Trying to decide between ice cream and doughnuts Alex, a heavyset middle-aged gentle man, notices an odd shape in the sky. This object must be hurling itself towards Earth at about two hundred mile per hour. He watches in absolute astonishment and forgets all about the junk food he thought he wanted. 1
“What in the...” he was cut off by a large clap of what seemed to be thunder. This sound is almost loud enough to break the glass in all the surrounding buildings. Ducking and running, he ran all the way to the local grocery store to find a phone. The clerk at the story obviously didn’t hear the horrific sound from outside. Out of breath Alex says, “Call…9…1…1...help...or...something.” Still watching out of the window he feels fear unlike he has ever felt. Watching the darkening sky he almost fainted and collapsed into a green plastic chair. Chaos and riots broke out on the streets. Stores being robbed, glass being shattered in cars and buildings, and even people trying to get all the money out of bank accounts. 2
A small child almost laughing at the adults around him look up at an old woman and said, “That isn’t anything to be afraid of, it’s only a over sized drop of rain.” Alex over hears the young boy telling the elder this and becomes very excited because he knows it must be true. Everyone stops at the sight of a two grown people dropping to their knees and trying to pray but all that can escape their mouths is hysterical laughter.3

Interesting plot
It's a story that gives you something to think about. I thought it was nicely written.

Very well written and enjoyable. Brought me a smile, so thanks! Enjoyed much!

Nice 'flash' fiction! I really loved the meaning of this story, it made me laugh and think at the same time. That's a hard task to do! ^^ I liked the little boy's line, it seemed to have more than one meaning to it. Pessimistic thoughts create havoc, but opomistic thoughts tend to make ppl laugh

This is funny. It proves that adults are overly exicted, I think that if everyone would just chill out a lot of things in this crazy would could be prevented. I really like this though. I was reading it thinking that it was going to be like the first episode of dead like me (the flaming toliet seat), but instead I found myself laughing at something that probably would have scared the beejeebees out of me. You have a very great imagination if you can come up with something like an oversize raindrop. I'm off to read more of your wonderful works.

Wow, very good hun, I liked it a lot. It's a modern day Chicken Little story
. "The sky is falling!!!" I liked your message behind this as well. It has a lot to say. Keep it up

hehe...the child only realizes because he doesn't get over excited..basically he isn't worried about the world ending like adults sometimes do...lol..i guess that was a -very- good question..sorry 'bout that...
