Amber put a "X" in the dust right infront of the entrance to the tower. "Come on lets go in." Amber disappered behind the tapestry. Kyle ran in behind her. From the corridor Lydia heard Kyle run into Amber and Amber hit something. "Oww Kyle you pushed me against a...a door." Amber said in wonder. Lydia walked into the short hallway with a candle. Amber tried to open the door. "Darn it's locked. We need to get the key." Lydia backed up to get back out into the corridor. "Amber, Kyle come on lets go. it's getting late." Amber and Kyle came out again. "Where's Derek?" Amber asked looking up and down the hallway. "Oh My God! Where is he?!" Lydia said paniced. She leaned against the wall and statred to cry. She went into fetal postion. There was a tromping coming down the stairs. Lydia ignored it and kept her head between her knees on the ground. She felt someone do down next to her. "It's ok Lyds I'm here." Lydia's head snapped up and she looked into Derek's eyes. "Derek!" She said giving him a hug. "I thought something bad had happened to you." Derek laughed and shook his head. "I thought I saw someone in a tree so i went to an upstairs window to check it out. Then when I got to the window the light sort of fell to the ground. I don't know what to make of it." They all climbed out of the house and started to walk down to road. After walking a few feet Amber spotted a flashlight that was turned on. It made an eerie glow on the puddles in front of it. "Ok?" Derek said. As they kept walking they found someone lying in the mud. It was Samantha. She got up. "umm. Hi guys. I ummm just fell from a tree. Umm I was sorta uhh watching you. Not trying to be stalker or nothing. Soo uhh what ya doing?" Sam said he eyes bloodshot. She was the freak of the high school. "We are going home Sam." Amber said really slowly so she could understand. She stood up and brushed herself off. "Okay! Lets go." 1
Nobody walked next to Sam. They all clustered together. Derek and Lydia went to Lydia's house. Amber and Kyle walked into Amber's house next door. Sam followed Amber and Kyle into her house without even asking. "Go away you freak!" Amber screamed at Sam shoving her out the door and slamming it in her face. Sam walked home all alone. 2
At 6:30 in the morning everyone but Sam gathered at the house and they went in. "Where is the key to the tower? Do you know? We need help." Derek told the spirit. In the dust the spirit wrote, "In a place that should be full of geeks. The thing thats there is what you seek." Amber looked at the message puzzled. "What the heck!" She screamed. "What is a place full of geeks?" Kyle looked at her. "A library?" He asked. Lydia looked at him with bright eyes. "The Study!" She ran into the study and took the only book off the desk. She fipped it open and grabed the key. "I found it!" She ran back into the short hallway to the tower and opened the door.3
Anthony heard a sucking sound and he was suddenly in his room. "What happened?" he asked. Logan wasn't there. A tear brimmed over his eye. Logan was his only friend. He heard footsteps outside his room. His door opened and he saw a light. Mesmerized, he walked towards it and saw his parents. He ran to them. He was finally free.4
Lydia walked into the room. "It smells like rotten flesh in here. AS she talked Derek lifted a floor board. "That because that's what used to be here." He said looking under the floorboards at the skeleton of a boy and a cat. Lydia cried a little. "Poor things. They weren't properly buried." She shivered and she saw him. "Ahh. I can see him." Then she felt insane. She heard him say. "Thank you I am now free because you solved my riddle." Anthony kissed Lydia's cheek and Lydia grew still." Derek went to her side. "Hey I can see him too." Dereks hand floated up and went up and down. Anthony was shaking his hand. The room grew warm again as the spirit left limbo. Derek took Lydia's hand and took out his cell phone. He called 911 for the police. "Hello, Yes We are at the house on top of the hill and we have found the body of a boy child." Derek said into the phone. He hung up and the gathered outside as the cruisers pulled up. Anthony could finally rest in peace.5
