Memories Forgotten

I was reading a book when it happened. “Tap,Tap” He looked up into a face so familiar that it scared him. Its eyes were blue ,and hair Bleach Blonde. A frightening combination after what it put him through. It was staring with contempt.1

“Hello,” 'It' Said.2

“Hi,” He replied.3

“I'm Brittany, You are?”4

“Um, Leo....”5

“Oh. You looked lonely so I took it upon myself to say hi.” She said rather awkwardly.6

He just stared at this girl pretending not to know him. As if he would forget being kidnapped (as far as he knew) ,left without his memory, and to top it all off being dropped on his head! “Do I know you from somewhere?”7

Something in her face harden as he said this. A slight slip in her mask of a face told him she was annoyed , and what was that regretful? “No, I just moved here.” She said coldly8

“Oh, you look like someone I know or, well knew sort of.”He said making sure every word was a s harp as a dagger ,or was to him.9

Suddenly she was bubbly again ,and smiling. “ Well anyways I was looking for a friend ,instead I found you!”10

He didn't know how to quite take that. What the Hell he thought.11

“Okay....”12

She seemed to notice his hesitation. “ Oh No! I have to go. Ugh I m gonna be late! Bye!”13

She sprinted off down the street waving as she went.14

Wait! He wanted to call stop lying to me! Tell me its you... In his frustration he ran after her.15

To his dismay when he ran in the direction she was gone. Uh he though I forgot she could do that.16

Stupid Mystery Brittany. Wait! Her name is Shaye! What memories he still had flew through his mind like a slide show. Her and the secret group she worked for, The Shear. They all were made to fit in not beautiful but made to fit in except Shaye. They were deadly though, they were the silent death you never dreamed of ,but he did.17

Disgruntled he walked back to his Aunt Lori's House. It was only two blocks away from the unnaturally green park he had be resting in at the time. He thought about the events of a year ago from his waking up in a alley, 'kidnapped', being told none of it happened, and then also told who his family was. Most of it he had blocked over the last year ,or so. He looked up and down “Sunny Street” as he skipped up the steps to his aunt's yellow with white trim house. He remembered the first time he saw it ,and how he focused on the wind chime hanging over the porch with their strings being blown in the wind.; it had been the windiest day he could remember...18

“Hey, Leo. How are you today? I just got home from the store,”His aunt said exuberantly. She was apparently from his father's side ,and had not seen her brother for years other than the occasional phone call.19

I sighed, “Its been okay. I guess.”20

“You don't seem very excited,” She commented.21

“You got me,” I replied sidestepping her. I slipped up the stairs before she could say anything else.22

I heard her sigh when I got to the top .23

“Dinner will be done in about half an hour,” She called up. I heard her but it didn't register. I had opened my door ,and immediately seen the frowning figure on my bed. I hastily closed the door.24

Turning I hissed, “What are you doing here again so soon!?” Shaye just turned her head a degree or so raising her eyebrows.25

“What not happy to see me?” There was no way not to agree with this statement so I shut up.26

“To answer your question. I could not grab you in the middle of a park ,and have you yell at me if you happen to remember me. As you see it was a good idea.” She paused for a breath.27

“How much do you know about me,” I asked her grinding my teeth.28

“That depends on whether not you come with or without a fight.” Shaye answered matter-of-a factly 29

“What! I am not going anywhere again. I almost got killed last time! Besides we both know I can't fight you.” I stated30

“Exactly.” She replied grinning. Oh no I thought. I knew that smile, I swore under my breath. I held out my hands. “Lets Go.”31

She blindfolded me ,and I knew where we were going right away. Fun times I thought to myself.33

“Aw, Your taking me to Maui again!”34

“Ha ha your so funny.” She said dryly.35

“Open your mouth,now.” She ordered.36

“No.”37

“ Its this way or with a needle.”She warned me.38

“ Fine.” I opened my mouth a centimeter immediately a pill was in my throat; I swallowed it. The darkness soon took over my brain ,and I was out.39

When I woke up the blindfold was off ,but I knew where I was. I pushed myself off the bed I had been lying on. To my left there was a small nightstand with a vase of flowers. Next to it was a florist card;I walked over turning it over in my hands it read:'Welcome Back'. I crushed it in my hands. Tears threatened my eyes. Instead I turned toward the small cordless phone on the nightstand.40

“Walter, I'm ready” I said into the phone.41

“Shaye will come and get you,” He replied in a gruff voice. The line went dead. Well he hasn't changed much I thought to myself.42

“Nothings changed,”Someone said as if reading my thoughts. I whirled around to see Shaye standing at my door. I frowned.43

“I thought we decided I didn't want you doing that last time I was here.” Shaye just shook her head as if I had no idea. She was dressed in her usual slacks ,and tee shirt ,but somehow it looked better on her than it could on anyone else in the world. 44

“So why am I here,” I said finally knowing it was coming anyway.45

“Jack thought it was time to tell you...”46

“Tell me what?,” I demanded. Jack their leader rarely told anyone anything47

The look in her eyes just about stunned me, remorse? “The truth about the past.”48

She leaned off the door frame. “Come On.”49

I followed her through the familiar narrow halls decorated to resemble a hotel. Jack's office was at the end of the largest hall behind two large mahogany doors. They opened inward into a sleek black office was the best way I could describe it. See they didn't really open into but actually go up like those fancy car doors. Thats just how jack was; odd.50

“Jack,” I said acknowledging his presence.51

“Leo, its been too long!” He said with a lively smile. 52

“Hardly, It just been about a year.” I said coldly53

He frowned, “Your not gonna make this easy are you?”54

I smiled, “I think thats the last question Shaye asked last time I held her acquaintance.”55

This drew another frown to my pleasure. “Very Well.”56

“Your name Is Leo Shaye. You were born to Melanie Shaye ,and Josh Shaye. They both work for Shear. About two years ago they disappeared in Russia.”57

I froze,they knew my parents? What else did they know about my until now unknown life. 58

“Oh and you have worked and trained for Shear you Whole life.”59

I decided now was a good time to take a seat despite my instincts to jump back and run as far as possible from this room as I could. “Jack how well do you know me?”60

Jack sighed, since when did jack sigh? “I know you better than maybe anyone except than Shaye.”61

“Shaye?,” I said turning to look at the girl now glaring at Jack.62

“That was a long time ago.” She said stiffly. I nodded in agreement, “Most Likely.” 63

“Jack, Can I please leave,” She asked. 64

“No, this is about all of us,” Jack replied.
