Mother Moose

As an English teacher I was always looking for humorous ways to teach children grammar concepts.  I felt they would remember the bizarre absurd examples better than the dull and mundane.  When teaching prepositions one of my students told me prepositions were anything a mouse did.  I immediately thought of tiny mouse droppings, but soon caught onto the student's explanation.  Like in the Mother Moose stories.  I said.  She looked at me dumbfounded and I went on to tell her about the mouse that ran up the dress.  She was obviously not very literate since she had never heard of Moother Moose.  That afternoon was the first of many conversations with my principal about what was considered appropriate and inappropriate.1

Of course Poor Mother Moose never did get the notoriety of Mother Goose. I don't see why cutting up her son to get a golden egg gave Mother goose any more right to noteriety than Mother Moose deserves. Mother Moose's style is hauntingly beautiful in its spare terse verse.  The tricolon parallelism is perhaps the finest use of syntactic schemes in the English language.  But rather than critique her work,  I will quote one of her memorable poems.  This of course was the poem I alluded to in my English class long ago, that caused me so much consternation.  I hope you like the poem.  2

Damn Premature Imagination16

I don't know how those writers of erotica ever make it through a long poem. I can never make it through two verses, before imaginating all over myself.  Sorry Mother Moose I will attempt to do justice to your reputation when I recover my libido I mean my muse.17

Author notes

The inspiration for Mother Moose occured reading 300 miles by Yemassee, and Yem bob Whim bob by Yemassee and Sithlelisa. They suck as muses but they really are great writers.
