, are they really both dead and alive?” asked Jinxi. 170

“Yes, in most cases a vampire is both part of the living and the dead. But there are a few exceptions, if you are given a trinket from a vampire, something they held very near and dear to them. This allows a person to be both full human yet vampire. No one ever thought that it was possible, but it’s them passing down the blood line, although it may not seem that way. It was an easy way to continue the vampire peoples without in the older days, villagers knowing. Some once they die, have chosen to make a pact with the devil himself in which they chose to walk the earth as the dead, causing trouble and death as they go. Another way is through a painful curse. Through offering ones blood, and mixing it with jewelry, that person may say an old dead man’s curse. After they recite it they go through a whole transformation. They appear human, but certain things make them react and change. Unlike normal vampires also, they have a ‘true form’ which few can refer to seeing. But in all these ways, sadly many were killed, but others still roamed, some not even knowing they’re vampires.” answered Stella. 171

“Wow,” said Adrian, “I’ve known Fang for so long, but I never knew any of that.” “Yeah, it’s amazing what you find out when you read factional books, not fiction.” sighed Stella. “Anything else?” she asked. 172

“Hm… you know you guys can use your minds too,” said Jinxi, looking around. “Oh! Do vampires drink only human blood?” asked Salem. 173

“Fang doesn’t,” said Adrian nodding.174

Wow, I’m kind of guessing now that Fang is a vampire, thought Liana. I’m kind of slow I guess, she thought sighing. 175

“Vampires do drink human blood, but has actually become rare. You see vampires drink animal blood, but if they ever get the taste of human blood, it becomes an addiction.” said Stella. 176

“Why?” asked Liana, looking up. 177

“Vampires aren’t born with the taste of blood. They were human at one point, so when they need to get blood they use animals, but then other older vampires try to lure them towards human blood, which becomes an addiction. This is bad because the more they wait before they have human blood again, the more vicious and hungered they become and the more they age. A hundred year old vampire may look like the thirty year old self he or she died at, but if they’ve had human blood, and are lacking drinking it, they may start to look their actual age,” said Stella, looking off as if in a gaze. 178

“Are all vampires the same, cause I’ve only met maybe like three vampire,” said Salem. 179

“Hm…” thought Stella. “Well, no not all vampires are the same. They have different vampires from different cultures, then you have clans, and families, and stages,” answered Stella. 180

“Stages?” asked Jinxi. 181

“What is that?” asked Liana. 182

“Oh, vampire stages are well, kind of like the forms a vampire has before they become their ‘true form’, which is something few have seen, or at least have lived to tell. Each vampire has a true form, but they hide it from the world, unless they are power hungry,” said Stella. “We all technically have true forms, we all hide something from the world.” 183

Everyone looked down as she said this. 184

“Wow, you need to tell me what those books are you’re reading,” said Adrian laughing. 185

Stella looked at him and smiled, as Squishy came over with a glass of water. “Sure,” she smiled. 186

The grandfather clock then chimed, “Wow, ten o’ clock” said Salem. 187

“Should we look for Fang?” asked Jinxi. 188

The others looked at her. 189

“We’ll find him, but thanks,” smiled Salem and Adrian.190

Salem and Adrian stood and bid the girls goodnight. They walked over to the door, “Bye,” said Adrian. “See ya tomorrow,” laughed Salem, shutting the door. 191

“Is that stuff true?” asked Jinxi, looking up at Stella. 192

Stella looked at her, nodding. Liana looked up at her, Stella gave a calm yet soothing smile. Liana smiled back and pushed her hair from her face. Stella pulled the two ribbons from each side of her head, and her purple hair flowed over her shoulders. “Time for bed,” smiled Stella, picking up Squishy. She walked to her bed and tucked her penguin in. 193

Liana and Jinxi did the same. 194

“Inclates!” shouted Stella and Liana. They were clothed in beautiful gowns, and crawled into bed. 195

Jinxi walked over to the dresser and grabbed some pajamas to change into. 196

“It seems we’ve made some new friends,” smiled Stella, petting Squishy. 197

Jinxi and Liana looked at her then lied down.198

“Yeah,” smiled Liana and Jinxi, turning on their sides. 199

“Goodnight!” said Stella. 200

“Goodnight,” answered the other two. 201

They had turned the lights off and the moon was now the only source of light. Liana rolled over and looked at the ceiling. She watched as the stain glass window seemed to filter the moon and stars, and change the color of the midnight sky. She smiled and closed her eyes. As she relaxed she heard a tiny squeak. 202

“Squishy?” asked Liana sitting up. She looked over at Squishy but he and Stella were asleep. Liana looked over at Jinxi, but she had also fallen asleep. 203

The door then started to jostle. Liana’s gaze quickly looked towards the door. Someone or something was apparently trying to get in. Liana stood up, finger ready. “What is with the creeps in the middle of the night?” Liana mumbled. She walked closer towards the door, but the door knob stopped moving. Liana breathed slowly and quietly as she listened for any other noises. She waited for a minute or two but nothing happened. Liana shrugged and walked back over to her bed. She lied down and looked back up at the stain glass window. The door started to jostle again. Liana quickly sat up and tiptoed over to the door. She took a deep breath reached out to the doorknob. She opened the door and found a little black kitten. 204

“Aw!” she said, looking down at the kitten. 205

The little kitten closed its eyes and meowed up at her. 206

“You’re no threat!” she said picking the little kitten up. “Do you have an owner?” Liana asked the kitten. 207

The little cat looked up at her, smiled, and meowed. 208

“Aw!” said Liana again, rubbing her nose against the kittens. Liana held the kitten to her chest, looked both ways down the halls, and closed the door with her foot. 209

“You’re so cute,” said Liana stroking the kitten’s ears. 210

“Meow,” said the little kitten in delight. There was no collar or tag around the kitten’s neck. 211

“You have no owner?” asked Liana again. 212

The kitten looked up at her, with a sad face. 213

“Aw!” she said, placing the kitten on her bed. 214

“Want me to be your owner?” Liana asked, sitting down on her bed. 215

The kitten looked up at her, smiled, and meowed. 216

“Yeah?” asked Liana laying down. Liana closed her eyes. Her eyes quickly opened when she felt something climbing on her. The little kitten crawled from the end of the bed and up to Liana’s face. The little kitten popped its head out from under the blanket and nestled his face near hers. Liana smiled as the cat curled up into a ball. 217

“You wanna name?” asked Liana, giggling. 218

The kitten looked up at her and meowed. 219

“Um, how about Buzz?” asked Liana. 220

The cat looked up at her, its head tilted. 221

“I got it Chaos!” said Liana, betting its little belly. 222

“Meow!” the little cat smiled up at her. 223

Liana closed her eyes, and the little cat purred gently. Chaos and Liana drifted off to sleep nose to nose. 224

Liana woke up to a soft purr. She opened her eyes, but saw no Chaos. She felt something atop her head and looked up to see Chaos curled up in a ball. 225

“Aw!” said Liana, lifting the cat off her head as she sat up. “Your so cute,” she said. 226

The kitten smiled and meowed. Liana made a face while she rubbed behind Chaos’ ears. 227

“You’re so cute, yes you are,” said Liana, rubbing Chaos’ cute little belly. 228

Stella woke up and rubbed her eyes. Squishy yawned and plopped himself onto the floor. Liana continued to play with Chaos while Squishy waddled over. 229

“Hi,” smiled Liana, picking Squishy up. 230

“What do you have?” asked Stella, rubbing her eye. 231

“I found a kitten,” said Liana smiling. 232

“That’s cool,” said Stella, walking towards Liana’s bed. Stella quietly walked past, making sure not to wake Jinxi up. 233

Liana curled her legs up and Stella took a seat on the bed. She looked down a Chaos and started to pet his little head. 234

“He is adorable,” said Stella. 235

“Oh, so you think it looks like a he also?” asked Liana, looking up. 236

“Yeah,” said Stella, “You can tell by his mischievous eyes.”237

Chaos looked up at her and smiled. He then rolled back over on this stomach and started to play with Squishy. 238

“They look so happy,” said Stella. 239

“Yeah,” said Liana, watching the two chase each other around on the soft bed. Jinxi woke up at blinked twice when she saw what was happening. “Is that a kitten?” she asked. 240

“Yup,” said Stella. 241

“A kitten!” screamed Jinxi, pouncing over, her ears perked up. She started to play with the kitten and purr and pet his ears. Jinxi laughed as it put up its little paws and lied on his back. “I know feels good, right?” asked Jinxi. “So what’s his name?” she asked, looking at Stella and Liana. 242

“His name is Chaos, but you think it’s a boy too?” asked Liana. 243

“Yeah, I can tell,” said Jinxi. The room went quiet then they all laughed. “He is adorable!” said Jinxi rubbing her nose against his. 244

Chaos’ little stomach made a rumbling noise and he meowed. 245

“Aw, you hungry?” asked Liana, Stella, and Jinxi. 246

Stella mumbled something, and a bottle of what looked like warm milk appeared. She put the bottle in front of his little face and he started to drink from it. He started to paw at it, and in the end, he was lying on his back with the bottle between his paws. 247

“He is so cute!” the girls all said staring at Chaos. 248

Squishy looked at them and rolled his little eyes. Squishy waddled over to Stella’s bed and found a red ball. He took it out with his flipper and started to play with it. The girls said “Aw,” Squishy proudly smiled, then realized that the girls were not saying “aw” to him.249

Chaos was playing with a ball of yarn, “That’s so…Adorable!” shouted Jinxi, Liana, and Stella. 250

Chaos looked up at them confused. 251

“Should we start making breakfast before they come over?” asked Jinxi.252

“Sure, why not get a head start,” Liana laughed. 253

Stella smiled and both her and Jinxi got up. 254

“Inclates!” shouted Liana and Stella. 255

Jinxi got dressed while Liana and Stella made their beds. Chaos hopped onto Liana’s head, as she went to fold over the corner where he was lying. Liana looked up and smiled. She continued to make the bed. The girls all finished and Stella made the door. The girls walked in and started to discuss what to make for breakfast. As they debated, Liana walked towards the refrigerator, grabbed a small bowl , and poured some milk for Chaos. He looked up at Liana, smiled and then started to drink some milk. 256

“Um, how about crepes?” asked Liana, turning around. 257

“That sounds good,” smiled Stella. 258

“Mm-hmm,” smiled Jinxi, licking her lips. 259

“Squishy,” called Stella. 260

Squishy waddled in, his head down. 261

“Would you mind getting some ingredients for me?” asked Stella. 262

Squishy looked up at her happily and gave a smile. He waddled over to the refrigerator and started to get the fruit that Stella had asked for. Jinxi once again set the table, while Liana got together a beautiful array of fresh fruits to go with the crepes. Stella started to make the outer pancake part, and Squishy brought over the other fruit Stella asked for. 263

“Thank you,” she beamed down at him. 264

He closed his little eyes, and held his little flippers together. Stella smiled and continued to cook. The smell swirled through the air, Liana closed her eyes and took in a deep whiff of the sizzling fruit. 265

“They should enjoy this,” smiled Liana, 266

“Yeah, it smells good,” added Jinxi. 267

Stella turned the fire off on the stove and moved the crepes onto a glass plate. She made two dozen, not knowing how many people were coming or how big an appetite the boys had. She laid them out on the table, and Liana did the finishing touches on her fruit masterpiece. There was a knock on the door. 268

“Right on time,” said Liana, looking at the other two. Liana walked to the door, she walked outside and saw the guys standing there. Liana moved aside and the others walked in. 269

Adrian and Salem smiled as they walked in, Fang on the other hand was expressionless. Liana looked down at the floor, shut the door, and followed behind them. “Smells good!” shouted Salem, smiling. 270

“Yeah, smells good,” repeated Adrian. 271

They took a seat and Liana went and grabbed her fruit basket from the counter. She placed it on the table and took a seat. 272

“We expecting anymore guest?” Jinxi asked. 273

“Well, you never know,” said Adrian laughing. 274

Fang looked up and smiled. 275

Liana started thinking about what Stella had said the previous night. 276

“You ok?” Adrian asked, looking at her. 277

“Oh, yeah,” answered Liana, zoning back in. 278

“Oh, I meant to ask when I came in, why is there a kitten over there?” asked Adrian. 279

“Oh, I forgot, that is Chaos,” said Liana, smiling. She looked over at Chaos and he meowed happily. 280

“I forgot he was even in here, he is so quiet,” Liana started to laugh. 281

The others also laughed and Salem stared at the cat. 282

“Awesome name, he is a black cat, kind of rare actually,” said Salem.283

Chaos smiled at him, hopped up from the floor onto the table and started to walk over to him. He purred as he rubbed against Salem’s arm. 284

“Aw, someone finally loves you,” laughed Adrian. 285

“Thanks,” said Salem, looking up at Adrian. He scooped Chaos up in his arms and let him paw at his hair. 286

“Guess he likes orange,” said Stella smiling. 287

“Yeah, you two are Halloween colors,” laughed Jinxi. 288

Everyone laughed, as they watched the two play with each other. Everyone ate the crepes and had some fruit, “It’s good,” everyone complemented. 289

Stella and Liana happily smiled at each other. The kitten made its way back over to Liana and hopped onto her shoulder. There was another knock on the door, “I’ll get it,” said Liana, letting the others talk. She opened the door, and saw the teacher that had changed their room. 290

“Hello,” said the woman. 291

“Hello,” replied Liana back, smiling. 292

“I see everything is doing well, so I see no reason to come in, enjoy what smells like a delicious breakfast,” she smiled. 293

“Thank you,” said Liana almost bowing her head. 294

The woman smiled again and walked away. As the woman turned, Liana’s heart sank to the bottom of her stomach. There stood Claudia and the twins. 295

“Thanks,” said Claudia, striding in, the twins came in behind her and Liana sadly shut the door. 296

Please help me begged Liana, staring up at the ceiling. 297

Liana took in a deep breath and walked back into the dining room. The new guest had already taken a seat and gotten homely. Yeah just invite yourselves in thought Liana, sitting down. 298

“Are you ok, I missed you,” said Claudia, looking at Fang. “You had me worried sick!” she said, grabbing Fang’s arm. “You can’t do that to me, I love you to much!” she said. Fang looked down at her. 299

“I’m sorry,” he said. 300

“Aw,” said Claudia, putting her head on Fang’s arm. 301

“It’s to early in the morning for this,” Adrian mumbled to Salem. 302

Salem looked at him, and tried to hold in from bursting out hysterical. Chaos looked over at Claudia, and his eyes gleamed. 303

“I’m guessing that Stella made breakfast,” snickered Claudia, looking at the food. Liana and Jinxi looked at each other, trying to hold each other from lunging at Claudia and ringing her neck. They both took a deep breath in and then out. 304

“What a cute cat,” said Claudia, looking at Chaos. 305

Chaos looked at her and hopped down from Liana’s shoulder, running into the other room. 306

“Well, anyway, I only came to make sure that you were ok, Fang,” said Claudia getting up. 307

The twins smiled at each other and also got up. Claudia walked out and they followed, closely behind. Salem and Adrian raised an eyebrow as they walked out. They all quietly waited a minute or two until they heard the door click shut. 308

“That was an oddly short visit,” said Adrian, looking at Salem. 309

“Yeah,” Salem agreed, “That’s not a good thing.” 310

They all talked for a while and Squishy came over to Stella. 311

“Oh, I forgot let me go get Chaos, he must be lonely in there by himself” smiled Liana. She walked into the bedroom. “Chaos,” called Liana. 312

Nothing happened and Chaos did not come. 313

“Chaos?” called Liana, again. Liana quickly ran into the dining room, afraid. “I think she stole Chaos!” she exclaimed. 314

The others stared at her, shock on their faces. Salem and Adrian looked at each other and shook their heads. 315
