Margaret- Sonnet

When night has fallen deep the path is dark 1

and steps may be uncertain that we trod,2

when troubles toss the heart and hope seems stark3

He says, 'Be still and know that I am God'.4

The beacons on the journey are not few;5

for those who seek it is no mystery6

that they are placed with care to guide us through,7

illuminating life's epiphanies.8

Her poetry, it lit the path ahead9

as if by some divine and warming ray.10

By lines of graceful wisdom I was led11

to see, with clearer eyes, a peaceful way.12

A gentle beam of goodness through the night;13

her spirit is a beacon of His light.14

A poem I know BarbaraG or NancyP or whatever her name is will appreciate, not only the subject matter but the sentiment. How wonderful to be called a "gentle beam of goodness" (I was called, "Mostly harmless" once.)It's a wonderful poem and I'm sure PenelopeC loves not only the poem but your kindness.

I recognized the poems you received your inspiration from. This is a wonderful sonnet. I am so hoping to get the iambic part down before too long. Reading yours and Magarets work is a good place to begin learning. A beautiful sonnet tribute.

As a postscript, your background is perfect, I cannot see a rose without desiring to smell it.

    Hi Mary,
Your acknowledgement of the deep respect and friendship Margaret has provided you with is both touching and very obviously sincere. I couldn't agree more, for there have been many occasions in the brief time I have known her that she has been like a beacon of wisdom to me personaly, as well.

As always, your form, rhyme and meter are well done and I offer high praise and applause.

    s,

    Del

    sonnet perfection

Dear Mary, this is graceful and lovely, and I'm very grateful to have been one of the lights for you. I in turn must acknowledge the people who were lights for me, my counseller Wanda, and my AP friend Sea Angel, and the greatest light, whose brightness is beyond expression, Jesus. We can't get through life alone, all of us are leaders and followers.
