Behind the scenes there is a monster1
Who's desires are far beyond perverce.2
With drool dripping from the corners of his mouth3
He stares in wonder at his latest poetic verse.4
His eyes glisten as he imagines their reaction5
When they spot this bloody and merciless mess.6
He draws his mark upon the wall7
And leaves with a skip in his step.8
I wait my turn to observe the mangled body9
In hopes of finding evidence of her attacker. 10
With tool kit in hand, I enter the study11
Only to be stopped dead in my tracks by the stench.12
The smell of a rotting corpse fills my nostrils;13
The reek of bad milk, feces and menustral blood woven together.14
To proceed farther promises to bring more horror15
Yet I proceed onward expecting no less.16
There on the wall is the mark of the beast;17
A crimson butterfly hovering over its feast.18
Lying beneath this ominous show19
Discolored and bloated; our victim Jane Doe.20
Eyes glazed over, flesh torn asunder21
Nude from head to toe.22
A perfect display of unwilling submission.23
I begin my work with a heavy heart24
Unsure of what I'll find.25
Suddenly prompted to turn around26
I feel my sanity unwind.27
Her scared, dead eyes cry out to me,28
Her voice whispers in my ear:29
"Solve the case, solve the case."30

Author notes
When I am older, I want to work for the FBI. I either want to be out in the field chasing down serial killers or working in the lab analyzing watever my team brings me. The first stanza of this poem is from the killer's persepctive. From there on out, it is supposed to be through my eyes.
