**HEARTLESS CHOICE **2

Rocking in my rocking chair I think to myself, of times gone3

by..It seems like only yesterday, I was out half the night 4

dancing...This old girl,really could kick up her heels now5

that thought made this old lady laugh..But, dang I could 6

really dance. ha,ha.7

I have to be careful about laughing they may think I've lost 8

it or as my daughter would say, gone nuts..You know so many9

of us get mistreated ,because of getting on in the years..10

Oh hell, not just getting on in the years just plain getting 11

old.12

They think we should be put out to the pasture because we 13

are up in age..Our children ,the little ingrates they forget 14

who brought them in this world..They also forget who can 15

take them out ha, ha.16

They forget who loved them took care of them...Now they say17

Mom, will come visit you soon ok? Do you have a couple 18

hundred ,so we can get by this month?..We sure would like a 19

big swimming pool, Mom...20

The, kids will be getting out of school in June it would be 21

so nice for them if we only had the money to buy that 22

pool..Guess, they think this old lady ,cant catch a hint or 23

she's senile...What they dont know is im ignoring their 24

hint...Trying to make me feel guilty... Well, if that isn't 25

the turkeys trot, they should be so ashamed.26

Soon, they will come visit me they say. I, wonder what soon 27

means to them next year?...No wait! I, forgot they need more28

money this month..They'll be here soon..My grandbabies 29

ahhhh,they make this old ladies heart feel like she has done 30

something right.31

They take their Granny ,for walks around the flower 32

garden..They pick a flower and say so happily here Granny,33

for you...I love you Granny...Well, look who just pulled 34

up...Slap my knees, It's the whole carload they are here to 35

visit me..36

Now, Im sitting here rocking in my rocking chair on my front 37

porch. Watching my grandbabies play in the yard, saying look 38

Granny, see me jump look Granny, Im picking you a pretty 39

flower...My daughter is making her hubby a sandwich, they 40

are in the house, they must think I have a hearing problem 41

because they are talking loud ,like I can't hear them..42

They, are saying It's time to send her away...We, have to find 43

a home for her...she's getting too old to stay here by 44

herself...She'll burn the house down ,making a cup of 45

tea...Ohhh, how I want to slap her little smart mouth, but 46

I'm, too stunned to get out of this chair.47

Did ya see her today ,sitting in that rocker just laughing 48

away? Ahhh, I'll tell you I have a life to live..Im sure 49

not gonna spend it taking care of her...One, thing I don't 50

need is another child, to take care of...Well ,slap my knees 51

Well, Sam hill I'm not a child.. I'm an old lady..Don't they 53

think an old woman can have feelings?...Im their mother...I54

love them, why did they stop loving me? Because I'm old?55

I'm a bother to her ahhh, that hurts this old woman..So I 56

shout,just go home let me be..I, don't need you to come 57

Grandbabies, your Granny loves you don't ever forget that... 59

Their sweet little hands waving bye to me from the car we 60

love you Granny...I'll be back next week Mother!...61

Here, I sit rocking in my chair with a suitcase next to me 62

Waiting, for them to take me to my new home...One ,where they 63

sit in stare at a TV..One, where nobody goes out to get fresh 64

No more hugs from, little sweet hands...No more walks, around 66

the flower garden..No, more flowers ,with I love you Granny.. 67

This is one ,sad old lady...I love you my children..Sorry I'm68

old and you don't want me anymore.69

My heart feels like it's breaking...Just want you to know, 70

you can buy your big, swimming pool now...Don't give a 71

thought about me ...After, all I'm just your mother..Make 72

sure, my grandchildren remember me..Go now get in your big 73

can't be that feeble. I didn't forget how to spell my 85

pool you traded me in for it...Remember, make sure my 90
