After breakfast the pair went their separate ways. Cyan was heading for the blacksmith’s shop to start on the order for the day. It no doubt was a big order. It usually was. The farmers in the town needing gardening tools mended or made and the nearby towns were needing swords and weapons for the war they said was on the horizon. 1
Cyan didn’t mind his new work. It wasn’t exactly the cleanest work and it required a lot more muscle than being a mage ever did. No more sitting around looking at spell books and magic guides for him. It was a nice change though, he thought. Different in a good way. Just what he needed to start his new life with. S2
He walked in and seen his master working on a garden hoe that someone had brought in and when he looked up from his work he started barking out things he needed to get done. Cyan smiled at him and hurried over to his station to get started on the long list.3
Meanwhile Gwen was trekking through the woods around the village making sure she knew the way to the place she was going to show Cyan. It was a beautiful ruin of a temple that had stood long, long ago. She didn’t know what the temple was for or who had built it but wondered if Cyan would know something. He was a smart man that Cyan. Always reading and gathering knowledge from things round him. She sometimes wondered if there was anything he didn’t know. Not only was he smart but he was strong and incredibly handsome. His face handsome like a scholars but his body built and hard like a warriors. 4
She sighed as she walked the path she had made a few days ago and smiled widely as she came upon the ruin. She walked over to a huge stone that had some kind of inscription written in a language she didn’t understand and a symbol like she had never seen before. She touched the stone gently with her fingers and wondered exactly what it all meant and what kind of secrets this place held. She sighed as she pulled her hand away and turned around heading back to the village thinking that she’d have to wait to unravel the secret till Cyan seen the place. Hopefully he could tell her something about it.5
About mid afternoon Cyan had his list almost completely finished and his master was so impressed with him that he let him have the rest of the day off. He smiled happily as he thanked him and ran out of the place relishing the cooler air of outside. He was covered in sweat from head to toe as well as coal dust from the fires. He needed a good bath and that’s exactly where he was heading. 6
He made it home a few moments later and fixed himself a cool bath before stripping of his dirty clothes and submerging himself in the tub. He sighed with satisfaction and closed his eyes as she sat there letting the water cool his burning skin. After he had relaxed a few moments he picked up a clean wash cloth and bathed the dirt and grime off of him. When he finally felt clean enough he got out of the tub and dressed in clean clothes before he went to find Gwen.7
Gwen was sitting outside of the tavern they had breakfast at waiting on him to get out of work. She was flirting with one of the regular patrons as she usually did. She never had any interest in the guys she was just a natural flirt and liked using her abilities on unsuspecting men. She smiled as she man stared at her like a star struck fool “Well I suppose I need to get going, my beau won’t be so happy to see me talking to you after all.” she said as she waved bye to him and stepped away from the tavern. She didn’t really have a beau but she thought that he was getting a little too interested and she needed to end the little flirt fest. As she was walking away from the tavern she happened to see Cyan walking towards her and her face lit up with a smile “You ready to see?” she asked as she took one of his hands in hers “I suppose so. Mind telling me what it is I’m seeing though?” he asked a she drug him towards the woods. Gwen giggled and shook her head “Nope, it’s a surprise.’ She said as she found the trail that she had made and followed it, with him in tow, all the way to the ruins. 8
When Cyan saw the ruins his eyes widened and his jaw dropped. He had never seen anything like them before. The stones were all covered in vines and vegetation and most of the walls and windows were over grown so you couldn’t see what was inside. The only thing that could be clearly seen was a huge stone that stood right outside. He walked over to it and looked at it curiously staring at the strange words and symbols wondering what they meant. “So mister smarty pants, can you read that? Gwen asked as she looked at the stone with him. Cyan shook his head “No, I’ve never seen anything like this before.” he said as he gently touched the stone and when he did he tensed as a familiar tingle of magic ran down his spine and out of his toes like electricity. It wasn’t good magic either. It felt like pure evil and Cyan got the feeling that they shouldn’t poke around there any longer. He removed his hand and looked around for Gwen seeing she was trying to peer inside “Gwen, I think we should get going. There’s something about this place that doesn’t sit well with me.” he said as he walked towards her “Don’t be such a chicken Cyan, there’s nothing here than can hurt you unless you prick you finger on a thorn or something.” she said as she continued to try and peek inside. “I’m serious Gwen we need to leave.” he said as he walked over beside her and he did he got a searing pain in his side where the scar resided and when he put his hand over it he felt something warm and sticky. He removed his hand and looked down to see blood pooling on his shirt and running down his side to his pants. 9
Gwen had heard him cry out and when she looked over she seen his hand covered in blood and her eyes widened “What happened?” she asked as she grabbed him since he looked like he was about to fall over. When she felt his skin he felt fevered and she noticed that his face was going pale. “Come on let’s get out of here.” she said wondering what had caused him such pain to to fall so Ill. 10
By the time she got him back to his house he could barely keep himself upright and he felt so fevered Gwen was sure he had come down with something. She lay him down on his bed and removed the shirt he had on to find a ugly rigid wound on his side that looked like it had been there for weeks. It was infected and running puss along with blood. She was horrified by it and went immediately to clean it up and try to get it to looking better. She only hoped she could stop the infection. that seemed to appear so rapidly, before it killed him.11
I know that my grammer sucks guys but editing was never my strong point and I want to know what you guys think of the idea of the story.
