Quotes that could change the world

These are little messages etc. that are floating around in my head, some are simply quotes I like, some I have made up myself.1

They are all designed to be inspirational, and they all carry a deep meaning. I hope you like them, nd find the deeper meaning behind there words, as I did.2

Quotes to make a difference:3

“I said: ‘There is little point in worrying about something you can do nothing about.’4

To which, he said: ‘But by realising it, you are taking the first step in fixing it.’ 5

My reply: ‘That is about as useful as a piece of driftwood realising that it is floating in the sea. We cannot simply cast aside society – we helped create it, we are irrevocably linked to it, and no matter how much we may criticise it, we cannot escape from it. Like the driftwood on the sea, we are floating down a river, caught up in the current. The real question is: can we gather enough driftwood to dam the river?’ 6

A man was walking down a beach littered with starfish one day, when he saw an old man who was stopping, bending down, straightening, and starting again in a peculiar rythm. He stopped to see what the old man was doing, and saw that he was picking up starfish and throwing thme back into the sea. Amazed, he asked:7

"But why are you doing that? You can't possibly make even a tiny difference with so many stranded!"8

The old man paused at this. He reached down, grabbed a starfish, and threw it into the sea.9

"Well, I sure made a difference to that one," he said, and carried on down the beach.10

Quotes to help:11

“When do you stop? If the boundaries are limitless, at what point is ‘too far’? When is it time to say ‘I could do this, but I won’t, because the only reason I want to do it is simply because I can?’”12

There is an exception to every rule. The trouble is realising what to do when you find that exception.13

There is no limit to help. You can give money to charity, and not have enough to feed you family. You can give shelter to a million animals and simply run out of room. But you can help with every inch of your being, for every single second of the day, and never feel your well of compassion even begin to start running dry.14

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.15

Philosophical quotes:16

Have you never wondered what it's like to be17

Truly free?18

For I have wondered, and I have seen19

So tell me now20

What does 'free' really mean?21

"Existence creates its opposite. Without light, we would have no darkness, without despair, we would not know what hope was, and without wrong, we would have nothing to show us what was right."22

I find it rather funny that the resource we created is the one we are most willing to live by. It is not water, earth or light that we rule our existence with, in fact it isn't even anything we can eat, drink, admire for its beauty or use as shelter. And yet, we live our lives under its rule. Sometimes, it makes you wonder.23
