It wasn't fair, Chi decided as she swung back and forth on the swing at the Park. Chi watched with a feeling of awe as two girls chased a ball across the grass; they looked like they were having fun. 1
Feeling a bit of air sickness; from a few different things, Chi jumped off of the swing and headed towards the lower section of the Park.2
"Why am I so shy when it comes to the other kids at school?" Chi mumbled to herself sadly. She kicked up some dirt and stopped in her tracks. "Huuuh!? Where am I!?" Chi looked around desperately in search of something she recognized. She caught a glimpse of tin through the trees on her left and paced slowly towards it.3
Pushing through the last of the branches, Chi found herself in front of a small tin shed. The sun that was streaming through the treetops reflected on it brightly and shone in her eyes.4
"Maybe there is someone inside," Chi told herself as she opened the squeaking door. Scanning the shed quickly she sighed, "No-one..."5
Turning to leave Chi heard a loud crash. She fell on the floor holding her hand neat her chest and was even more surprised to see a small cat staring blankly at her. It seemed the cat was chasing a mouse and had rammed into a bucket.6
"A-Are you hungry?" Chi asked timidly as she pulled some bread out of her skirt's pocket. She watched as the cat approached and began eating out of her hand. A smile spread across her face and she spoke, "I think I'll mane you Gimpy!" Gimpy meowed in approval.7
Shortly after Gimpy lead Chi out of the trees and up towards the swing set again. "Bye~!" Chi shouted and the two parted ways, heading back to their homes.8
Day after day Chi visited Gimpy, feeding him and taking care of him, but Sunday two weeks later had something different in store for them.9
"GIMPY!?" Chi cried through the rain; she had been searching for the small cat for quite some time now. Chi was cold, wet and smelled of wet rat, but she would not stop until she had found her dear friend.10
A low growl sounded from behind the tin shed. Chi peeked around and froze with terror. There stood a large dog towering over the quivering figure of.... a cat. Chi instantly knew it was Gimpy and began to cry. A dog... The creature Chi feared the most. She held her sleeve and clenched her teeth, "I...I will not allow anyone to harm my dear friend!!!!"11
In a flash of tears and rain Chi stood with arms held out in front of the dog. "I'm telling you to s-scram!"12
Without a second thought the dog dashed off into the bushes and Chi turned to Gimpy, falling on her knees. "Are you alright...?" Chi asked with great concern. Gimpy rubbed against Chi and purred as if to tell her yes.13
The rain soom began to clear up and the birds began to sing. Chi lifted up Gimpy and carried him home.14
"Yes, you can."15
Chi smiled and higged Gimpy as they got Chi's Mother's approval. Chi whispered into Gimpy's ear, "You'll be living with me now. I promise to always be by your side."16
