The Lady or The Tiger?

Walking to the two doors felt a lifetime for the lover, and the only thing on his mind was if his princess was leading him to the right fate. Of course she is, she loves me. But, what if…. He could not finish the thought. When, finally, he got to the door he let out a breath he did not remember holding. Reaching, with one last thought of his love, he opened the door on the right. In the darkened gap, in what held his fate, there came an ominous growl. His body went dead cold as he stared in to the last eyes he was ever to see again. No sound left his lips, as the tiger pounced, no ear-splitting shriek of horror, no gasp, nothing. He wanted to yell; yell for all the hate he had toward her that moment. The tiger ripped its teeth into the young man’s throat. His last breath turned into him, gulping his blood into his lungs. The tiger slashed at its prey, ripping deeper and deeper to the bone. His neck was snapped in half from the tremendous strength of the jaws rapped around his neck. He was dead before he smashed to the ground with the shattering of his ribs from the beast atop him.1

Watching this gruesome event and hearing the victorious roar of the tiger, the bloodless faced princess could not take her eyes away. Why did I do this? I do not want this to happen. I want it to stop. I want…. Her brain went numb and she realized her entire body was numb from the scene. She felt the tears building and blurring her vision till they streamed down her face. After countless moments that felt like hours she finally gave a sidelong glance at her father, then openly stared. The smile that barely upturned his lips, and the glint in his eyes were enough to make anyone lick their lips from nervousness, but when she did, she was surprised to find her mouth had gone dry. She wanted very much to sick up that very moment from that smile and the scene below, but something caught her eye. A black cloud seemed to fly by the sun that moment and when she looked closer, the princess saw that it was not a cloud, but a flock of ravens, circling the amphitheatre, already on the scent of fresh meat.2

Author notes

Everyone remembers the Short Story, "The Lady or The Tiger?". It is about men who are sentenced to their "pit" to choose a gorgeous woman, the lady, or a ferocious beast, the tiger. The story ends before the reader knows which door the lover of the princess makes. I've given my own opinion to what should have happened.
